Maize anthracnose, caused by the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum graminicola, is among the most devastating diseases affecting maize production. Homeobox transcription factors (HTFs) regulate key developmental and physiological processes in eukaryotes, including fungal pathogenesis. In this study, we identified two HTFs, CgrHtf1 and CgrAfh1, in C.

The genus is listed as one of the top 10 important plant pathogens, causing significant economic losses worldwide. The CH zinc finger protein serves as a crucial transcription factor regulating growth and development in fungi. In this study, we identified two CH transcription factors, CgrCon7 and CsCon7, in and , as the orthologs of Con7p in .

Submergence is a major constraint on rice production in South and Southeast Asia. In this study, we determined that a gene of the Sub1A-binding protein family, SAB23, encodes a plant homeodomain (PHD)-type transcription factor that has a novel function of negatively regulating submergence tolerance in rice. The T-DNA insertion mutant sab23 displayed reduced plant height, delayed seed maturation, and lower percentage seed set.

The ZnCys transcription factor is a fungal-specific zinc finger protein, which plays an important role in regulating growth, development and pathogenicity of pathogenic fungi. In this study, we characterized two ZnCys transcription factors, CsGcc1 and CgrGcc1 in Colletotrichum siamense and C. graminicola, respectively, which are homologous to Gcc1 in Magnaporthe oryzae.

Colletotrichum siamense, a member of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides complex species, is the primary pathogen causing rubber anthracnose, which leads to significant economic loss in natural rubber production. Velvet family proteins are fungal-specific proteins and play an essential role in regulating development and secondary metabolism. In this study, we characterized two velvet proteins CsVosA and CsVelB in C.

Waterlogging has increasingly become one of the major constraints to maize (Zea mays L.) production in some maize growing areas as it seriously decreases the yield. Waterlogging tolerance in maize germplasm provides a basis for maize waterlogging improvement.

Chlorophylls function in photosynthesis, and are critical to plant developmental processes and responses to environmental stimuli. Chlorophyll b is synthesized from chlorophyll a by chlorophyll a oxygenase (CAO). Here, we characterize a yellow-green leaf (ygl) mutant and identify the causal gene which encodes a chlorophyll a oxygenase in maize (ZmCAO1).
