A highly sensitive, selective, and simple method for detecting uranyl ions (UO) is crucial for human health and environmental safety. Amidoxime-based nanomaterials have been widely employed for UO detection, but their higher affinity for vanadium than UO limits their practical applications. Herein, a novel covalent organic polymer fluorescent probe (TT-COP) for UO detection was innovatively developed by a one-step Schiff-base condensation reaction between 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol (Tp).

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major global health threat owing to its multi-drug resistance, creating an urgent need for novel antibiotics. This study focused on developing anti-MRSA agents by designing and synthesizing 30 xanthotoxin-pyridine quaternary ammonium derivatives, followed by evaluating their antibacterial activity and dissecting their mechanism of action against MRSA. Among all derivatives, III13 demonstrated as the most promising candidate: it exhibited potent anti-MRSA activity (MIC = 1 μg/mL), low cytotoxicity, minimal hemolysis, rapid bactericidal effects, and the ability to disrupt biofilms.

Chelating agent contributes to the remediation of heavy metal contaminations, but it remains unclear how they affect the transformation of radioactive pollutants and microbial traits in phytoremediation. We comprehensively investigated on the uranium (U) speciation and microbial communities in the rhizosphere of Macleaya cordata, Paspalum scrobiculatum and Bamboo willow, and analyzed the accumulation of U in the three plants after the addition of chelating agents including 0.1 mmol kg siderophore (DFO) and 2.

To minimize the occupational radiation hazards for workers in uranium or associated radioactive underground mines, it is necessary to control the radon exposure dose in each branch of the mine ventilation network. Firstly, a mathematical model of determining potential alpha energy concentration (PAEC) of radon daughters in a single branch was proposed on the basis of the previous radon concentration calculation model in the ventilation network considering ventilation pressure drop. Then, two estimation models of radon exposure dose based on the equilibrium radon concentration and PAEC of radon daughters are introduced.

The direct introduction of a bromine atom into organic molecules is valuable because of its versatility in synthetic intermediates and modular building blocks but traditionally suffers from poor selectivity and relatively complicated and/or harsh reaction conditions. We herein present the first visible-light-driven organic-dye-catalyzed bromination protocol under mild conditions with high regioselectivity. This methodology leverages rapid intramolecular radical trapping to achieve regioselective monobromination of alkenes, thus effectively suppressing competing dibromination and electrophilic bromination pathways.

The poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) family consists of 17 members of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺)-dependent enzymes that regulate key biological processes by catalyzing adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-ribosylation, either poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation (PARylation) or mono(ADP-ribosyl)ation (MARylation). These biological processes encompass DNA repair, metabolism, telomere maintenance, and immune responses. Based on structural and functional features, the PARP family is classified into subcategories, such as DNA-dependent PARPs, Tankyrase, CCCH-type PARPs, MacroPARPs, and atypical PARPs.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma remains a major health burden in China, where surgical resection is the mainstay of curative therapy. The conventional minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy (MIE-McKeown), although oncologically effective, entails transthoracic access and single-lung ventilation, often resulting in higher postoperative morbidity. Thoraco-laparoscopic transmediastinal esophagectomy has emerged as a novel alternative that may mitigate these risks while preserving oncologic integrity.

Introduction: Mitochondria, situated at the center of intricate signaling networks, play crucial roles in maintaining health and driving disease progression. SFXN2, a recently identified member of the mitochondrial transporter family, is localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane and regulates several critical mitochondrial functions, including iron metabolism, heme biosynthesis, bioenergetics, and redox homeostasis. New evidence also suggests a connection between SFXN2 and mitochondrial dysfunction related human diseases such as Parkinson's disease (PD).

The Deinagkistrodon acutus is the most widely distributed venomous snake in China, and its clinical manifestations are primarily characterized by hemorrhage and coagulation disorders. Previous studies have suggested that mesenteric vascular injury induced by Deinagkistrodon acutus venom may be the primary cause of hemorrhage in envenomation. Protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR1) is highly expressed in vascular tissues and plays an important role in regulating the structure and function of blood vessels.
