Maize anthracnose, caused by the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum graminicola, is among the most devastating diseases affecting maize production. Homeobox transcription factors (HTFs) regulate key developmental and physiological processes in eukaryotes, including fungal pathogenesis. In this study, we identified two HTFs, CgrHtf1 and CgrAfh1, in C.

The incidence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) has demonstrated a marked escalation recently. Nevertheless, there remains a critical paucity of effective drug interventions targeting persistent neuroinflammation-induced damage following TBI. STING/NF-κB axis-induced pyroptosis emerges as a pivotal mechanism driving persistent neuroinflammation, providing it as a potential target for multi-pathway precision therapeutic in TBI.

Given rising consumer demands for meat safety and quality assurance, developing an intuitive, cost-effective, and user-friendly sensor platform for real-time monitoring of perishable meat freshness is important. Herein, this study developed an innovative chitosan/agarose/blueberry anthocyanin (CS/AG/BA) hydrogel label system for visual real-time freshness tracking of perishable proteins through smartphone-assisted colorimetric analysis. Through systematic optimization of CS/AG compositional ratios (3:7-7:3) and pH conditions (2.

Tissue adhesives have emerged as a promising alternative to conventional sutures and staplers in the management of hemostasis, tissue defect sealing, and wound repair. However, the efficacy of current bio-adhesives in clinical practice is compromised by the limitations, including poor wet adhesion, inadequate mechanical strength, vulnerability to gastrointestinal fluids, and insufficient hemostatic performance. Herein, a marine organism-inspired tough and adhesive patch (MOTAP) was developed to address these challenges.

The misuse of nitrofuran antibiotics (NFAs) poses serious risks to food safety and human health. Thus, it is urgent to establish a rapid and sensitive method for detecting NFAs. In this work, a dual-emission fluorescent material (TbUDPA) was developed by embedding Tb in a Zr-MOF for rapid and sensitive detection of four NFAs, and it successfully detected nitrofurazone (NFZ) residues in real food samples with high recovery rates.

Coupling the ethanol electrooxidation reaction (EOR) with the hydrogen evolution reaction is an effective way to obtain green energy. Although Ni-based catalysts have the characteristics of low cost and good stability, meanwhile, the activity needs to be further improved. Here, we report a Ni-based heterojunction EOR catalyst, NiCo(OH)@NiS, composed by two phases of NiS and NiCo(OH).

Developmental epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), including Dravet syndrome (DS), require antiseizure medications (ASMs) that balance efficacy with developmental safety. There is an urgent clinical need for novel therapeutic agents that combine potent anticonvulsant activity with developmental safety. β-Asarone, an active constituent of plants, has demonstrated antiepileptic potential, but its toxicities severely limit clinical application.

Early recognition of the signs of hypotension may lead to prompt intervention by medical professionals, reducing the risk of intradialytic hypotension. The study included two patients on dialysis, one with stable hemodynamics (Case 1) and one who developed hypotensive shock (Case 2), in whom noninvasive continuous hemodynamic monitoring using shunt-side estimated continuous cardiac output (esCCO) was performed. Noninvasive blood pressure (BP), heart rate, esCCO, estimated stroke volume, systemic vascular resistance, and decrease in blood volume of each patient before and after dialysis were evaluated in chronological order.

Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis), such as trichostatin A (TSA), have been recognized as promising anti-cancer agents due to their capacity to restore epigenetic regulation and reactivate tumor suppressor genes. However, emerging evidence indicates that unintended pro-metastatic effects may offset the therapeutic benefits of HDACis. Chen elucidate this paradox, demonstrating that TSA-induced hyperacetylation activates the BRD4/c-Myc/ER-stress axis, thereby promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a vital aquaculture species worldwide, prized for its rapid growth and high productivity. However, the increasing prevalence of Aeromonas veronii infections has led to significant economic losses in the Nile tilapia industry. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the host immune response, we performed transcriptome sequencing of Nile tilapia spleen tissues at 3, 7, and 10 days post-infection.

Chronic venous disease (CVD) is a prevalent vascular disorder with a poorly characterized genetic basis. In this study, we employed an integrative omics strategy combining genome-wide association studies (GWAS), expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping, endothelial cell functional assays, and transcriptomic correlation analysis to elucidate the molecular architecture of CVD. A GWAS conducted in a Taiwanese population identified two CVD-associated single nucleotide polymorphisms: VSTM2L rs1998049 and DPYSL2 rs1442887.

Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, underscoring the need for improved diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies. Circulating microRNAs (c-miRNAs) have emerged as promising non-invasive biomarkers due to their stability, tissue specificity, and regulatory roles in cardiac pathophysiology. This review highlights the potential of c-miRNAs in enhancing HF diagnosis, risk stratification, and therapeutic monitoring, particularly when integrated with conventional biomarkers such as natriuretic peptides, galectin-3, soluble ST2, and high-sensitivity troponins.

Introduction: B7-H6, a tumor-specific immune checkpoint molecule within the B7 family, represents a promising therapeutic target due to its selective overexpression in malignancies and negligible expression in normal tissues.
Method: Here, we developed bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) targeting B7-H6 to redirect T and NK cells against solid tumors. Through phage display, 15 high-affinity B7-H6 monoclonal antibodies were generated.

Accumulation of various genetics and epigenetics alterations are accepted to result in the initiation and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and its high metastasis is viewed as a critical bottleneck leading to its treatment failure. Amongst them, the microRNAs arising from the lack of the antioxidant transcription factor Nrf2 lead to cancer metastasis. However, much less is known about the regulation of microRNAs by Nrf1, even though it acts as an essential determinon of cell homoeostasis by governing the transcriptional expression of those driver genes contributing to the EMT involved in its metastasis.
