Introduction: (KP) is a common Gram-negative bacterium in clinical practice and can cause various infectious diseases, including pneumonia, liver abscess and bloodstream infection. Carbapenem-resistant (CRKP) has become a major threat to global health due to its high incidence and mortality rates, especially the ST11-CRKP strain prevalent in China.
Methods: The age, main clinical diagnosis, previous health and immune status of the two patients with ST11-CRKP-related infections during the same period reported in this study were similar.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major life-threatening event. In addition to neurological deficits, it can lead to long-term impairments of cognitive function. The vagus nerve (VN) provides a direct communication conduit between the central nervous system and the periphery, and modulation of the inflammatory reflex via electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve (VNS) shows efficacy in ameliorating pathology in neurodegenerative diseases.

Recent breakthroughs in gene therapy for autosomal recessive deafness 9 (DFNB9) caused by OTOF mutations have transformed treatment paradigms for hereditary hearing loss (HHL). To date, eight clinical trials targeting DFNB9 have been registered in 51 centers across eight countries, demonstrating the rapid progress of gene therapy in auditory medicine. These pioneering studies establish the framework for the clinical translation of gene therapy targeting HHL.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are severe hypersensitivity reactions characterized by extensive epidermal necrosis, often induced by medications. This research aims to investigate the involvement of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), a derivative of vitamin A known to induce dermatological toxicity resembling SJS/TEN, in the development of these conditions. Utilizing network toxicology methodologies, molecular docking technology, and experimental validation, we identified 159 common targets between ATRA and SJS, 38 with TEN, and 27 shared among all three conditions through databases such as SwissTargetPrediction and GeneCards.

The escalating threat of antimicrobial resistance is exacerbated by delayed diagnostics and improper antibiotics use, underscoring an urgent demand for rapid, versatile AST tools to support evidence-based prescribing. In this study, we present an innovative, generalizable phenotypic AST approach by quantifying bacterial gDNA copy number variations (CNVs) following 0.5-h-brief culturing with antibiotic exposure, termed spatially encapsulated emulsions (SEE)-phAST.

Vascular aging increases the susceptibility to cardio-cerebrovascular conditions, such as atherosclerotic diseases and hypertension, the leading causes of global disability and mortality. Dietary citrate extends the lifespan of Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans as well as improves the memory of mice injured by a high-fat diet (HFD); whether it alleviates vascular aging and age-related vascular diseases; however, remains unknown. Here, we showed that dietary supplementation of citrate delayed vascular aging, as evidenced by maintaining the integrity of elastic fibers and decreasing the level of the aging-related marker, CDKN1A (p21).

Photocatalytic antibacterial therapy is a promising method for wound disinfection and treatment. However, the weak photocatalytic antibacterial activity of ZnO stimulated by visible light limits its applications. In this study, porous CuO@ZnO heterojunctions with enhanced visible light response are successfully synthesized by coupling ZnO and CuO using a one-pot water bath method.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a common malignant bone tumor, frequently associated with impaired osteogenic differentiation of tumor cells. Recent studies have suggested that the NOTCH signaling pathway plays a crucial role in maintaining tumor cell stemness and may influence their differentiation status. This study investigates the role of NOTCH2, a key receptor in the NOTCH family, in regulating osteogenic differentiation in OS.

Introduction: Dysfunction in amygdala networks has been implicated in major depressive disorder (MDD). Pharmacological treatments, such as esketamine and sertraline, are believed to exert their antidepressant effects by modulating amygdalar activity. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between changes in dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) within amygdala subregions and treatment outcomes, with a focus on identifying potential neuroimaging markers.

Gemcitabine-based chemotherapy remains a cornerstone in pancreatic cancer treatment, yet its efficacy is hindered by poor bioavailability and adaptive resistance mechanisms, such as autophagy. In this study, we developed a hyaluronic acid (HA) modified zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) drug-repurposing nanoplatform (HA/ZIF-8@BPP/Gem) against pancreatic cancer through the co-delivery of the antitussive benproperine phosphate (BPP) and gemcitabine (Gem). Using cell lines, patient-derived xenograft models, and orthotopic tumor models, we demonstrated that BPP and Gem, rapidly released from the nanoplatform in the acidic tumor microenvironment, exhibited synergistic cytotoxicity without causing significant biochemical abnormalities or organ toxicity.

The antioxidant capacity and mechanism of linusorbs (LOs) on lipid systems with different unsaturation was unclear. This study aimed to explore the oxidative stability of flaxseed oil (FO), walnut oil (WO), and camellia oil (CO) in the presence of LOs in order to recognize the impacts of unsaturation degree of the lipid systems on the performance of natural antioxidants. By the evaluation of fatty acid compositions, PV/CD and AV/p-AV value, and changes of characteristic peaks in Raman spectra, LOs can inhibit oil oxidation in different lipid systems, especially potent for C18:3-based FO, followed by C18:2-based WO, and C18:1-based CO.
