Background And Objectives: β-Amyloid (Aβ) likely triggers the spread of pathologic tau from the entorhinal cortex (EC) to the neocortex, but whether distinct Aβ levels exert differential influences on tau propagation beyond the EC remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the modifying effect of Aβ on the association of initial tau deposition with successive tau accumulation.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed using data from 2 longitudinal observational cohort studies, the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and the Harvard Aging Brain Study (HABS), both conducted in the United States.

To develop chemical kinetic models for the pyrolysis and combustion of pentacyclic carbonates, including ethylene carbonate (EC), propylene carbonate (PC), 2,3-butylene carbonate (23BC), and 1,2-butylene carbonate (12BC), which are always focused on in the battery industry as representative solvents and alternative fuels, theoretical aspects of unimolecular decomposition reactions were studied. According to the calculations, CO, H, and CH elimination channels and isomerization channels were found based on the potential energy surface of the unimolecular decomposition channels. These pentacyclic carbonates predominantly tend to eliminate CO, thereby generating aldehydes, ketones, and oxiranes.

Atomic hydrogen (*H) in bimetallic nanoscale zero-valent iron (M-nFe)-water system plays a dominant role for realizing in-situ deep dechlorination reactions, yet its selective generation and sustainable utilization remain challenging. Herein, a structural modulation strategy was proposed to design lattice engineered M-nFe (M-nFe), which generated controllable lattice strain and strong M-Fe chemical bonds, thus steering *H generation/accumulation and achieving deep dechlorination of various organic pollutants. Compared with traditional surface nickel-modified nFe (Ni-Fe), the dechlorination rate of Ni-Fe for TCE and 4-CP was improved by 3.

Introduction: Sex differences in the association between depressive symptoms and cognitive decline or dementia risk among older adults remain controversial. Reliance on single time point assessments of depressive symptoms, which fail to capture their dynamic course, may contribute to the inconsistencies.

Methods: We investigated the sex-specific associations of longitudinal trajectories of depressive symptoms with cognitive decline and progression from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia among 811 individuals with MCI.

Gut microbiota-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) are emerging mediators of microbiota-host crosstalk, but their roles in diarrheal diseases remain poorly understood. Here, we revealed that EVs isolated from diarrheal donors' intestinal microbiota trigger pro-inflammatory macrophage polarization and compromise intestinal epithelial barrier integrity in both conventional and pseudo-germ-free mice, demonstrating their intrinsic pathogenicity independent of viable microbes. miRNAs sequencing analysis identified miR-125b as a highly enriched miRNA in diarrheal microbiota-derived EVs, which directly targets the 3' untranslated region of NF-κBIA, leading to its degradation and subsequent activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Cancer, which can invade and metastasize to almost all organs or tissues, is one of the deadliest diseases across the world. Drug resistance, especially multidrug resistance, is a principal obstacle to effective therapeutic interventions against cancer, creating an urgent demand for the exploration of novel anticancer chemotherapeutics. Quinazoline derivatives are useful templates for exploring new anticancer chemotherapeutics due to their ability to exert anticancer effects through various mechanisms, mainly associated with alterations in cell cycle progression, induction of apoptosis, and modification of autophagy.

The cardioprotective effects of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors (HDIs) are at odds with the deleterious effects of HDAC depletion. Here, we use HDAC3 as a prototype HDAC to address this contradiction. We show that adult-onset cardiac-specific depletion of HDAC3 in mice causes cardiac hypertrophy and contractile dysfunction on a high-fat diet (HFD), excluding developmental disruption as a major reason for the contradiction.

Disinfection is a critical step in drinking water treatment, yet studies revealed that it would promote the dissemination of antibiotic resistance, and disinfection byproducts (DBPs) may act as contributors. In this study, we conducted a high-throughput assessment of antibiotic resistance development in the model strain K12 after 50-day exposure to 15 aliphatic DBPs commonly found in drinking water against 8 different classes of antibiotics. The results showed that most treated bacteria developed resistance to cell wall-targeting antibiotics such as ampicillin and fosfomycin, with resistance levels increasing by 1.

Due to the rapid growth of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), their spectrum resources become scarce, leading to UAVs requiring spectrum prediction to share the spectrum with other users. However, contemporary prediction methods may have difficulty in predicting the spectrum states at the next location, because the UAVs cannot obtain the historical data in advance to train prediction models. This paper introduces a temporal-spatial spectrum prediction approach for arbitrary flight within a specific region.

The peptide ligands of the CLAVATA3/EMBRYO SURROUNDING REGION-RELATED (CLE) family have been previously identified as essential signals for both short- and long-distance communication in plants, particularly during stem cell homeostasis, cell fate determination, and growth and development. To date, most studies on the CLE family have focused on model plants and especially those involving stem and apical meristems. Relatively little is known about the role of CLE peptides in tall trees and other plant meristems.

A novel and efficient dual-catalysis strategy using nickel and palladium has been developed for the cross-coupling of halostibines with aryl triflates to form C(sp)-Sb bonds. This approach shows a wide substrate scope and high functional group tolerance and could be conducted on a gram scale. The synthesized arylstibines also could be arylation reagents reacting with alkyl and phenyl alkenes to form olefins and ligands to regulate the hydrogenation of diphenylacetylene.

The Kongtongshan Formation (KTSF) conglomerate in the southwestern Ordos Basin is located at the intersection of China's North-South Tectonic Belt (NSTB) and the East-West Central China Orogenic Belt (CCOB), which are crucial for reconstructing the Early Mesozoic prototype basin and understanding the regional tectonic evolution of the North China Craton (NCC). However, the depositional age and material sources of the KTSF conglomerate remain controversial. In this study, we conducted zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating and trace element analysis on sandstones, combined with paleocurrent direction measurements and field outcrop surveys, to constrain the sedimentary age and provenance of the KTSF conglomerates and reconstruct the regional tectonic evolution.
