The differentiation of the nitrate reduction pathway is of great significance in the ecosystem, as it determines the occurrence form of ecosystem N. In order to explore the impact and mechanism of different algal dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) and dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) on differentiation of nitrate (NO-N) reduction pathway, small-scale enclosure experiment was conducted to analyze the DON and DOP composition, nutrient level, microbial community composition and NO-N reduction pathway in ponds with Microcystis and Dolichospermum blooms. The main DON produced by Microcystis included lipids and proteins as well as carbohydrate which were readily degradable, whereas the DOP produced by Dolichospermum predominantly consists of readily degradable forms such as carbohydrate and protein.

However, despite extensive studies on IgM as an ancient antiviral weapon in warm-blooded vertebrates, its role and mechanisms in combating viral infections in early vertebrates remain poorly understood. Here, significant virus-specific sIgM titers are generated in the serum and gut mucus of a teleost fish (largemouth bass) that survive infection, and fish lacking sIgM were more susceptible to viral infection.

Human-induced environmental changes increase species turnover, typically characterized by native species extirpation and non-native species (NNS) invasions, leading to multiple functional consequences owing to varying species roles and whether losses from extirpation are compensated by newly established NNS. We analysed community functional roles among fish species that persisted, were extirpated or were newly established over 75 years (1940-2015) in 15 lakes in southwest China, using functional diversity indices and trait-based network analyses.
