Accurately classifying and identifying non-cooperative targets is paramount for modern space missions. This paper proposes an efficient method for classifying and recognizing non-cooperative targets using deep learning, based on the principles of the micro-Doppler effect and laser coherence detection. The theoretical simulations and experimental verification demonstrate that the accuracy of target classification for different targets can reach 100% after just one round of training.

The manipulation of polarization states is crucial for tailoring light-matter interactions and has great applications in fundamental science. Nevertheless, conventional polarization measurement approaches are extremely challenging to determine the polarization state of incident terahertz (THz) beams. The combination of metasurfaces and inhomogeneous vector vortex beams (VVBs) provides a new solution for integrated polarization-related functional devices.

The research on terahertz wave manipulation based on metasurfaces has gradually deepened, and the number of functions or electromagnetic control dimensions in a single device is constantly increasing. For the spatial dimension of terahertz field regulation, its design degrees of freedom have been expanded from a single transverse plane to the propagation path. In this paper, we propose a novel circularly polarization multiplexed metasurface for dual channel terahertz wave transmission control.

Micro-fabrication based on structured-beam-assisted Two-Photon Polymerization (2 PP) provides a rapid and flexible method for the manufacture of microstructures with complex morphologies. The tunable Abruptly Autofocusing Vortex (AAFV) beams were designed theoretically and generated experimentally based on a single-phase-only Spatial Light Modulator (SLM). Their specific spatial intensity distributions were further utilized to assist the fabrication of a bowl-shaped Three-Dimensional (3D) micro-trap array via 2 PP with a one-step exposure technique.

Designing low-power and flexible artificial neural devices with artificial neural networks is a promising avenue for creating brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). Herein, we report the development of flexible In-Ga-Zn-N-O synaptic transistors (FISTs) that can simulate essential and advanced biological neural functions. These FISTs are optimized to achieve ultra-low power consumption under a super-low or even zero channel bias, making them suitable for wearable BCI applications.

Functional devices for terahertz (THz) polarization detection in transmission mode are highly desired in integrated applications, but traditional polarization measurement systems are bulky and highly cost. The combination between all-silicon metasurfaces and focused beams carrying polarization information has offered a new opportunity for miniaturized polarization detection behavior. Here, we investigate and experimentally demonstrate a new scheme for realizing efficiently miniaturized polarization detection behavior based on the polarization multiplexing encoding technique.

Conventional metasurfaces for terahertz polarization are limited to performing lateral (in the plane) polarization control of the output wave. In such cases, the polarization state remains unchanged in each output plane along the propagation path. Herein, we propose a terahertz polarization metasurface that operates longitudinally (i.

Accurate detection and characterization of defects in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe materials are very important in assessing the structural integrity of critical structures in the nuclear industry. One specific challenge here is the presence of the viscoelastic attenuation of this material, which can lead to resolution degradation and loss of detail in ultrasound imaging. In this work, an effective ultrasonic imaging technique using the least-squares reverse time migration with preconditioned stochastic gradient descent (LSRTM-PSGD) is developed to improve image quality.

Flexible electronic and optoelectronic devices are highly desirable for various emerging applications, such as human-computer interfaces, wearable medical electronics, flexible display, etc. Layered two-dimensional (2D) material is one of the most promising types of materials to develop flexible devices due to its atomically thin thickness, which gives it excellent flexibility and mechanical endurance. However, the 2D material devices fabricated on flexible substrate inevitably suffer from mechanical deformation, which can severely affect device performances, resulting in function degradation and even failure.

AgS quantum dot (QD) photodetectors (PDs) have attracted a lot of attention in the field of imaging system and optical communication. However, the current AgS PDs mainly works in the near-infrared band, and its detection ability in the visible band remains to be strengthened. In this paper, we used poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) with high carrier mobility and AgS QDs to construct heterojunction PD.

All-dielectric metasurfaces have led to a surge of activities in the field of polarization converters due to their extremely significant potential in the manipulation of terahertz waves. Herein, a versatile all-dielectric metasurface platform that can realize dual-functional polarization manipulation for the orthogonal states of polarization in the terahertz frequency range is proposed. Furthermore, such metasurface platform exhibits the properties of a full-waveplate for one circularly polarized light, and a quarter-waveplate for the orthogonal circularly polarized light.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are promising candidates for developing next generation electronic/optoelectronic devices with programmable multi functions, due to their widely tunable properties by various physical stimuli. Mechanical strain is one of the most promising means to effectively modulate the physical properties of 2D materials. Nevertheless, few studies reported micro/nano scale controllable strain application platforms, limiting the development of novel mechano-electrical/optoelectrical devices based on 2D materials.

Chirality is a unique feature of Weyl cones and can support helicity-dependent photocurrent generation, known as circular photogalvanic effect. Here, we report circular photogalvanic effect with opposite signs at two different mid-infrared wavelengths which provides evidence of Weyl-related optical responses.

Liquid crystals (LCs) have been widely used as sensitive elements to construct LC biosensors based on the principle that specific bonding events between biomolecules can affect the orientation of LC molecules. On the basis of the sensing interface of LC molecules, LC biosensors can be classified into three types: LC-solid interface sensing platforms, LC-aqueous interface sensing platforms, and LC-droplet interface sensing platforms. In addition, as a signal amplification method, the combination of LCs and whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microcavities can provide higher detection sensitivity due to the extremely high quality factor and the small mode volume of the WGM optical microcavity, which enhances the interaction between the light field and biotargets.

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are propagating electromagnetic surface waves with local electric field enhancement and nondiffraction limit at optical frequencies. At terahertz (THz) frequencies, a metal line with periodic grooves can mimic the optical SPPs with the same high cut-off response, which is referred to as designer SPPs. Here, by replacing metal grooves with graphene sheets, a novel active metal-graphene hybrid SPP device achieves significant phase modulation.

The direct photocurrent detection capability of light orbital angular momentum (OAM) has recently been realized with topological Weyl semimetals, but it is limited to the near-infrared wavelength range. The extension of the direct OAM detection capability to the mid-infrared band, which is a wave band that plays an important role in a vast range of applications, has not yet been realized. This is because the photocurrent responses of most photodetectors are neither sensitive to the phase information nor efficient in the mid-infrared region.
