Lung cancer, as one of the cancers with the highest morbidity and mortality rates in the world, requires accurate detection of its vital serum marker, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), which is a key challenge for early detection of lung cancer. However, traditional chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) methods rely on labeled antibodies (Abs) and suffer from complex operations and high costs. In this work, a label-free CLIA based on CL-functionalized mesoporous magnetic nanoparticles (CuFeO@mSiO-Cys-Luminol-Au NPs) is developed for the rapid and sensitive detection of NSE.

Teaching and Research section of Nuclear Medicine, School of Basic Medicine, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, Anhui Province 230032, China. Electronic address:

Radio-resistance remains a major challenge in the effective treatment of lung cancer. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), the predominant cellular components in solid tumors, play a crucial role in tumor treatment and resistance. Thus, understanding the interactions between CAFs and tumor cells is key to overcoming radio-resistance in lung cancer.

Vascular endothelial cells (ECs) damage is closely related to kidney injury. Our previous research revealed the involvement of interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF1)-mediated PANoptosis of renal ECs in trichloroethylene (TCE)-induced immune kidney injury. However, how IRF1 regulates ECs PANoptosis remains unclear.

Prolonged or excessive inflammation may lead to impaired vascularization and bone regeneration, hindering the normal repair process of bone tissue. Although the regulation of inflammation is crucial for promoting a conducive microenvironment for bone regeneration, individual anti-inflammatory interventions frequently are inadequate in facilitating effective bone repair. Here, a multifunctional hydrogel (GelMA-ZC-Yoda1) with multifaceted therapeutic strategy was designed by integrating Zinc/Cerium-layered double oxide nanozyme (ZnCe-LDO, with catalase-like activity) and Yoda1 (an activator of the mechanically sensitive Piezo1 ion channel) into photocurable GelMA hydrogel.

Inguinal hernia represents a clinically significant yet underreported complication of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for localized prostate cancer, with a notably high incidence within the first postoperative year. Despite its adverse impact on quality of life and potential for severe sequelae, predictive tools for this outcome remain limited. To develop and validate the first machine learning (ML)-based clinical prediction model for inguinal hernia within 1 year after RARP, leveraging explainable artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for clinical interpretability.

Department of Anaesthesiology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Key Laboratory of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine of Anhui Higher Education Institutes, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, China.

Aims: The mechanism underlying postoperative post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) remains unclear. However, studies have shown that acute postoperative pain is an independent risk factor for PTSD, which is also closely related to memory consolidation enhancement. Preoperative patients often experience unpleasant traumatic events, and postoperative pain usually occurs in the memory consolidation stage of these events.

TP53 drives neuronal ferroptosis by promoting KLHL4-mediated SLC7A11 ubiquitination after spinal cord injury.

Neural Regen Res

September 2025

Department of Spine Surgery, The Third Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.

Ferroptosis constitutes a pivotal pathological event following spinal cord injury and presents substantial challenges to the restoration of neurological function. Cystine-glutamate transporter SLC7A11 is essential for maintaining cellular redox homeostasis and resisting ferroptosis. However, the mechanisms underlying neuronal ferroptosis caused by SLC7A11 downregulation following spinal cord injury remain unclear.

Increasing evidence suggests that all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) contributes to the pathogenesis of depression. Although numerous studies have emphasized the role of hippocampal glutamatergic transmission and dendritic spine abnormalities in ATRA-induced depression, it remains unclear whether changes in hypothalamic glutamatergic transmission and dendritic spine density also contribute to its development. This study investigates the effects of ATRA treatment on glutamate receptor expression and dendritic spine density in the hypothalamus of rats.

State Key Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry for Life Science, School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210023, P. R. China.

Circular human epidermal receptor 2 RNA (circ-HER2) has been revealed to be overexpressed in HER2-positive breast cancer, which demonstrates the potential to serve as a potential prognostic biomarker for guiding the treatment of circ-HER2-positive breast cancer patients. But convenient, efficient and low-cost detection of circ-HER2 is rarely explored. Herein, we have fabricated an electrochemical biosensor for the accurate detection of circ-HER2 in breast cancer based on isothermal amplification-enhanced self-assembly of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).

Bone defect repair is a complex physiological process, starting with early modulation by the inflammatory immune system, and involves multiple physiological events, including angiogenesis, osteogenic differentiation, and mineralization. Biomaterial can regulate inflammatory responses through relevant immune cells in the local immune microenvironment of the implant-bone interface which is a hot topic in the field of regenerative medicine. Currently, Mg regulates immune cells in the bone microenvironment to promote osteogenesis and angiogenesis mainly focuses on macrophages, but there is relatively little research on T cells.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains a refractory subtype of breast cancer due to its resistance to various therapeutic strategies. In this study, we introduce a "brake-release and accelerator-pressing" approach to engineer a microneedle patch embedded with copper-doped Prussian blue nanoparticles (Cu-PB) and the ferroptosis inducer sorafenib (SRF) for raised chemodynamic (CDT)/photothermal (PTT) combination therapy against TNBC. Upon transdermal insertion, the dissolving microneedles swiftly disintegrate and facilitate the release of SRF.
