Alzheimer's disease (AD), a leading cause of dementia, represents a critical unmet global medical need. While the precise mechanisms underlying AD pathogenesis remain elusive, increasing evidence underscores the pivotal role of neuroinflammation in driving cognitive impairment. N6-methyladenosine (m6A), an epigenetic modification regulating RNA metabolism, has been found to be dysregulated in AD.

The neurological manifestations of SHORT syndrome include intrauterine growth restriction, microcephaly, intellectual disability, hearing loss, and speech delay. SHORT syndrome is generally believed to be caused by PIK3R1 gene mutations and impaired PI3K-AKT activation. Recently, a clinical case report described a SHORT syndrome with a novel mutant in PRKCE gene encoding protein kinase Cε (PKCε).

Glucose restriction generally limits tumor growth. Recently, Wu et al. reported that glucose restriction inhibits primary tumors but promotes lung metastasis by forming a macrophage-dominated, natural killer (NK) cell-deficient pre-metastatic niche (PMN).

Radiotherapy, a pivotal treatment for colorectal cancer, is compromised by tumor repopulation, which is characterized by accelerated growth and increased treatment resistance. Although radiation-induced DNA breaks eliminate most cells, a subset of polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) evade death through massive genomic amplification, subsequently undergoing depolyploidization via a viral budding-like process to generate proliferative progeny. Critically, these PGCCs drive tumor repopulation and underpin therapeutic failure.

Backgrounds: The management of non-culprit vessels (NCV) among individuals with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains an unsolved problem. Angiography-derived physiological assessments developed recently may help address this issue. Our study aims to measure angiography-derived fractional flow reserve (Angio-FFR) and angiography-derived index of microcirculatory resistance (Angio-IMR) in NCVs of AMI patients and explore their prognostic values and necessity.

Glioblastoma is a highly malignant brain tumor with few available therapeutic options, for which boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) has emerged as a promising precision radiotherapy approach. However, its efficacy remains suboptimal due to inadequate tumor targeting of boron agents and lack of in vivo visualization. Herein, a gadolinium-boron integrated lipid nanocarrier (BPA-F&DOTA-Gd@LIPO-ANG) was developed for targeted boron delivery and MRI-guided BNCT.

Although intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD) have long been considered distinct clinical entities, emerging evidence reveals significant overlap in their etiologies and imaging markers. This review aims to explore the relationship between ICH and cSVD, suggesting that ICH may represent an acute manifestation of small vessel disease. ICH is primarily caused by cerebral amyloid angiopathy and hypertension, while cSVD is mainly attributed to cerebral amyloid angiopathy and arteriolosclerosis.

Dramatic drop in reproductive hormone, especially estrogen level, from pregnancy to postpartum period is known to contribute to postpartum depression (PPD), but the underlying mechanism and the role of the estrogen receptors (ERs) in this process were unclear. Here, we used an estrogen-withdrawal-induced PPD model following hormone simulated pregnancy (HSP) in female Sprague-Dawley rats to induce depressive-like behaviors. After estrogen withdrawal, we observe an up-regulation of astrocyte-specific potassium channel (Kir4.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, significantly affecting patients' quality of life (QoL) and increasing the risk of complications such as heart failure, stroke and dementia. In addition to the physical burden, psychological distress, including depression and anxiety, is prevalent among patients with AF and can exacerbate clinical symptoms and worsen overall well-being. While radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is widely used for rhythm control in AF, its long-term effects on both physical and psychological outcomes, including symptom severity, anxiety, depression and QoL, remain underexplored.

Aim: This review aimed to delineate the leadership roles, care models, and effectiveness of advanced practice nurse (APN)-led multidisciplinary teams in healthcare settings.
Background: Emerging international evidence suggests leadership constitutes a core characteristic of APN roles. Despite expanding involvement of advanced practice nurses in leading advanced and sustainable care within multidisciplinary teams, the current understanding of such care models is limited.

Neural regeneration stands at the forefront of neuroscience, aiming to repair and restore function to damaged neural tissues, particularly within the central nervous system (CNS), where regenerative capacity is inherently limited. However, recent breakthroughs in biotechnology, especially the revolutions in genetic engineering, materials science, multi-omics, and imaging, have promoted the development of neural regeneration. This review highlights the latest cutting-edge technologies driving progress in the field, including optogenetics, chemogenetics, three-dimensional (3D) culture models, gene editing, single-cell sequencing, and 3D imaging.

Phage contamination poses a significant threat to industrial fermentation, leading to substantial economic losses. Virulent T-even type phages (T2/T4/T6) represent particularly concerning biological hazards in fermentation systems. This paper developed a novel CRISPR/Cas12a-based system integrated with recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), enabling ultrasensitive identification of T-even type phages.

Background: Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE)-guided non/minimized-fluoroscopy catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) has been reported, but its effectiveness and safety still lack multicenter evidence.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ICE-guided non/minimized-fluoroscopy catheter ablation compared with the traditional fluoroscopy-guided approach in patients with paroxysmal AF.
Methods: A total of 448 patients with paroxysmal AF, from 15 centers in China, were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to a non/minimized-fluoroscopy group (n = 223) and a traditional approach group (n = 225).

Stem cells therapy is an emerging method for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Compared with traditional treatment, it has the advantage lies in the ability to treat the pathological damage of the penis in patients with ED, which provides new ideas for solving erectile dysfunction fundamentally. However, due to the special anatomical structure of the penis, the therapeutic effect of stem cells is sometimes unsatisfactory.

Background: Vitamin interventions have emerged as a cost-effective and accessible approach to managing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), primarily for alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation. Recent studies suggest vitamins may also improve core symptoms, yet most existing research focuses on comparisons between patients and healthy controls, lacking clinically relevant, evidence-based insights.
Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted using studies retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, focusing on vitamin interventions in ASD and ADHD populations.

Red yeast rice (RYR), a commonly used supplement with statin-like properties, is generally considered safe but may cause severe adverse effects such as rhabdomyolysis. We report a rare case of severe RYR-induced rhabdomyolysis complicated by acute kidney injury (AKI) and respiratory failure, with diaphragmatic dysfunction as a key contributing factor. A 78-year-old woman developed progressive proximal muscle weakness, dyspnea, and tea-colored urine after taking RYR (2 g/day) for 1 month.
