Helicenes are circularly polarized luminescence (CPL)-active but suffer from a fundamental tradeoff between fluorescence quantum yield (Φ) and luminescence dissymmetry factor (||). Herein, we present a strategy combining lateral π-extension and helical elongation in carbazole-embedded helicenes to address this challenge. Specifically, π-extended diaza[7]helicene () and diaza[9]helicene () were synthesized and characterized, revealing nearly a 2-fold increase in Φ and a 6-fold enhancement in || from to .

Activity-based ubiquitin probes (Ub-ABPs) are powerful tools for studying the functional landscape of deubiquitinases (DUBs). While most existing Ub probes have focused on examining the native state of DUBs, oxidative stress, especially in cancer and inflammatory contexts, can oxidize the catalytic cysteine of DUBs, significantly altering their activity. Here, we developed three novel ubiquitin-based activity probes (Ub-ABPs) to selectively trap the sulfenylated form of deubiquitinases (DUB-SOH).

The insect ionotropic γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor is an important insecticide target, and alternative splicing (AS) among exons 3a, 3b, 6a, and 6b of its RDL subunit is ubiquitous in insects; however, the AS factors and mechanisms remain unclear. While the neuro-oncological ventral antigen (Nova) is known to regulate AS of the γ2 subunit of mammalian GABA receptors, its role in insects remains unexplored. Two CsNova isoforms, CsNova-X1 and CsNova-X3, were identified by BLAST in the third-generation transcriptome of Chilo suppressalis.

The genus Alternaria comprises a wide range of ubiquitous plant pathogens that affect various host plants. Certain mycoviruses can induce changes in the biological characteristics and virulence of host fungi, offering potential for biocontrol in managing fungal plant diseases. Here, we identified a mycovirus with a high degree of homology to Alternaria arborescens victorivirus 1 (AaVV1), which was previously reported from Alternaria arborescens, in the QRH strain of the heterologous host Alternaria gomphrenae.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a potentially life-threatening vascular condition that currently lacks effective pharmacological treatment. The disease is strongly associated with chronic inflammation, where immune cells like macrophages play a crucial role. Efferocytosis, the process by which apoptotic cells are cleared, is involved in regulating inflammation.

Protein phosphorylation regulates protein function and cellular signaling pathways, and is strongly associated with diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Phosphorylation plays a critical role in regulating protein activity and cellular signaling by modulating protein-protein interactions (PPIs). It alters binding affinities and interaction networks, thereby influencing biological processes and maintaining cellular homeostasis.

In the complex process of gene expression and regulation, RNA-binding proteins occupy a pivotal position for RNA. Accurate prediction of RNA-protein binding sites can help researchers better understand RNA-binding proteins and their related mechanisms. And prediction techniques based on machine learning algorithms are both cost-effective and efficient in identifying these binding sites.

Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds (NHCs), widely present in industrial wastewater, pose significant environmental and health risks, yet their identification and characterization remain poorly understood. Herein, we developed a diagnostic fragment list comprising 20 nitrogen-containing fragments for NHCs, by integrating chemical information from Pubchem with the NIST mass spectral library. Leveraging this list, we employed a diagnostic fragment-assisted nontarget screening approach and identified 151 NHCs in iron and steel industry wastewater.

Trimethylation of histone H3 at lys36 (H3K36me3) promotes gene transcription and governs plant development and plant responses to environmental cues. Yet, how H3K36me3 is translated into specific downstream events remains largely uninvestigated. Here, we report that the Arabidopsis PWWP-domain protein HUA2 binds methyl-H3K36 in a PWWP motif-dependent manner.

Lung cancer is the most common cancer and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the world, however, the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still limited, and it is a clinically urgent problem. ROBO1 is an important surface receptor on tumor cells, but the role of humanized chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) modified natural killer (NK) cells targeting ROBO1 in NSCLC is rarely explored. Furthermore, the role of PD-1 in NK cell killing tumor cells remains controversial.
