Revealing the neural underpinnings of pain sensitivity is crucial for understanding how the brain encodes individual differences in pain and advancing personalized pain treatments. Here, six large and diverse functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) datasets (total N = 1046) are leveraged to uncover the neural mechanisms of pain sensitivity. Replicable and generalizable correlations are found between nociceptive-evoked fMRI responses and pain sensitivity for laser heat, contact heat, and mechanical pains.

Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) can facilitate tumor progression through multiple approaches. Research indicates that CAFs in various tumors exhibit robust lactate metabolism, ultimately becoming the primary source of lactate in the tumor microenvironment. Emerging evidence has established that CAFs could orchestrate gastric cancer (GC) immune evasion.

The two closely related Oriental species of the genus , (Stål, 1867) and (Fabricius, 1787), exhibit remarkable morphological similarity, particularly in their overall red and black body coloration, including the head, thorax, and abdomen. Based on the examination of type specimens and non-type material collected from various localities of southern China, we found these two congeners were misidentified in many previous publications. Due to the restricted distribution and limited population size of in China, most taxonomic, biological, and biocontrol studies conducted under the name or should be instead attributed to To address this confusion regarding these two species, the present study clarifies the taxonomic status of the two controversial species- and .

The topological phase of phononic crystals has garnered significant attention in the design of systems for confining and manipulating acoustic waves due to the robustness of topological states within bandgaps. In this work, we propose a kagome tight-binding model phononic crystal that utilizes the resonant effect coupling between cavities for airborne sound. The topological phase transition within high-order resonant bandgaps is achieved by tuning the coupling strength with the nontrivial phase characterized by a shrunken lattice.

Targeting DNA damage response (DDR) pathways has become a promising strategy for overcoming tumor drug resistance, particularly in cancers with DNA repair defects. DDR pathways, including homologous recombination (HR), non-homologous end joining (NHEJ), base excision repair (BER), and mismatch repair (MMR), are essential for maintaining genomic stability. However, resistance to DDR-targeted therapies, such as PARP inhibitors, often arises due to tumor adaptation through various mechanisms.

The genetic basis of pesticide resistance has been widely studied, but the exact nature of this evolutionary process in the field is often unclear, particularly when a limited number of populations is considered and when there is a lag between the evolutionary event and its investigation. We showed that an unprecedented number of recurrently evolved mutations in an arthropod pest, the two-spotted spider mite , drive the rapid evolution of resistance to a recently commercialized acaricide, cyetpyrafen. We first observed high levels of resistance that appeared and became widespread within three years.

The grain boundaries (GBs) instability induced by photodecomposition of residual PbI is long-standing challenge for further simultaneous improvement of stability and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, a novel GB stabilization strategy through managing unstable residual PbI within perovskite films is reported, which is realized by incorporating 2-iodoimidazole (2-IM) into perovskite precursor solution. The 2-IM can in situ convert unstable residual PbI at GBs into robust metallo-organic complex 2-IMPbI exhibiting an orderly hexagonal layered crystal structure.
