Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds (NHCs), widely present in industrial wastewater, pose significant environmental and health risks, yet their identification and characterization remain poorly understood. Herein, we developed a diagnostic fragment list comprising 20 nitrogen-containing fragments for NHCs, by integrating chemical information from Pubchem with the NIST mass spectral library. Leveraging this list, we employed a diagnostic fragment-assisted nontarget screening approach and identified 151 NHCs in iron and steel industry wastewater.

2-Alkylindoles are privileged motifs that serve as versatile intermediates and building blocks in synthetic and medicinal chemistry. Herein, we report a photoinduced, EDA-complex-enabled C2-benzylic C(sp)-H alkylation of indoles with bromides through radical cross-coupling. This developed protocol provides facile access to 2-alkylindoles from structurally varied 2-methylindoles and bromides under mild reaction conditions with simple operation.

KasA and KasB are promising drug targets against and infectious nontuberculous mycobacteria, while most lead compounds are in the preclinical development stage. Herein, a platensimycin (PTM) analogue library consisting of 340 members was first screened to identify 46 PTM thioethers with superior activity compared to that of PTM against . Next, 19 PTM thioethers were chosen and semisynthesized from PTM oxirane (), together with seven PTM ether derivatives and 6-ido, 6-bromo-, and 6-thiocyanato PTM.

Lung cancer is the most common cancer and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the world, however, the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still limited, and it is a clinically urgent problem. ROBO1 is an important surface receptor on tumor cells, but the role of humanized chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) modified natural killer (NK) cells targeting ROBO1 in NSCLC is rarely explored. Furthermore, the role of PD-1 in NK cell killing tumor cells remains controversial.

This study aimed to identify the optimal prediction method and key preoperative variables for red blood cell (RBC) transfusion risk in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery. We conducted a retrospective study involving 1477 patients from eight large tertiary hospitals in China who underwent mitral valve surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. From thirty collected preoperative variables, the Max-Relevance and Min-Redundancy (mRMR) method was used for feature selection, and various machine learning models were evaluated.

Introduction: Frailty is a global health issue, particularly among older adults, and is strongly associated with adverse health outcomes. The intermediate stage of pre-frailty, which represents a transition from robust health to frailty, has garnered growing concern due to its potential reversibility. This systematic review and meta-analysis will aim to identify predictors associated with the progression from pre-frailty to frailty in older adults.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a prevalent clinical condition that is associated with unacceptably high morbidity and mortality, as well as the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The pathogenesis of AKI is highly complex and heterogeneous, primarily attributed to metabolic disturbances arising from the disease itself and the administration of medications related to treatment. In recent years, AKI in cancer patients is highly concerned.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is an uncommon malignancy with stagnant survival rates over the past four decades and early-stage metastasis, predominantly affecting children and adolescents. This study identified significant metabolic differences between metastatic and non-metastatic OS samples through bioinformatics analysis, highlighting key processes such as cell proliferation, mitochondrial assembly, and changes in mitochondrial membrane permeability. Among differentially expressed genes, Pleckstrin Homology And FYVE Domain Containing 1 (PLEKHF1) was the most significantly downregulated in metastatic OS samples.

Single-atom Ni catalysts hold great promise for the acidic CO reduction reaction (CORR), owing to their high CO selectivity. However, their performance under industrially relevant high current conditions is limited by the weak interaction between isolated Ni-N sites and *COOH intermediates, restricting efficient CO conversion. Here, we introduced edge-rich Ni-N sites via support vacancy engineering to enhance *COOH adsorption, thereby boosting the CORR activity and selectivity in acidic media.

The O3-type NaNiFeMnO material is modified by introducing Sr into the Na sites and Al into the transition metal (TM) sites. The inactive Sr and Al serve as structural pillars within the NaO and TMO slabs, respectively, expanding the interlayer spacing and boosting the stability of the structure. The optimized cathode demonstrates a good rate performance of 117.
