Crohn's disease is a severe inflammatory disorder of the intestine for which there is no cure. Individuals suffering from Crohn's disease are at an increased risk of developing Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), which considerably exacerbates symptoms. Using a prospective observational clinical study combined with animal models of intestinal inflammation, we show that intestinal colonization by Veillonella, an oral commensal, promotes CDI in Crohn's disease.

Treatment adherence is a cornerstone of effective hypertension management. However, the dynamic patterns of adherence and their influencing factors among young Chinese adults with hypertension remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to explore the trajectories of medication adherence and healthy lifestyle behaviors, as well as the associated influencing factors, in this population.

However, its relatively weak cold tolerance not only significantly compromises its survival and reproductive abilities in cold regions but also limits the realization of its economic potential. Notably, previous studies have demonstrated that anthocyanin accumulation enhances plant cold resistance.

To resolve this, we employed the AES-SDM meta-analytic method and conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) studies to elucidate the relationship between extraversion and spontaneous brain activities at rest. Our analysis included 9 datasets from 11 studies, encompassing a total of 1242 participants, both adults and minors.

Background: Mental disorders represent a growing public health challenge, with rising hospitalization rates worldwide. Despite their significant impact, systematic investigations into the hospitalization burden (HB) of mental disorders remain notably lacking in current studies.
Objective: This study aims to employ machine learning (ML) techniques to predict the HB among patients with mental disorders.
Understanding radial growth phenology is crucial in the comprehension of tree physiology and its susceptibility to climate change. Numerous studies have investigated the impacts of radial growth activity in stem meristems and environmental factors on wood formation and tree growth in treeline trees. Nevertheless, studies on the radial growth dynamics of lateral meristems across different tree parts and the variations in their responses to environmental factors are scarce.

However, their comparative efficacy remains under evaluation. This study aims to compare overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) outcomes using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

The mechanisms driving stable SCV formation remain poorly understood, particularly concerning metabolic adaptations.

Current studies have demonstrated the emerging compensatory role of MHC-II-mediated antigen presentation and CD4T cell activation in anti-tumor immunity against MHC-I-deficient tumors. However, the underlying mechanism of the compensatory immune response by CD4T cells in cancer ablation therapy remains to be elucidate.

Discovery of Keap1 inhibitors have attracted significant interest.
Areas Covered: This review covers patents on Keap1 inhibitors from 2019 to 2024, providing a comprehensive analysis of their structural characteristics, optimization strategies, pharmacological properties and clinical progress.
Objective: To systematically evaluate the efficacy of traditional Chinese exercises (TCEs) for neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) in patients with Parkinson's disease.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed across eight databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science (WoS), SinoMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database, covering studies published from their inception up to April 23, 2024. The search focused on identifying randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effectiveness of TCEs for NPSs in PD patients.

In recent years, circular RNAs (circRNAs) have garnered significant attention due to their unique structure and function, positioning them as promising candidates for next-generation vaccines. The circRNA vaccine, as an RNA vaccine, offers significant advantages in preventing infectious diseases by serving as a vector for protein expression through non-canonical translation. Notably, circRNA vaccines have demonstrated enduring antigenic expression and generate a larger percentage of neutralizing antibodies compared to mRNA vaccines administered at the same dosage.

Herein, we originally develop a bioorthogonally activatable prodrug and pro-photosensitizer system to synchronously yield an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) photosensitizer and a chemotherapeutic drug for synergistic chemo-photodynamic-immunotherapy of tumors. By employing molecular engineering strategy, we rationally design a family of tetrazine-functionalized tetraphenylene-based photosensitizers, one of which (named TzPS5) exhibits a high turn-on ratio, a NIR emission, a typical AIE character, and an excellent ROS generation efficiency upon bioorthogonal-activation.

Plastics are an indispensable part of modern life. Due to the harmful environmental consequences of petroleum-based plastic usage, there is an urgent need to replace them with biodegradable bioplastics that meet the sustainability standards required for a low environmental footprint. Here, we use plant-derived proteins to produce bioplastics.

Recently, the identification of autoantibodies (AT1-AA) targeting the second extracellular loop of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R-ECII) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) offers a novel perspective on the interplay between immunity and cardiovascular disease. However, much remains unknown regarding the functional diversity of AT1-AA. In this study, we measured the levels of AT1-AA in the sera of 306 CHD patients and purified AT1-AA from patient's sera (n = 127).

Aim: This research aimed to examine the correlation between sleep patterns, genetic susceptibility, and VTE.
Methods: In the UK Biobank cohort, healthy sleep behaviors were defined as early chronotype, 7-8 hours of sleep each day, no snoring, infrequent insomnia, and infrequent daytime sleepiness.

Silicon (Si), a high-capacity electrode material, is crucial for achieving high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. However, Si suffers from poor cycling stability due to its significant volume changes during operation. In this work, a tannic acid functionalized aqueous dual-network binder with an intramolecular tannic acid functionalized network has been synthesized, which is composed of covalent-cross-linked polyamide and ionic-cross-linked alginate (Alg(Ni)-PAM-TA), and employed as an advanced binder for stabilizing Si anodes.
