What Is Already Known About This Topic?: Zika virus (ZIKV) is transmitted primarily through mosquito vectors, including and , both of which are distributed across multiple provinces in China. Approximately 80% of ZIKV infections remain asymptomatic, while symptomatic cases typically manifest as mild, self-limiting illnesses lacking pathognomonic features. Common clinical presentations include maculopapular rash, low-grade fever, conjunctivitis, arthralgia, and myalgia.

Botulism is a severe muscle paralysis disease mediated by the botulinum toxin. Here, we reported a foodborne botulism case caused by subtype A5(b3) from self-packaged vacuum spicy rabbit heads. Treatment for this case was delayed due to misdiagnosis and insufficient diagnostic capacity in three hospitals, which resulted in progressive clinical deterioration, and eventually, the patient was transferred to Shandong Public Health Clinical Center for specialized therapy.

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), a serotype of the enterovirus species D, has garnered significant attention due to outbreaks reported in 2014, 2016, and 2018. In this study, 36 Chinese EV-D68 strains were isolated, sequenced, and combined with all EV-D68 VP1 sequences from GenBank to form a data set of 1679 sequences. This data set served as the basis for phylogenetic, evolutionary dynamics, phylogeographic, and key amino acid site mutation analyses of EV-D68.

Despite the significant global disease burden associated with HPV infection, the vaccination coverage among female college students in China remains suboptimal. This study aimed to examine HPV vaccination coverage, knowledge levels, and determinants influencing vaccination behavior among female college students in northern China, utilizing the Health Belief Model (HBM) as a theoretical framework. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025, involving 4076 female students from six universities in Jinan, China.

Background: Targeting lactate metabolism represents a promising therapeutic strategy to enhance anti-tumor immune responses. In this study, we developed a novel model based on lactate metabolism-related genes (LRGs) to predict survival, characterize the immune microenvironment, and assess immunotherapy response in gastric cancer (GC), with the potential to identify new biomarkers.
Methods: Data sets of GC patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.

Purpose: We aimed to assess the associations of age of smoking initiation and polygenic risk scores (PRSs), individually and jointly, with the incidence of overall cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), coronary artery disease (CAD), atrial fibrillation (AF), and stroke in adulthood.
Methods: Multivariable-adjusted accelerated failure time models were used to assess the impacts of age of smoking initiation and PRSs on incident overall CVDs, CAD, AF, and stroke in adulthood and to examine their joint effect on these outcomes.
Results: Compared with never smokers, the time ratio (TR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident overall CVDs was 0.

We aimed to analyze the spatio-temporal trend of breast cancer incidence and mortality in Shandong Province from 2012 to 2023 and predict the development trend from 2024 to 2030. Data on the incidence and mortality of breast cancer in Shandong Province from 2012 to 2023 were obtained from the Shandong Cancer Registry. The incidence, age-specific incidence, mortality, and age-specific mortality in different years, as well as in urban and rural areas, were calculated, and the rates were standardized based on the age composition of the Chinese standard population in 2000.

Background: The causal relationship between leisure sedentary behaviors (LSBs) and chronic kidney disease, diabetes and related complications is still equivocal. In this study, we performed two-sample Mendelian randomization for declaring the potential causal association between LSBs and these diseases and summarized the causal estimates.
Methods: In this study, we used GWAS summary statistics from the public database for exposures (LSB: television watching, computer use, and driving) and outcomes (chronic kidney diseases, diabetes mellitus, and related complications).

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by SFTS virus (SFTSV). Shandong province is one of the epidemic regions with high incidence rate of SFTS. To investigate phylogenetical and genetic evolution characteristics of SFTSV in Shandong province, we isolated SFTSV from suspected patients between April 2023 and October 2024, and then whole SFTSV genomes were amplified and sequenced in this study.

Introduction: China had already experienced two COVID-19 epidemics since the promulgation of 10 new prevention and control measures in December 2022.
Methodology: In response to the current frequent epidemics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 variants in China and the gradual relaxation of prevention and control policies, we built and ran a susceptible-exposed-infective-removed-susceptible-quarantined model incorporating self-isolation to predict future cases of COVID-19.
Results: Four waves of outbreaks were predicted to occur in November 2023, and in April, July, and November 2024.

Motivation: Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) has revolutionized our ability to observe structures from the subcellular to the atomic level in their native states. Achieving high-resolution reconstruction involves collecting tilt series at different angles and subsequently backprojecting them into 3D space or iteratively reconstructing them to build a 3D volume of the specimen. However, the intricate computational demands of tomographic reconstruction pose significant challenges, requiring extensive calculation times that hinder efficiency, especially with large and complex datasets.

China experienced another outbreak of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC) in 2023, with a total of 195 297 recorded cases. This marks the third nationwide outbreak in nearly two decades, following previous outbreaks in 2007 and 2010. Descriptive epidemiological analysis shows that the number of cases in 2023 peaked in September, similar to the last two outbreaks.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells have encouraging results in the treatment of hematological malignancies. However, CAR-T therapy still faces numerous challenges against solid tumors, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), owing to heterogeneous antigen expression in tumor cells, limited persistence of CAR-T cells, etc. Therefore, to treat HCC more effectively, we connected the molecular receptor NKBB to a second-generation glypican-3 (GPC3) CAR to construct GC3328z-NKBB CAR-T cells, which have double specific targets of GPC3 and NKG2DLs (natural killer group 2, member D ligands), dual co-stimulation of CD28 and 41BB, and a single CD3ζ chain.

3D printed titanium scaffold has promising applications in orthopedics. However, the bioinert titanium presents challenges for promoting vascularization and tissue growth within the porous scaffold for stable osteointegration. In this study, a modular porous titanium scaffold is created using 3D printing and a gradient-surface strategy to immobilize QK peptide on the surface with a bi-directional gradient distribution.

Purpose: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an acute viral infection disease with a high mortality, but there are no specific effective drugs or vaccines available for use. To develop effective treatment methods, more basic researches are urgently needed to elucidate the response mechanisms of patients.
Patients And Methods: Here, we conducted the transcriptomic analysis of peripheral immunity in 14 SFTS patients, ranging from moderate infection to severe and fatal disease.
