Zeolite synthesis from fly ash offers recycling and environmental benefits for carbon dioxide capture, but varying fly ash composition from different sources has different compositions, leading to inconsistent adsorption results. To achieve high CO adsorption performance and stability in zeolite synthesis from fly ash systems, this study established an element-controlled simulated fly ash system with Ca/Fe gradient differences. Hydrothermal synthesis yielded zeolites with optimized oxide ratios for CO adsorption.

Conventional methods for soil sampling and soil water content (SWC) measurement are often labor-intensive and time-consuming. The Pedo-transfer function (PTF) integrating soil spectroscopy with soil physicochemical properties provides a more efficient approach for SWC estimation. However, existing studies highlight regional limitations in the accuracy of PTFs across diverse geographical regions.

RNA modifications regulate phenotype and function of macrophages by regulating RNA translation, splicing, and stability. However, the role of -methylguanosine (mG) modification in macrophages and inflammation remains unexplored. In this study, we observed elevated levels of the methyltransferase METTL1 and mG modifications in macrophages from mouse and human tissues during acute kidney injury (AKI).

This study aimed to investigate the role of natural killer (NK) cells in the RANKL/RANK/OPG pathway in osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). C57 mice were categorized into a control group, an observation group (10 mice each), and an experimental group comprising 4 NK cell knockout mice. A hormone-induced femoral head necrosis model was created by administering lipopolysaccharide combined with methylprednisolone for 8 weeks to the experimental and control groups.

To investigate the failure behavior and cracking mechanisms in surrounding rock, a true triaxial experimental system and digital imaging were employed to perform compression tests on sandstone specimens containing preexisting flaws. Experimental results revealed the propagation characteristics of microfractures under stress concentration conditions and their correlation with failure patterns. Furthermore, a fracture propagation model was implemented to evaluate the susceptibility of surrounding rock to failure.

Using monometallic catalysts to selectively catalyze methane to methanol while suppressing the formation of liquid-phase overoxide products is beneficial for industrial applications. However, the balance between yield and selectivity over monometallic active sites remains challenging. This work proposes a strategy anchoring binary rhodium species to influence their surface dispersion properties.

Despite the potential of Zn metal batteries (ZMBs) due to their low cost, environmental benefits, and favorable Zn/Zn redox potential, challenges such as low Zn utilization and parasitic reactions hinder their performance. These issues arise from the thermodynamic instability of the Zn anode and high-desolvation energy barriers. To overcome these challenges, this study investigates two zwitterionic compounds with hydrophilic and zincophilic functional groups, BES (N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) and MES (2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid), selecting BES as the optimal electrolyte additive.

Cellulose-based paper, widely used in cultural heritage preservation and art, suffers from inherent flammability. Conventional phosphorus-based flame retardants, derived from depleting phosphate ores, necessitate sustainable alternatives. This study introduces an innovative layer-by-layer assembly strategy to fabricate biomass-derived MH-P@Mn and MH-P@Ni core-shell flame retardants.

Fully mechanized top-coal caving inevitably results in a certain thickness of retained coal above the roadway, which compromises roof stability and increases the difficulty of roof management. This study presents a dynamic disaster phenomenon in the Binchang mining area of China, where high-energy seismic events (HESEs) induced roof collapse in roadways with retained top coal. Disaster characteristic analysis indicates that in high-stress zones, the support system in roadways with retained top coal gradually deteriorates under mining-induced stress loading, and HESEs lead to roof support failure and roof collapse.

The lack of safe and efficient delivery vectors remains a major bottleneck in nucleic acid therapeutics, limiting clinical translation. In this study, by incorporating the synergistic effects of guanidinium and tertiary amine functional groups, a new versatile branched poly-(β-amino ester) (PAE)-based delivery system was designed and developed, resulting in enhanced nucleic acid (DNA/mRNA) delivery. The synergistic interactions between these functional groups were systematically analyzed using 2D-NMR, AFM, TEM, and photophysical characterization.

The MBTPS1 gene, which is located on chromosome 16q24, encodes the membrane-bound transcription factor protease site-1 (MBTPS1), commonly referred to as site-1 protease (S1P). S1P can process a variety of substrates independently or in conjunction with membrane-bound transcription factor protease site-2 (MBTPS2, also known as S2P), including sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and cyclic-AMP responsive element‑binding protein 3 (CREB3). Variants in the MBTPS1 gene can lead to multiple clinically distinct disorders with different phenotypes, including spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia of Kondo-Fu type (SEDKF), Cataract, alopecia, oral mucosal disorder, and psoriasis-like (CAOP) syndrome, and Silver-Russell-like syndrome (SRS).

Inorganic CsPbI perovskite solar cells (PSCs) hold notable promise but suffer from instability in maintaining the photoactive black phase under ambient and thermal conditions; this work systematically investigates the impacts of phenylenediamine dihydrochloride (PPD·2HCl, containing ammonium groups) and terephthalimidamide dihydrochloride (TPID·2HCl, featuring amidinium groups) ligands on device performance and stability, with a focus on dissecting TPID's thermal stabilization mechanisms. While both ligands enhance room-temperature phase stability via surface defect passivation, TPID·2HCl-treated devices exhibit superior thermal resilience: its amidinium group features delocalized electron density across the N-C-N skeleton, strengthening coordination with undercoordinated sites and mitigating lattice distortion under heat; thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) shows TPID·2HCl decomposes at ∼350 °C with gradual mass loss, surpassing PPD·2HCl's rapid degradation at ∼300 °C; density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal TPID binds more strongly to the CsPbI surface (adsorption energy: -1.51 eV vs -1.

The escalating complexity of pest dynamics, characterized by intensifying seasonal pressures and unpredictable acute outbreaks, necessitates advanced agrochemicals capable of dynamically adapting to ecological rhythms. Inspired by the dual-phase biocontrol strategy of parasitoid wasps (immediate paralysis and sustained suppression), we engineered a Prussian blue (PB)-based nanopesticide (PAPP) with spatiotemporally decoupled release modes. Architecturally, the system integrates pH-responsive PB (alkaline-triggered disintegration) cores with thermosensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM, heat-induced volumetric transition) nanohydrogel gates, achieving dual-modal pest management: alkaline-triggered burst avermectin (AVM) release (91.

Carbon dots (CDs) have been widely employed to fabricate various fluorescent chemosensors owing to their favorable photo-physicochemical properties and versatile surface modification feasibility. However, reports on CDs as a dual recognition platform for sensitive and selective detection of different analytes are very limited. In this study, highly negatively charged green emitting nitrogen-doped CDs were synthesized by a hydrothermal approach using 1,3,6-trinitropyrene and ascorbic acid as precursors, which subsequently self-assembled with positively charged methylviologen (MV) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) to form CDs-MV and CDs-PEI nanocomposites, respectively, by electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bond.
