Objectives: Rheumatic mitral disease (RMD) remains a significant health issue, especially in developing regions. Although mitral valve (MV) repair improves outcomes, residual mild mitral regurgitation (MR) is common. This study aims to identify clinical and anatomical factors associated with residual mild MR after MV repair and to assess its impact on MR progression and survival.

Introduction: Lipoproteins and insulin resistance are associated with the prognosis of cardiovascular disease, with strong evidence supporting a causal relationship for some; however, whether lipoproteins and insulin resistance have prognostic value in patients with infective endocarditis after valve surgery remains unclear.
Methods: We included 278 consecutive patients with a definite diagnosis of IE who underwent valve surgery from January 2010 to December 2022. Mortality was analyzed in relation to lipid profile and insulin resistance.
Background: Renal function is a crucial factor affecting the prognosis of patients with end-stage heart failure (HF). The differential impacts of heart transplantation and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation on renal function are unclear. Therefore, we compared the perioperative renal function changes in patients who underwent heart transplantation with that of patients who underwent LVAD implantation.

This study evaluates the clinical outcomes of 77 patients implanted with the CH-VAD across seven centers in China from June 2022 to June 2024. Patients had a mean age of 57.

Objective: The objective was to evaluate the relationship between carotid stenting and off-pump coronary artery grafting (CAS-OPCABG) and OPCABG only in patients with asymptomatic severe carotid stenosis.
Methods: This study retrospectively included 669 patients with asymptomatic severe carotid artery stenosis who underwent OPCABG at multiple centers. After propensity score matching for baseline characteristics, the study compared two groups of patients with clinical data, early and midterm death, stroke, and myocardial infarction (MI).

Objectives: The association between preoperative D-dimer with morphologic features and surgical outcomes of acute type A aortic dissection is still unclear.
Methods: 430 acute type A aortic dissection patients who underwent total arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk in Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University between January 2016 and December 2020 were enrolled in the present study. Patients were divided into higher D-dimer (>2307 ng/ml) group and lower D-dimer (≤2307 ng/ml) group.
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation is an effective alternative treatment to heart transplantation, especially for end-stage heart failure patients who are ineligible for or unable to await a heart transplant. This report describes a complex and innovative surgery where LVAD implantation was performed alongside multiple concomitant cardiac and aortic procedures. A 62-year-old male patient with complicated comorbidities developed acute myocardial infarction and subsequent refractory advanced heart failure.
