Background: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) are interconnected vascular complications in diabetes, with dyslipidemia playing a key role. The modifying effect of ASCVD on the lipid-DKD relationship in diabetic patients without lipid-lowering treatment remains unclear.
Methods: This retrospective study included 26,476 type 2 diabetic patients without lipid-lowering therapy.
Background: Meningiomas, the second most common intracranial tumors, account for over one-third of primary central nervous system tumors. Recent studies suggest a link between trace elements, nutrients, and tumor development. This study used Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate causal links between trace elements, nutrients, and meningioma.

Background: Ecnoglutide is a novel biased GLP-1 receptor agonist that preferentially activates the cAMP pathway over β-arrestin recruitment. We aimed to assess both non-inferiority and superiority of ecnoglutide versus dulaglutide, also a GLP-1 receptor agonist, in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We conducted a 52-week, open-label, active-controlled, phase 3 trial at 52 hospitals in China.
Defense-associated reverse transcriptase (DRT) systems are implicated in prokaryotic resistance to viral infections, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying their functionality remain largely unknown. Here, we characterize a two-component DRT9 system, composed of a reverse transcriptase (RT) and a non-coding RNA (ncRNA), which exhibits a protein-primed DNA synthesis activity upon phage infection. We also determine its cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures in different functional states.

The system integrates laser-cooled atomic ions confined in a linear Paul trap with a pulsed molecular beam featuring simultaneous quantum-state and velocity selection. Reaction products are identified using fluorescence imaging and a time-of-flight mass spectrometer.

Therefore, developing long-afterglow luminescent coatings with excellent afterglow performance and pavement properties is crucial. In this study, the combination weighting-VIKOR method was applied to evaluate seven indicators: luminescent brightness, luminous flux, abrasion resistance, skid resistance, adhesion, stain resistance, and ultraviolet aging resistance, to determine the optimal coating ratio.

Objective: To investigate the application value of pediatric sepsis-induced coagulation (pSIC) score and mean platelet volume/platelet count (MPV/PLT) ratio in the diagnosis of pediatric sepsis and the determination of critical pediatric sepsis.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, selecting 112 children with sepsis (sepsis group) admitted to pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of Liaocheng Second People's Hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 as the study objects, and 50 children without sepsis admitted to the pediatric surgery department of our hospital during the same period for elective surgery due to inguinal hernia as the control (control group). The children with sepsis were divided into two groups according to the pediatric critical case score (PCIS).
Application of zero valent iron biochar (ZVI-BC) activated persulfate (PS) oxidation in various antibiotics treatments has been universally confirmed. Full utilization of biomass waste characteristics to reduce usage of toxic reagents in the preparation of ZVI-BC is an environmental optimization strategy. Herein, tetracycline (TC) degradation based on PS-oxidation activated by a novel ZVI-BC (ZVI-FeO-BC) was assessed, in which blueberry pomace extraction substitutes part of sodium borohydride and red mud substitutes iron salt.

Although mitral valve (MV) repair improves outcomes, residual mild mitral regurgitation (MR) is common. This study aims to identify clinical and anatomical factors associated with residual mild MR after MV repair and to assess its impact on MR progression and survival.

Introduction: Lipoproteins and insulin resistance are associated with the prognosis of cardiovascular disease, with strong evidence supporting a causal relationship for some; however, whether lipoproteins and insulin resistance have prognostic value in patients with infective endocarditis after valve surgery remains unclear.
Methods: We included 278 consecutive patients with a definite diagnosis of IE who underwent valve surgery from January 2010 to December 2022. Mortality was analyzed in relation to lipid profile and insulin resistance.
The correlation between the molecular structure of chiral amphiphiles and the enantioselectivity exhibited by their corresponding chiral supramolecular assemblies is a critical factor in enabling asymmetric catalysis. Herein, the self-assembly of l/d-phenylglycine-based amphiphiles (l/d-PhgC, = 8, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20) with varying alkyl chain lengths into chiral supramolecular catalysts via Cu(II) coordination is reported, and their enantioselectivity in catalyzing the asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction is systematically investigated. Among the series, the l-PhgC-based supramolecular catalyst achieves exceptional enantioselectivity (96% ), whereas analogs with shorter ( < 16) or longer ( > 18) alkyl chains display diminished selectivity or even racemic outcomes.

The STING pathway is increasingly recognized as a key regulator of neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative disease, but its role in noninflammatory conditions remains unclear. We generated a postnatal inducible whole-body Ngly1 knockout mouse (iNgly1-/-) to model NGLY1 deficiency, an early-onset neurodegenerative disorder. iNgly1-/- mice exhibit progressive motor deficits, Purkinje cell loss, and shortened lifespan without evidence of gliosis or immune activation.

As a persistent inflammatory dermatological disorder, psoriasis impacts a global population of millions, with existing therapies frequently limited by side effects, high toxicity, and low effectiveness. Herein, we present the design and synthesis of a copper-samarium (Cu-Sm)-based bimetallic nanozyme (CS NPs) with strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics for psoriasis therapy. CS NPs imitate natural antioxidant enzymes and efficiently neutralize HO, OH, and O.

The underlying mechanisms of NP remain unclear, and effective clinical treatments are lacking. Some studies suggest that phosphodiesterase 2A (PDE2A) may contribute to the development of NP.

Background And Objective: The necessity of repeat transurethral resection of bladder tumor (re-TURBT) in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remains a matter of debate. The role of liquid biopsy in predicting residual tumor status and selecting patients who can be spared re-TURBT is still undefined. The aim of our study was to assess the efficacy of the urinary OncoUrine assay for mutation and methylation markers in determining the necessity for re-TURBT in NMIBC.

Supramolecular chiral assemblies are mostly studied as drug carriers because of their enantioselective interaction with biological systems. However, this approach may compromise chirality-dependent therapeutic efficacy and potentially underestimate the significance of chirality in nanomedicine. Herein, supramolecular chiral nanoparticles, D/L-arginine (Arg)-meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl) porphine (TCPP), were constructed through the self-assembly of D/L-Arg and TCPP.

To better exploit the real-time advantages of ultrasound and more conducive to clinical application, we proposed a whole-lesion-aware network based on freehand ultrasound video (WAUVE) scanning in an arbitrary direction for predicting overall breast cancer risk score.
Methods: The WAUVE was developed using 2912 videos (2912 lesions) of 2771 patients retrospectively collected from May 2020 to August 2022 in two hospitals.
