Spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) contain high-value strategic metals which are essential for the sustainable resource utilization and eco-environment conservation. Conventional recycling technologies usually involve complicated procedures, high energy consumption and hazardous gas emissions. Hence, a novel process based on "C/S synergistic roasting - water leaching" is put forward to selective and environment-friendly recovery of lithium from spent LIBs.

Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the predictive value of biparametric magnetic resonance imaging(bpMRI)for pelvic lymph node metastasis in prostate cancer patients with PSA≤20 μg/L and establish a nomogram. Methods: The imaging data and clinical data of 363 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from July 2018 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression were used to screen independent risk factors for pelvic lymph node metastasis in prostate cancer, and a nomogram of the clinical prediction model was established.

Achieving carbon peak before 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060 is the solemn commitment of the Chinese government to the international community. It is important to scientifically identify the key influencing factors and accurately predict carbon peak value and time for achieving the dual carbon targets in China. On the basis of the economic and energy consumption data from 1980 to 2022, a STIRPAT extended multivariate-nonlinear model was built, which was fitted by a ridge regression to examine the relationships between carbon emissions of energy consumption and seven influencing factors, including population, GDP per capita, energy intensity, secondary industry proportion, fossil energy proportion, electrification rate, and urbanization rate.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is a common pediatric solid tumor, particularly in children under 2 years. While survival rates for low- and intermediate-risk NB have improved, the prognosis for high-risk patients remains poor. Inflammation plays a crucial role in tumor progression, and systemic inflammation markers have prognostic value in various cancers.

The progress of the transmission remanufacturing industry is in line with the development requirements of the circular economy, but its environmental pollution problems are easily ignored. This study conducted an analysis of pollutant sources and health risks associated with VOCs in gearbox remanufacturing plants. A method for prioritising air pollution control based on health risks and environmental impacts, alongside offering suggestions for VOC prevention and control from an environmental standpoint is established.

The determination of the absolute configuration and enantiomeric composition of chiral species is of great significance. Nevertheless, the accurate quantification through output signals related to the identity of chiral analytes has been rarely reported in this regard. In this study, through the self-assembly of glutathione (GSH) and Cu, supramolecular chiral nanoparticles (GSH-Cu) were constructed for the enantioselective sensing of chiral 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA).

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) combines the high spatial resolution of ultrasound imaging with the high contrast of optical imaging. To reduce acquisition time and lower the cost of photoacoustic imaging, sparse sampling strategy is often employed. Conventional reconstruction methods often produce artifacts when dealing with sparse data, affecting image quality and diagnostic accuracy.

Reactive halogen species (RHS) play important roles in air pollution and climate change. Observational evidence has identified coal and biomass burning as an important source of RHS in polluted continental regions, including the North China Plain (NCP). Over the past ten years, the Chinese government has enacted various mitigation measures to control air pollutant emissions, including a clean energy initiative in the NCP.

Liquid crystal elastomers show promise for artificial muscles, but challenges remain in achieving excellent actuation performance and controllability under diverse operational conditions. This study presents a novel asymmetric braiding method using a Maypole braiding machine to integrate carbon nanotube yarns with liquid crystal elastomer fibers, producing an electrothermal fiber-shaped actuator. The actuator demonstrates exceptional performance in both air and water.

Gaseous nitrous acid (HONO) is a critical contributor to daytime hydroxyl radical in the troposphere. Livestock farming has been recognized as an overlooked HONO source, but the lack of detailed flux measurements from livestock and poultry wastes would cause uncertainties in modeling its environmental impacts. Here, based on field flux measurements and laboratory experiments, we observed substantial HONO emissions from the composting of swine feces and chicken manure in the warm season, which might be mainly attributed to nitrification process in livestock and poultry wastes.

Nitrous acid (HONO) is an important precursor of hydroxy radicals (OH) that determine atmospheric oxidation capacity and thus influence air quality and climate. Like vehicle exhausts and biomass burning, coal combustion is also recognized as a potential direct source of HONO. However, the quantification of HONO emissions from coal combustion is currently limited.

Solid fluidization is a green mining developed method for seabed nondiagenetic gas hydrate reservoirs, which can safely and controllably transport hydrate to land through seabed mining, closed fluidization, and gas-liquid-solid multiphase lift. However, there are many technical problems, such as hydrate and sediment fluidization and improvement of pipeline transportation capacity in the process of multiphase lift. Based on forced spiral flow in a vertical pipe, the numerical simulation of hydrate and sediment slurry in a vertical pipe with a twisted tape is carried out to explore the solid-carrying capacity of spiral flow and expand the safe boundary of multiphase flow.

Bone organoids offer potential for bone regeneration and in vitro organ models. Current limitations in bone organoid culture systems include low efficiency in construction and functionality, as well as increased apoptosis in prolonged cultures of larger sizes. The ketone body 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB), synthesized in the liver, addresses these challenges effectively.

At present, pathological section staining faces several challenges, including complex sample preparation and stringent infrastructure requirements. Virtual staining methods utilizing deep neural networks to automatically generate stained images are gaining recognition. However, most current virtual staining techniques rely on standard RGB microscopy, which lacks spatial spectral information.

Spin Hall nano-oscillators (SHNOs) have garnered significant attention in the field of spintronics in recent years, particularly for their potential in neuromorphic computing. However, their sensitive regions, often below 200 nm, present considerable challenges for fabrication. The current mainstream approach relies on electron beam lithography (EBL) to define the shapes of SHNOs.

Spin Hall nano oscillators (SHNOs) have attracted much attention in recent years due to their great potential for applications in neuromorphic computation. However, the output power of SHNOs is very low and an external magnetic field is required to generate microwave signal continuously, which hinders the further development of SHNOs. In order to solve the two problems, we propose a new-type SHNO based on the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect, while retaining the advantage of the simple fabrication process of the conventional oscillator.

Vegetation is fundamental to regulating the climate system and ensuring carbon balance. Recognizing the effects of climate change (CC) and human activities (HA) is vital for understanding shifts in vegetation. However, climate time-lag effects are rarely measured, resulting in an inadequate assessment of CC's effects on vegetation dynamics.

The green sea turtle () is the only sea turtle species that breeds in China, and the largest remaining nesting grounds for green sea turtles in Chinese waters is found on the Qilianyu atoll of the Xisha Islands. Nesting site selection is particularly important for egg survival, and understanding the microhabitat characteristics of green sea turtle nesting sites is crucial for delineating priority conservation areas for nesting grounds. In this study, we aimed to examine the role of several microhabitat ecological factors in the selection of nesting sites and the success of nesting.

Groundwater is one of the main sources of drinking water, thus, human enteric viruses in groundwater could pose safety risks. Many enteric viruses enter drinking water sources through irrigation or recharge of contaminated water. It is therefore advised to test the potential transport risk with harmless surrogates before wastewater or recycled water is used for irrigation or groundwater recharge.
