This work reports an ethanol-mediated freeze-drying (EMFD) strategy that enables the scalable production of high-performance bacterial cellulose aerogels (BCAs), effectively addressing key limitations of conventional methods such as supercritical drying and standard freeze-drying, including fragility, low mechanical strength, and high cost. Specifically, by replacing water in bacterial cellulose hydrogels (BCHs) with ethanol-water solution (EWs) prior to freeze-drying, the process limits ice crystal formation and reduces capillary forces and adhesion, thereby preserving structural integrity and enhancing mechanical properties. The effects of EWs concentration on BCA morphology, volume shrinkage, mechanical strength, and pore structure were systematically investigated.

Despite promising results in using deep learning to infer genetic features from histological whole-slide images (WSIs), no prior studies have specifically applied these methods to lung adenocarcinomas from subjects who have never smoked tobacco (NS-LUAD) - a molecularly and histologically distinct subset of lung cancer. Existing models have focused on LUAD from predominantly smoker populations, with limited molecular scope and variable performance. Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains a major neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive decline, amyloid- (Aβ) aggregation, tau pathology, oxidative stress, and chronic neuroinflammation. In recent years, the dietary flavonoid naringenin, abundant in citrus fruits, has gained attention as a multi-target neuroprotective agent with potential application in AD therapy. Preclinical studies demonstrate that naringenin exhibits robust antioxidant activity, notably through activation of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response element (ARE) signaling pathway, which reduces ROS and preserves mitochondrial integrity.

In-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) based on Fe(II)-activated O is a promising approach for groundwater remediation; however, its efficiency is often limited by the low oxygen content in subsurface environments and insufficient generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). In order to investigate the basic genetic structure of plumage colour in Jingyuan chicken and to explore the genetic markers for plumage colour development, the present study was carried out to investigate the candidate key SNPs and candidate genes regulating black, linen and white plumage and plumage traits of Jingyuan chicken by using selection signal analysis and genome-wide association analysis. Selection signal analyses showed that including 30, 40 and 18 overlapping genes were associated with black, linen and white plumage colours in Jingyuan chicken. Meanwhile, integrative genomic analyses identified BCAT1, LMO3, and PIK3C2G as primary candidates for black plumage, and IL1RAPL1 for white plumage, with all genes showing convergent support across multiple complementary approaches.

Several PPARα agonists, including WY14643, fenofibrate, and gemfibrozil, have been reported to produce antidepressant-like effects in mouse models through PPARα-mediated enhancement of hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signaling and neurogenesis. In the context of critical challenges in curcumin-modified polyurethane synthesis-including limited curcumin bioavailability and suboptimal biodegradability/biocompatibility-a novel polyurethane material (Cur-PU) with good mechanical, shape memory, pH-responsive, and biocompatibility was synthesized via a one-pot, two-step synthetic protocol in which HO-PCL-OH served as the soft segment and curcumin was employed as the chain extender.
