Tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) is a common oral malignancy prone to metastasis, whose underlying mechanism remains obscure. Here, we report the oncogenic roles of protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) in TSCC via inhibiting transcription factor ΔNp63α. We found that PRMT5 physically interacts with ΔNp63α, resulting in impairment of ΔNp63α-mediated transcriptional regulation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common and complex malignant tumor whose etiology is influenced by a variety of factors and exhibits different outcomes during disease progression. HCC is distinguished by the triggering of various cell death pathways, for example ferroptosis, cuproptosis, and PANoptosis. This review provides insights into the current understanding of the interactions between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and these novel mechanisms of cell death in HCC, highlighting their significance in disease pathogenesis and their potentiality as therapeutic goals.

Inonotus obliquus is a medicinal fungus that has been valued for its anti-diabetic properties in China for thousands of years. Inotodiol is a characteristic triterpenoid isolated from Inonotus obliquus. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) combined with biliary stenting reportedly has better efficacy and safety in the treatment of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (EHC). Groundwater serves as the primary drinking water source for residents in the Zhaojue area, located in the hinterland of the Daliang Mountains in Sichuan Province. This study investigated the spatial distribution, pollution characteristics, and health risks of 10 metal elements (As, Cd, Al, Mn, Hg, Co, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni) through 48 groundwater sampling sites. The first experimental formation of thiocarbonic acid (HCS) is presented in this work from low-temperature interstellar ice analogs composed of hydrogen sulfide (HS) and carbon disulfide (CS) exposed to electron irradiation simulating the impact of galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) on interstellar ices. The recent attention brought to sulfur-bearing molecules, as well as the recent detection of carbonic acid (HCO) in the interstellar medium (ISM), invites the study of the interstellar detection of the sulfur counterpart, thiocarbonic acid. Despite the success of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, extending this modality to more diseases necessitates substantial enhancements. We present GEMORNA, a generative RNA model that utilizes Transformer architectures tailored for mRNA coding sequences (CDSs) and untranslated regions (UTRs), to design novel mRNAs with enhanced expression and stability. GEMORNA-designed full-length mRNAs exhibited up to a 41-fold increase in firefly luciferase expression compared to an optimized benchmark in vitro.

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) of the central nervous system (CNS) are rare, aggressive mesenchymal neoplasms with high recurrence and metastasis rates. Here, we perform a comprehensive multi-omics analysis of 189 cases of CNS SFTs integrating 94 whole genome sequencing, 88 transcriptomics, 7 single-nucleus RNA sequencing and 3 spatial transcriptome sequencing. We find that receptor tyrosine kinase mutations are significantly more prevalent besides the widespread NAB2-STAT6 fusion and correlate with tumor grade.
