Background: Paediatric patients who underwent surgery for mitral regurgitation (MR) have a high risk of recurrence or death; however, no prediction tool has been developed to risk-stratify this challenging subpopulation.
Methods: In this multicentre cohort study, paediatric patients undergoing surgery for congenital MR in Shanghai Children's Medical Center in January 1st, 2009-December 31st, 2022 were included for analysis while those had a combination with infective endocarditis, anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery, rheumatic valvular disease, connective tissue disease, or single ventricle were excluded. A Cox regression model predictive of the primary outcome (a composite of mortality or mitral valve [MV] re-operation) was derived and converted to a point-based risk score.

Background: Children's mental health is significantly influenced by family environments, where multiple risks often coexist, exert unequal impacts, and combine in different configurations that can result in diverse developmental outcomes. This study examines how different configurations of cumulative family risks influence mental health symptoms in Chinese children using a novel person-centered approach.
Materials And Methods: Data were collected through a large-scale, semester-based comprehensive survey of 34,041 children in Grades 4 to 6 in an economically underdeveloped county-level city in Guangdong, China, during November and December, 2022.

Background: Tripterygium glycoside (TG) has been reported to have the effect of ameliorating Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like symptoms in mice model. However, the underlying mechanism is largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism of TG against AD by integrating metabolomics, 16s rRNA sequencing, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation.

Staphylococcus epidermidis is recognized as the major cause of implanted indwelling medical device-related infections. The ability of S. epidermidis to form biofilms largely increases its resistance to conventional antibiotics, which is the major cause of treatment failure.

Diurnal floret opening and closure (DFOC) is essential for rice reproductive development and hybrid breeding, yet transcriptional dynamics and underlying regulatory networks remain poorly characterized. Here, we conducted high-temporal-resolution transcriptomic analyses of lodicules to dissect DFOC regulatory networks in two japonica rice cultivars. Analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) uncovered core genes shared by both cultivars, primarily associated with jasmonic acid (JA) signaling and cell wall remodeling.

An Ag-functionalized structural color hydrogel (Ag-SCH) sensor is constructed for colorimetric detection of glutathione (GSH). The hydrogel is prepared by using the coordination of Ag and 1-vinylimidazole (1-VI) as cross-linking network. GSH acts as a competitive ligand to break the coordination between Ag and 1-VI, leading to the expansion and structural color change of the hydrogel.

Background: Surgical resection is the cornerstone for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with lobectomy historically standard. Evolving techniques have spurred debate comparing lobectomy and segmentectomy. This study analyzed early postoperative patient-reported symptoms and functional status in patients with early NSCLC undergoing either procedure.

Aging Biomarker Consortium (ABC), Beijing, China.
The global surge in the population of people 60 years and older, including that in China, challenges healthcare systems with rising age-related diseases. To address this demographic change, the Aging Biomarker Consortium (ABC) has launched the X-Age Project to develop a comprehensive aging evaluation system tailored to the Chinese population. Our goal is to identify robust biomarkers and construct composite aging clocks that capture biological age, defined as an individual's physiological and molecular state, across diverse Chinese cohorts.

Primary microcephaly, a rare congenital condition characterized by reduced brain size, occurs due to impaired neurogenesis during brain development. Through whole-exome sequencing, we identified compound heterozygous loss-of-function mutations in CENTRIN 3 (CETN3) in a 5-year-old patient with primary microcephaly. As CETN3 has not been previously linked to microcephaly, we investigated its potential function in neurodevelopment in human pluripotent stem cell-derived cerebral organoids.

3D printing, as a versatile additive manufacturing technique, offers high design flexibility, rapid prototyping, minimal material waste, and the capability to fabricate complex, customized geometries. These attributes make it particularly well-suited for low-temperature hydrogen electrochemical conversion devices-specifically, proton exchange membrane fuel cells, proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells, anion exchange membrane electrolyzer cells, and alkaline electrolyzers-which demand finely structured components such as catalyst layers, gas diffusion layers, electrodes, porous transport layers, and bipolar plates. This review provides a focused and critical summary of the current progress in applying 3D printing technologies to these key components.

Cadmium (Cd) pollution in rice agroecosystems has become a pressing worldwide environmental challenge. Straw return leads to Cd re-entering the soil, yet the impact of straw removal (SR) on Cd mobility and bioavailability within this system remains unclear. We implemented a four-season field study to evaluate how different SR intensities (NSR: no rice straw was removed; HSR: half of the rice straw was removed; TSR: all the rice straw was removed) influence Cd availability in this system.

Membrane receptor recognition is a specific biotargeting strategy for disease diagnosis and treatment, but it suffers from insufficient receptor expression levels. Hydrophobic interaction-based membrane anchoring strategy allows high anchoring density, but it lacks specificity. In this study, we present a DNA nanocage-based artificial receptor generator (DNARG) that combines the advantages of high specificity of receptor recognition and high density of hydrophobic membrane anchoring.

The high sensitivity and wide linearity are crucial for flexible tactile sensors in adapting to diverse application scenarios with high accuracy and reliability. However, conventional optimization strategies of constructing microstructures suffer from the mutual restriction between the high sensitivity and wide linearity. Herein, a novel design of localized gradient conductivity (LGC) with partly covered low-conductivity (low-σ) carbon/Polydimethylsiloxane layer on high-conductivity (high-σ) silver nanowires film upon the micro-dome structure is proposed.

The quest for sustainable and clean energy sources has led to significant research into photocatalytic water splitting, a process that converts solar energy into hydrogen fuel. This study demonstrates constructing a high-performance CdTe/CN van der Waals heterojunction for solar-driven water splitting hydrogen evolution. The proposed CdTe/CN heterojunction, investigated using first-principles calculations, integrates favorable structural stability and features a direct bandgap of 1.

Background: The dopamine D2/D3 antagonist amisulpride has demonstrated its superiority and efficacy in prophylaxis of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Given the branded intravenous amisulpride (Barhemsys) has not been approved in China, there is unmet clinical need for amisulpride. Our primary objective was to ascertain the efficacy and safety of the generic intravenous amisulpride (QLG2069) in the prophylaxis of PONV.

While deep learning-enhanced Raman spectroscopy enables rapid sample analysis, model portability among spectrometers remains hindered by systematic interdevice variations. In this study, a Low-Rank Adaptation-based Calibration Transfer method (LoRA-CT) is proposed to perform parameter-efficient fine-tuning of deep learning models across spectrometers. By decomposing weight updates into low-rank matrices, LoRA-CT achieves superior calibration transfer with minimal samples, reducing trainable parameters by 600× compared to full parameter fine-tuning.

Previous studies have suggested a potential preventive effect of aspirin on colorectal cancer (CRC), but the causal relationship remains unclear. Based on the summary statistics of genome-wide association studies, Mendelian randomization (MR) method was used to assess the genetically predicted effect of aspirin use on CRC risk. Inverse variance weighted (IVW) was used as the main analysis method.
