Myocardial infarction (MI), induced by ischemia and hypoxia of the coronary arteries, presents as myocardial necrosis. Patients often experience intense, prolonged retrosternal pain that is unrelieved by rest or nitrate therapy and is frequently associated with high blood myocardial enzyme levels. Physical effort may exacerbate this anxiety, increasing the likelihood of life-threatening consequences such as arrhythmias, shock, or cardiac failure.

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between variability of preoperative ocular biometric measurements and the accuracy of intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation.
Methods: This retrospective study included cataract patients who underwent surgery at the People's Hospital of Baoan Shenzhen from January 2022 to December 2024. Preoperative ocular biometric parameters were measured using the Lenstar LS-900, and the coefficients of variation (CV) of corneal curvature (K1-CV, K2-CV), axial length (AL-CV), anterior chamber depth (ACD-CV) were calculated.

Aims: Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) is a genetic disorder, characterised by high plasma concentrations of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from birth. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of recaticimab, a new humanised anti-PCSK9 antibody capable of reducing LDL-C levels in patients with poorly controlled HeFH.
Methods And Results: REMAIN-3 was a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study done at 25 sites in China.

Schizophrenia (SCZ) and bipolar disorder (BPD) are highly heritable psychiatric disorders with complex genetic and environmental underpinnings. Allele-specific expression (ASE) has emerged as a critical mechanism linking noncoding genetic variants to disease risk through epigenetic and environmental modulation. Here, whole-genome and transcriptome analyses of monozygotic twin pairs discordant for BPD or SCZ are performed, identifying that noncoding genetic variants drive differential ASE patterns of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in affected individuals compared to their unaffected co-twins.

Background: Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE)-guided non/minimized-fluoroscopy catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) has been reported, but its effectiveness and safety still lack multicenter evidence.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ICE-guided non/minimized-fluoroscopy catheter ablation compared with the traditional fluoroscopy-guided approach in patients with paroxysmal AF.
Methods: A total of 448 patients with paroxysmal AF, from 15 centers in China, were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to a non/minimized-fluoroscopy group (n = 223) and a traditional approach group (n = 225).

Heart failure (HF) is a global public health challenge closely associated with oxidative stress and immune dysregulation. However, current therapeutic strategies for HF generally lack specific targeting to cardiac tissue, and the high perfusion rate of the heart further exacerbates insufficient drug accumulation at lesion sites, thus compromising therapeutic efficacy. Inspired by the barb-hook of Xanthium strumarium, FeO@UiO-66 is functionalized with tannic acid (TA) to obtain a dual-target nanocatalyst, termed FUTA.

Chronic excessive alcohol consumption leads to alcohol-associated liver disease(ALD), and its pathogenesis mechanism is related to abnormal autophagy caused by excess alcohol. However, the regulation mechanism in the progression of ALD is still not clear. LINC01018 is a liver-enriched lncRNA that plays pivotal roles in the pathogenesis of liver disease.

Detecting low-concentration foodborne viruses in complex samples has long posed a great challenge. Here, we propose a colorimetric enhancement-surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) quantitative dual-mode immunochromatographic assay (ICA), characterized by high flexibility, sensitivity, and stability, which can rapidly and accurately detect viruses in various environments, including field, home, and clinical laboratory settings. A multifunctional SERS nanozyme tag (DSAIA) is customized using dendritic mesoporous SiO as the core, which is densely loaded with AuIr catalytic particles and coated with a layer of highly active 35 nm Au nanoparticles on the exterior, thereby simultaneously achieving monodispersity, strong peroxidase activity, and a high density of efficient SERS hotspots.

Background: Residency training provides systematic, competency-based education for medical graduates. Although specialised knowledge and clinical skills are crucial in pediatric cardiology, training in China is often limited to 2-3 months with lecture-heavy approaches. We explored integrating clinical pathway(CP) and case-based learning (CBL) models to enhance training efficiency.

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a prevalent condition in the respiratory department and intensive care unit that considerably influences prognosis. Prior research has demonstrated that angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) or dexmedetomidine can improve the prognosis of ARDS. Nonetheless, the combinatorial effect of ACEIs and dexmedetomidine on the prognosis of ARDS remains to be investigated.

The role of metformin and its downstream targets in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) remains unclear. In this study, we used Mendelian randomization to explore potential causal links between genetic proxies of metformin targets, plasma proteins, and the risk of IgAN. Data on plasma protein, metformin target genes, and IgAN data were obtained from the IEU OpenGWAS Project.

Dietary immunization plays a pivotal role in modulating allergic airway inflammation mediated by group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s). This study identifies α-tocopherol (α-Toc), a component of vitamin E, as a key regulator of allergic airway inflammation. Transcriptomic analysis of lung ILC2s from mice treated with α-Toc reveals reduced expression of scavenger receptor class B type 1 (SCARB1) and inhibition of the liver kinase B1 (LKB1)-AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway.
