College of Life Science and Engineering, Foshan University, Foshan, Guangdong 528231, China. Electronic address:

Assemblage E of Giardia duodenalis, primarily infecting ruminants, has been relatively understudied both in vivo and in vitro. Due to unsuccessful attempts at in vitro cultivation, this study focused on establishing an economical, stable, and clinically relevant experimental animal model for Assemblage E infections. Cysts were purified from bovine feces via 33 % zinc sulfate flotation, with Assemblage E identity confirmed by gdh gene sequencing.

An one-pot method was used to prepare bimetallic nanozymes, with chitosan (CS) and l-tyrosine (L-Tyr) as stabilized dispersed colloidal solutions and a carrier for gold-platinum single atoms (Au-Pt SAs), which exhibited excellent peroxidase activity. A colorimetric method based on CS/L-Tyr/Au-Pt SAs nanozymes was constructed for the colorimetric detection of quercetin (QR) in human serum and orange juice. The synthesized bimetallic nanozymes were characterized by SEM, TEM, HAADF-STEM, FT-IR, XRD and XPS techniques to demonstrate the successful synthesis of CS/L-Tyr/Au-Pt SAs nanozymes.

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Gynecologic Oncology, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 201204, China.

Syncytiotrophoblasts (STBs) constitute one of the core components of the placenta, responsible for synthesizing pregnancy-sustaining hormones such as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Deficient syncytialization of cytotrophoblasts affects the hormonal secretion and placental development, contributing to pregnancy-associated disorders, including spontaneous miscarriage. To date, the molecular mechanisms, particularly the role of transcription factors (TFs), in STB lineage specification remain incompletely understood.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized primarily by arterial and/or venous thrombosis, obstetric complications and persistent positivity for antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs). It has been proposed that the pathogenesis of APS is closely associated with vascular endothelial cell activation, complement activation and platelet activation. Notably, APS may be key to understanding the relationship between innate immune cells, and thrombosis and obstetric complications.

A bidirectional interfacial engineering strategy for highly stable sodium metal batteries.

Chem Sci

August 2025

Siyuan Laboratory, Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center of Vacuum Coating Technologies and New Materials, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Nanophotonic Manipulation, Department of Physics, College of Physics & Optoelectronic Engineering, Jinan University Guangzhou 510632

Sodium (Na) metal batteries (SMBs) are regarded as some of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems due to their high energy density. However, their practical application is severely hindered by interfacial instabilities at both the anode and cathode, which result in rapid capacity degradation during cycling. Here, we proposed a bidirectional interfacial regulation strategy that simultaneously stabilizes both electrode interfaces.

Electrochemistry-Accelerated Water-Gas Shift Reaction on IrN-RhN Dual Sites Catalysts for Efficient Hydrogen Production.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Chemo and Biosensing, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, International Joint Lab of Energy Electrochemistry of the Ministry of Education, Hunan University, Changsha, 410082, China.

The water-gas shift reaction (WGSR) is crucial to the hydrogen economy, which is hampered by the harsh conditions and complicated purification process. In this work, the spatially separated efficient CO conversion and high-purity H production are realized by electrochemistry-accelerated water-gas shift reaction (WGSR) with IrN-RhN dual sites single atom catalysts (IrRh-NC) in high-temperature polymer-electrolyte-membrane electrolyzer. In this reaction, the Ir single atoms in the catalysts can rapidly dissociate HO at an extremely low potential to supply abundant *OH, which ensures the *OH groups bind to the spontaneously adsorbed *CO on neighboring Rh sites to further accelerate CO conversion.

Department of Emergency, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, Nanning 530021, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China; Key Laboratory of Emergency Medicine in Guangxi Universities, Nanning 530021, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Electronic address:

Acute lung injury significantly contributes to mortality in bacterial sepsis due to lung endothelial barrier destruction, leading to protein-rich lung edema, an influx of proinflammatory leukocytes, and persistent hypoxemia. CTRP3, an adipokine, reduces endothelial adhesion molecules Vcam-1 and Icam-1 and inhibits LPS-induced monocytic adhesion, highlighting its anti-inflammatory effects. This study investigates CTRP3's protective role in sepsis-induced acute lung injury, revealing reduced CTRP3 expression during sepsis, which worsens endothelial dysfunction.

Taurine Supplementation Enhances the Resistance of Postlarvae to Low-Salinity Stress.

Biology (Basel)

August 2025

Key Laboratory of Aquacultural Facility Engineering (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), College of Fisheries, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan 430070, China.

In aquaculture, Pacific white shrimp () growth in low-salinity waters is limited by osmoregulatory stress; therefore, improving resistance to low-salinity stress via nutritional modulation is key. In the present study, shrimp postlarvae were provided with a taurine supplement under low-salinity stress, and then the survival rate, the histology, the Na/K-ATPase (NKA) expression pattern and transcriptomic sequencing were investigated to evaluate the postlarval responses. The results showed that the postlarva survival rate in low-salinity water was only 61.

August 2025

Key Laboratory of Tropical Translational Medicine of Ministry of Education & Key Laboratory of Brain Science Research Transformation in Tropical Environment of Hainan Province, School of Basic Medicine and Life Sciences, Hainan Medical University, Haikou 571199, China.

Skin aging is commonly characterized by increased wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and hyperpigmentation, significantly affecting personal appearance and quality of life. Although botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) has been widely applied in cosmetic anti-wrinkle treatments, its intrinsic cytotoxicity limits broader clinical applications. In this study, we developed a novel exosome-based BTX-A composite delivery system designed to synergize the anti-aging properties of exosomes with the wrinkle-reducing effects of BTX-A while reducing toxicity.

Early weaning of piglets elicits weaning stress, which in turn induces oxidative stress and consequently impairs growth and development. Hydrogen-rich water (HRW), characterized by selective antioxidant properties, mitigates oxidative stress damage and serves as an ideal intervention. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of HRW on weaned piglets, specifically investigating its impact on growth performance, diarrhea incidence, antioxidant function, intestinal morphology, gut microbiota, and hepatic metabolites.
