The biocontrol fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum PLBJ-1 produces leucinostatins, a class of non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs) with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the optimization of culture conditions for leucinostatin production remain unexplored. Previous research showed that PLBJ-1 synthesizes leucinostatins more effectively in hand-made Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB-M) than in commercially available PDB (PDB-C).

Ammonium (NH) toxicity significantly limits nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in agriculture. Nitrate (NO) supplementation mitigates this toxicity, with the anion channel SLAH3 playing a central role by mediating NO efflux to counteract NH-induced rhizosphere acidification. SLAH3, a plasma membrane protein with ten transmembrane domains and cytosolic N- and C-termini, is intrinsically silent.

Disulfiram (DSF), an FDA-approved therapeutic agent for alcohol dependence, has recently attracted considerable interest due to its broad-spectrum inhibitory effects against various viruses. Increasing evidence suggests that DSF can inhibit viral replication through two major mechanisms: the inhibition of viral protein catalytic activity and the ejection of Zn from viral proteins. This review comprehensively summarized the molecular mechanisms underlying DSF's antiviral activity against viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), hepatitis C virus (HCV), influenza virus, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV), with a particular focus on its dual targeting of Cys residues and Zn coordination sites.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a potentially life-threatening vascular condition that currently lacks effective pharmacological treatment. The disease is strongly associated with chronic inflammation, where immune cells like macrophages play a crucial role. Efferocytosis, the process by which apoptotic cells are cleared, is involved in regulating inflammation.

Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), as a substrate material, has been widely utilized in the field of biodegradable vascular stents. Prior to implantation, it is particularly crucial for these devices to assess the relationship of the mechanical properties and microstructures during full degradation cycle. Although previous studies have primarily focused on structural parameters such as crystallinity and molecular weight, there are relatively few reports that explore the impact of microstructure on mechanical performance from the perspective of chain configuration during the degradation.

Deep-sea hydrothermal vents are renowned for being among the most extreme environments on Earth. However, the mussel shells found in these vent sites demonstrate remarkable productivity, despite being subjected to high pressure as well as unusual levels of heavy metals, pH, temperature, CO, and sulphides. To comprehend how these mussels endure such extreme conditions, a systematic comparative study was conducted, focusing on the unique chemical composition, structural designs, and mechanical properties of hydrothermal vent mussels (Bathymodiolus aduloides) in comparison to shallow-water mussels (Mytilus edulis).

Rational optimization of the pore size and topology of porous nanocarriers is crucial for improving the loading amount of luminophore and enhancing electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance. In this study, an equimolar linear ligand replacement strategy was employed to synthesize novel mesoporous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for encapsulating Ru(bpy) (Ru@Zr MOFs) under room temperature without an acid modulator. Ingenious ligand substitution allows precise control of pore size, enabling encapsulation at the single-molecule level within mesoporous cages.

Functionalization of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is a critical means to prepare COF-based gas chromatography stationary phases for high-resolution separation. Here, we report a simple and controllable multi-component strategy for the functionalization of COF stationary phases. As a proof of concept, a COF fabricated from 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl) benzene (Tab) and 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzenedicarboxaldehyde (DHTA), Tab-DHTA, was chosen as a model.

Microplastics (MPs) have emerged as ubiquitous environmental contaminants, while thallium (Tl), a highly toxic metalloid, is gaining attention as a novel pollutant due to its increasing release from electronic waste and mining activities. These pollutants frequently coexist in aquatic environments; however, their combined effects at environmentally relevant concentrations remain poorly understood. In this study, the adsorption behavior and joint neurotoxicity of polystyrene (PS) microplastics and Tl were systematically evaluated using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism.

Synthetic cathinones (SCs) are drugs of abuse that act on the central nervous system, producing psychoactive effects similar to those of amphetamines. Their greater accessibility compared with the traditional amphetamine-type stimulants has contributed to their increasing popularity in recent years. The analysis of SCs in biological samples is essential for documenting their consumption.

Conventional one-dimensional gas chromatography methods for gasoline quality monitoring require separate analyses for different component classes, limiting analytical efficiency and unconventional additive detection. This study presents a comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC × GC-FID) platform enabling simultaneous quantification of regulated components and rapid screening of unconventional additives in a single analytical run. The method achieved excellent agreement with ASTM standards and high repeatability for BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) and oxygenates in gasoline.

With the advancements of next-generation sequencing, publicly available pharmacogenomic datasets from cancer cell lines provide a handle for developing predictive models of drug responses and identifying associated biomarkers. However, many currently available predictive models are often just used as black boxes, lacking meaningful biological interpretations. In this study, we made use of open-source drug response data from cancer cell lines, in conjunction with KEGG pathway information, to develop sparse neural networks, K-net, enabling the prediction of drug response in EGFR signaling pathways and the identification of key biomarkers.

Parents of children with ASD face significantly greater parenting challenges than those raising typically developing children due to prolonged exposure to their children's developmental disorders, emotional distress, and atypical behaviors, underscoring the urgency of addressing their mental health concerns. This study examined the relationship between fear of negative evaluation (FNE) and social anxiety in parents of children with ASD, with a focus on the mediating roles of perceived social support and coping styles. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 585 parents of children with ASD using validated instruments: the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE), the Social Anxiety Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire.

The confirmed tumor-inhibitory effects of the 30 kDa Momordica anti-human immunodeficiency virus protein (MAP30) have yet to be complemented by an exploration into its mechanism of action on tumor development and metastasis. For this purpose, we delved into the intrinsic mechanism of MAP30 in bladder cancer (BC). Here, we demonstrated that MAP30 markedly suppressed the proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenic capabilities of human BC cells in vitro, and the tumor metastatic potential in vivo.
