Direct electrocatalytic depolymerization of lignin using a thermally stable organic salt electrolyte: performance and mechanistic insights.

J Colloid Interface Sci

September 2025

Nanning Normal University, Guangxi Key Laboratory of Natural Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Nanning 530100, PR China. Electronic address:

Electrochemical depolymerization of lignin to produce low molecular weight aromatic compounds is characterized by mild conditions and low carbon emissions. However, using non-metallic catalysts for this process faces challenges in terms of selectivity and activity. This study found that high-melting-point organic salts - tetra-n-butyl tetrafluoroborate (TBABF), can function simultaneously as a catalyst and oxidant at room temperature and in air, effectively catalyzing the CO bond cleavage in lignin.

State Key Laboratory of Agricultural and Forestry Biosecurity, MOA Key Lab of Pest Monitoring and Green Management, College of Plant Protection, China Agricultural University, Beijing 100193, China.

The two closely related Oriental species of the genus , (Stål, 1867) and (Fabricius, 1787), exhibit remarkable morphological similarity, particularly in their overall red and black body coloration, including the head, thorax, and abdomen. Based on the examination of type specimens and non-type material collected from various localities of southern China, we found these two congeners were misidentified in many previous publications. Due to the restricted distribution and limited population size of in China, most taxonomic, biological, and biocontrol studies conducted under the name or should be instead attributed to To address this confusion regarding these two species, the present study clarifies the taxonomic status of the two controversial species- and .

Redox-coupled coordination strategy for xanthate detoxification via self-catalysis over a broad pH range.

J Hazard Mater

August 2025

Guangxi Key Laboratory of Natural Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Key Laboratory of Nanobiosensor Analysis, College of Chemistry and Materials, Nanning Normal University, Nanning 530001, PR China. Electronic address:

This study developed an effective strategy to construct a Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox cycle catalytic system by anchoring Cu(II)/Cu(I) onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via wet ball milling for the efficient degradation of xanthate compounds. The catalyst exhibited dual functionality: Cu(II) coordinated with electron-rich S-CS moiety in xanthate molecules, facilitating strong adsorption of xanthate and generation of stable Cu(I), which subsequently activated HO to regenerate Cu(II) and generate reactive oxygen species (•OH, •O⁻, and O). DFT calculations verified the enhanced adsorption of xanthate.

Under the "dual-carbon" target and the shift towards a high-quality economy, achieving a decoupling of energy consumption from economic growth is crucial. This study investigates the decoupling effect and the spatial-temporal dynamics of energy use and economic development across 282 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2021, employing the Tapio decoupling model. To thoroughly assess the factors influencing energy decoupling, a geographically weighted Durbin model was constructed based on an extended STIRPAT model.

The past few years have witnessed the rapid development of contrastive graph clustering (CGC). Although a series of achievements have been made, there still remain two challenging problems in the literature. First, previous works typically generate different views via some pre-defined graph augmentation strategies, but inappropriate augmentations may alter the latent semantics of the original data.

The pace of gene discovery in plants has slowed as forward genetic screens reach saturation. To address this, we built a unified single-cell atlas of shoot apices from six vascular plant species spanning major evolutionary groups. This cross-species resource allowed us to identify a core set of cell-type foundational genes linked to key tissues such as the epidermis, xylem, and phloem, streamlining gene discovery with greater accuracy.

August 2025

Key Laboratory of Luminescence Analysis and Molecular Sensing, Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, P. R. China.

Neoantigens are unique tumor-derived epitopes to facilitate the development of immunotherapeutic interventions and advance the precision diagnosis of cancers. However, significant challenges remain in the detection of these neoantigens due to their inert electrochemical/fluorescent properties and low abundance, and mass spectroscopy is currently the prevailing neoantigen analysis platform, constrained by procedural complexity, prohibitive cost, and isotopic tagging. Based on partial vulcanization synthesis of a new conductive bimetal organic framework and a peptide derivatization strategy, we demonstrate an innovative catalysis-enhanced electrochemical neoantigen biosensing platform for direct and specific electrochemical cancer diagnosis.

The land-use conversion of Masson pine forests to tea fields is extensively practiced across subtropical China, primarily driven by its economic benefit. However, the effects of this conversion on soil fungal communities and functional guilds are poorly understood. Herein, a field experiment was conducted in a Masson pine forest (F), a 5-year-old tea plantation without (FT-CK) fertilization or with (FT-N), and a 30-year-old tea plantation (FT-O) to assess the impact of Masson pine forest-to-tea conversion on soil fungal abundance, community structure, and functional guilds by using qPCR and high-throughput sequencing.
