Background: Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentary disorder caused by the loss of functional melanocytes. Increasing evidence suggests that competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) interactions participate in this process, yet their global architecture in vitiligo remains unclear.
Objective: To delineate a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)-microRNA (miRNA)-mRNA ceRNA network associated with vitiligo and to identify blood-borne RNA markers with diagnostic potential.

Rationale: Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare but potentially life-threatening neurological condition. In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), PRES can occur as a complication of hypertension, renal dysfunction, or immunosuppressive treatment, and is often difficult to distinguish from neuropsychiatric lupus.
Patient Concerns: A 17-year-old woman was diagnosed with SLE, presenting with fever, hypertension, and severe lower limb edema.

Case 1: A 19-day-old male infant presented with poor feeding and decreased activity for 2 weeks, worsening with poor responsiveness for 3 days. At 5 days old, he developed poor feeding and poor responsiveness, was hospitalized, and was found to have elevated blood ammonia and thrombocytopenia. Whole-genome genetic analysis revealed a pathogenic homozygous mutation in the gene, NM-000282.

Melasma is a recurrent and treatment-resistant hyperpigmentation disorder characterized by a complex and multifactorial pathogenesis. However, the lack of a stable and reliable animal model has hindered systematic investigations into its onset and progression. In this study, we established a melasma-like model in C57BL/6J mice by combining broadband UVB irradiation, intramuscular progesterone administration, and induced emotional stress.

Mangrove forests offer a wide range of ecosystem services, including coastal protection and climate regulation. These ecosystems serve as significant carbon sinks, effectively sequestering and storing carbon in their biomass and sediments. However, various human activities have an impact on carbon stocks in mangroves.

The global invasive species, Spartina alterniflora has caused significant damage to coastal wetland ecosystems in China. This study evaluated the effectiveness and ecological impacts of two S. alterniflora management strategies in the Yangtze River estuary: Haloxyfop-R-methyl application and repeated mowing (once at the early flowering stage and once nine weeks later).

Objective: We explored the prevalence and determinants of hypoglycemia in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and we developed and validated a nomogram prediction model.
Methods: We extracted data from the clinical records of 475 patients with GDM attending the tertiary class A specialized hospital in Zhuhai City between December 2021 and June 2023 for a modeling group, and we used data of another cohort of 204 GDM cases for a validation group. We conducted a logistic regression analysis to identify factors associated with hypoglycemia in patients with GDM and generated a risk prediction model presented as a nomogram.

Background: Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has been widely reported to provide crucial information for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. In this study, we aimed to evaluate mNGS in pathogens diagnosis of lung infections.
Methods: A total of 188 patients who were suspected of pulmonary infection and received medical treatment at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from August 2022 to December 2023 were enrolled in this study.
Background: Sympathetic overactivity is closely associated with vascular remodeling. Sympathetic fibers dominantly innervate the adventitia of arteries rather than tunica media. Vascular adventitial fibroblasts (VAFs) play crucial roles in vascular remodeling.

Background: Melasma is a common disease that is difficult to treat, with no recognized animal model for mechanism research or drug screening.
Objectives: To develop a novel, standardized mouse model of melasma.
Materials And Methods: Three different strains of mice (C57BL/6J, BALB/c, and KM) were used to create a melasma-like model across various body regions.
Patulin (PAT) is a hazardous mycotoxin that contaminates fruits and their products, causing significant economic losses. An aldo-keto reductase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (ScAKR) was expressed in Escherichia coli in this study. The purified ScAKR converted PAT to E-ascladiol with NADPH as a cofactor.

This study investigates the photosynthetic responses of Phragmites australis, a model wetland plant with a broad geographic distribution, to temperature variations across three distinct temporal scales. We analysed short-term responses using net photosynthesis rate temperature curves, medium-term acclimation across three growth temperature regimes, and long-term adaptation of phylogeographical groups to their genotypic origins' climate.

Two-dimensional (2D) metals are appealing for many emergent phenomena and have recently attracted research interests. Unlike the widely studied 2D van der Waals (vdW) layered materials, 2D metals are extremely challenging to achieve, because they are thermodynamically unstable. Here we develop a vdW squeezing method to realize diverse 2D metals (including Bi, Ga, In, Sn and Pb) at the ångström thickness limit.

The mycotoxin patulin in processed apple juice poses a significant threat to food safety, driving the need for effective detoxification strategies. ATCC 621 can detoxify patulin to ascladiol using either the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDRs)─GOX0525, GOX1899, and GOX0716─or the aldo-keto reductase (AKR) GOX1462. While GOX0525 and GOX1899 have been previously characterized, this study focuses on GOX0716 and GOX1462, evaluating their optimal pH, thermostability, thermoactivity, and substrate specificity, thereby completing the characterization of all four reductases.

The nonconventional yeast Yarrowia lipolytica also undergoes bipolar budding, and its genome encodes YlRax1 (YALI0E10329) and YlRax2 (YALI0A04609), the orthologs of Rax1 and Rax2, respectively. In this study, we explored the roles of YlRax1 and YlRax2 in the bipolar budding of Y.

Recent advances have uncovered an exotic sliding ferroelectric mechanism, which endows to design atomically thin ferroelectrics from non-ferroelectric parent monolayers. Although notable progress has been witnessed in understanding the fundamental properties, functional devices based on sliding ferroelectrics remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate the rewritable, non-volatile memories at room-temperature with a two-dimensional (2D) sliding ferroelectric semiconductor of rhombohedral-stacked bilayer MoS.

Despite notable progress, so far the showcased 2D flexible ICs have been constrained to basic logic gates and ring oscillators with a maximum integration scale of a few thin film transistors (TFTs), creating a significant disparity in terms of circuit scale and functionality. Here, we demonstrate medium-scale flexible ICs integrating both combinational and sequential elements based on 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS).

Latexin (LXN) is a secreted protein with a molecular weight of 29 KD, which is considered a tumor suppressor and plays an important role in the inflammatory immune response. LXN is highly expressed in macrophages and regulates macrophage polarity and tumor immune escape, demonstrating excellent clinical potential. However, its mechanism is still unclear.

The Yellow Sea coast is considered as an ecological bottleneck for migratory waterbirds along the East Asian-Australasian flyway (EAAF), and is also an important wind farm base in China. However, the effects of large-scale onshore wind farms along the EAAF on multidimensional waterbird diversity, and how to mitigate these effects, remain unclear.

Iron (Fe) oxides in wetland soils are crucial for stabilizing soil organic carbon (SOC) by forming stable Fe-OC complexes, thus protecting SOC from microbial breakdown and aiding its preservation. This study delves into the response of Fe (hydr-)oxides to salt stress, a relatively unexplored area, by examining Kandelia obovata, a key mangrove species. Through controlled climate chamber experiments, we investigated how salt stress affects the interactions between Fe (hydr-)oxides and SOC in root exudates (REs) and rhizosphere soils.
