Purpose: To compare the long-term clinical outcomes and radiographic findings between hybrid surgery (HS) and anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for three-level cervical degenerative disc disease (CDDD). And the incidence, prognosis, and potential risk factors of heterotopic ossification (HO) more than 10 years after Bryan prosthesis replacement in HS has been explored.
Methods: From January 2007 to December 2014, a total of 46 patients who underwent either HS (n = 26) or ACDF (n = 20) for consecutive three-level CDDD were retrospectively analyzed.
Objective: To explore the effect of nano-hydroxyapatite/collagen composite (nHAC) on bone graft fusion after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) in patients with cervical spondylosis and low bone mass.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 47 patients with low bone mass who underwent ACDF from 2017 to 2021. They were divided into the nHAC group and the allogeneic bone group according to different bone graft materials.
Sex determination in insects is a product of long-term evolutionary selection, characterized by intricate and highly variable mechanisms across different taxa. The Sakhalin pine sawyer, Monochamus saltuarius, has recently been recognized as a vector for the pine wood nematode in China. However, the candidate genes and molecular mechanisms underlying sex determination in M.

Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima [C. mollissima] Blume), an important nut crop with recalcitrant seeds and contributor to forest ecosystem services, faces challenges due to seed abortion, which seriously influences yield. In this study, stark microstructural and ultrastructural differences were observed between fertile and abortive seeds, with the abortive seeds exhibiting abnormal cell wall shapes and irregular thickening.

Silicone medical devices are widely used as various medical devices due to their excellent advantages when compared with petroleum-derived polymers. Thrombosis and bacterial infections are two vital challenges of blood-contacting silicone devices. The traditional strategies used for contact antibacterial silicone typically facilitate thrombosis due to electrostatic interactions.

HIPPEs with varying Lyc concentrations were formulated, and their encapsulation efficiency and antioxidant activity (DPPH and ABTS assays) were evaluated. The encapsulation efficiency of Lyc exceeded 90% for all samples.

However, the underlying mechanisms of its action remain poorly understood. This study aims to investigate the effects of EEN on the gut microbiome and metabolome of CD patients and to elucidate the mechanisms responsible for EEN-induced remission.

Spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury (SCIRI) is a serious disease that leads to the loss of sensory and motor functions and is a common complication after spinal cord injury, spinal cord degeneration or thoracic and abdominal aortic surgery. At present, the spinal cord is mainly protected from ischemic injury through treatment strategies such as hypothermia, surgery and drug assistance, but these intervention measures cannot effectively improve these conditions. SCIRI is a complex process that leads to cell damage and death.

The pectate lyase gene FvPLB has been implicated in the regulation of fruit softening in previous studies. We have now also found that abortions occurred in FvPLB overexpression lines. After overexpression of FvPLB, the cellulose content in the pollen grain and pollen tube wall was not affected, but the esterified and de-esterified pectin content in the pollen grain and pollen tube wall was significantly reduced, resulting in looser cell walls and deeper pollen grain deformation.

Background: With aging, frailty and hypertension become increasingly prevalent comorbidities in the older population. Therefore, the aim of the study is to identify effective druggable targets for these conditions.
Methods: We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis to assess the causal effects of 2532 druggable genes on frailty, hypertension, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.
Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been established as an independent risk factor for osteoporosis, often resulting in a poor prognosis. Thus, it is crucial for clinicians to diagnose osteoporosis in diabetic patients. This study aimed to develop a prediction model for osteoporosis in people with T2D from China.

However, its regulatory role in the mammary glands (MGs) of cows with clinical mastitis (CM) remains unclear. This study examined MG tissue samples collected from healthy Holstein cows and those with CM caused by ( = three per group) to identify candidate biomolecular targets involved in immune homeostasis in dairy cows affected by mastitis through a proteomics-based bioinformatic analysis and analyze their expression and localization in MG tissues.

While surgical decompression reduces SCIWORA risk, some patients are ineligible or reluctant to undergo surgery. Consequently, reducing the risk of SCIWORA in the absence of surgical intervention and optimizing spinal cord function recovery remain pivotal challenges.

Methods: Patients treated with posterolateral intertransverse fusion (PITF group), Isobar TTL dynamic internal fixation (TTL group), or Isobar EVO dynamic internal fixation (EVO group) for single-level lumbar degenerative disease (LDD) between March 2012 and September 2020 were included in the study. Cases were selected with complete records and follow-up times ranging from 2 to 5 years, taking into account the effects of postoperative muscle edema and age-related muscle degeneration.
The Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima) stands out as a plant with significant ecological and economic value, excellent nutritional quality and natural resistance to pests and diseases. Recent strides in high-throughput techniques have enabled the continuous accumulation of genomic data on chestnuts, presenting a promising future for genetic research and advancing traits in this species. To facilitate the accessibility and utility of this data, we have curated and analyzed a collection of genomic datasets for eight Castanea species, including functional annotations, 213 RNA-Seq samples, and 330 resequencing samples.
