Although cold atmospheric plasma is a promising therapeutic technique for tumor immunotherapy via reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS), the challenges associated with the generation and delivery of these RONS hamper clinical adoption. Herein, a dual-mode hybrid discharge plasma-activated sodium alginate hydrosols (PAH) is proposed to enhance the antitumor immune response. Gaseous highly reactive RONS are generated by dual-mode hybrid plasma produced by mixed O and NO modes, which are converted into aqueous RONS in PAH via gas-liquid reactions between plasma and hydrosols.

Intractable functional constipation (IFC), a severe form of chronic constipation characterized by slow transit and resistance to conventional treatments, posed a significant clinical challenge. Here, we identified Lactococcus formosensis (Lf), a Gram-positive bacterium prevalent in IFC patients, as a novel contributor to intestinal motility impairment. Clinically, IFC patients exhibited increased colonic mucosal colonization of Lf and significant myenteric neuronal loss and pyroptosis, particularly in excitatory choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) neurons, but not inhibitory neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) neurons.

Partial reprogramming (pulsed expression of reprogramming transcription factors) ameliorates multiple tissue functions in aged mice; however, its impact on peripheral nerve regeneration remains largely unexplored. In this study, the temporal dynamics of Schwann cells following sciatic nerve injury in young and aged rats are systematically examined using single-cell transcriptomics to identify a Runx2 cell population highly enriched with stress granules as transitional homeostatic cells during Schwann cell differentiation. It is found that pathological accumulation of this cluster during axonal regeneration constitutes a critical contributing factor to impaired neural repair in aging.

This study examines how alternate wetting and moderate soil drying (AWMD), a widely adopted water-saving practice, influences grain-filling dynamics and starch physicochemical properties in both superior grains (located on apical primary branches, flower earlier) and inferior ones (located on proximal secondary branches, flower later). Results showed that AWMD enhanced grain-filling in inferior grains: it increased the mean (G) and peak (G) filling rates by 26.
