The increasing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases highlights the urgent demand for small-diameter artificial vascular grafts (SD-AVGs). However, the clinical application of current SD-AVGs is limited by complications such as thrombosis and proliferative stenosis. We first designed and fabricated a triple-layered SD-AVG (TL-SD-AVG) composed of polycarbonate polyurethane and polyethylene terephthalate using electrospinning and mixed weaving techniques.

Rationale And Objectives: β-thalassemia (β-TM) is an inherited hematological disorder characterized by impaired hemoglobin synthesis, leading to chronic anemia and systemic iron overload. While numerous studies have documented widespread iron deposition caused by repeated blood transfusions and disrupted iron metabolism, the impact of iron overload on the brain remains poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate whole-brain iron accumulation in patients with β-TM using quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM).

Background: Calcified lumbar disc herniation (CLDH) is one specific type of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Currently, there are no uniform classification standards for different calcification degrees of herniated lumbar disc tissue. Percutaneous endoscopic interlaminar discectomy (PEID) has been proved to exhibit great efficacy in treating LDH, but whether it can achieve satisfactory results in treating CLDH with different calcification remains unclear.

Unlabelled: Previous studies show osteoporosis causes tibial varus in knee osteoarthritis patients. Our analysis of tibial plateau specimens from osteoarthritic patients reveals that osteoporosis accelerates the deterioration of the subchondral microstructure of the tibial plateau, exacerbating tibial varus.

Introduction: The relationship between osteoporosis (OP) and knee osteoarthritis (OA) has garnered significant clinical interest, particularly regarding the prevalence of tibial varus in patients suffering from both conditions.

Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) exhibits strong resistance to electromagnetic interference and excellent linear strain response, making it highly promising for structural health monitoring (SHM) in pavement. This research investigates the strain transfer characteristics of embedded FBG in pavement structure and materials by using the relevant theoretical models. Results indicate adhesive layer thickness and sheath modulus are the primary factors influencing the strain transfer coefficient.

A practical and efficient protocol for one-pot synthesis of α-ketoamides has been developed through ligand-free copper-mediated using commercially available 2-bromo/chloro-2,2-difluorophenylethanones and primary amines as starting materials. The reaction exhibits moderate to good yields, broad functional group tolerance, and mild reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies indicate a plausible pathway involving copper-mediated oxidative elimination in DMSO to generate a key acyl fluoride intermediate, which subsequently reacts with aniline to afford the corresponding ketoamide.

The multi-feature paradigm, despite its growing use in studies on MMN (mismatch negativity), faces challenges in broader adoption due to doubts about its efficacy compared to the oddball paradigm. More studies are needed to determine whether the multi-feature paradigm is sensitive to capture the MMN under complex auditory conditions, particularly in tonal languages like Mandarin. In the present study, Mandarin syllables were used as stimuli to examine differences in event-related potentials (ERPs) between the two paradigms.

: This study evaluates whether ultrawide-field optical coherence tomography angiography (UWF-OCTA) can guide navigated laser therapy for non-perfused areas (NPAs) in branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). It further explores whether the laser spots can be accurately placed according to plan, considering that the retina is three-dimensional (3D), while UWF-OCTA provides two-dimensional (2D) images. : UWF-OCTA images from three devices-VG200, Xephilio OCT-S1, and Bmizar-guided the treatments.

Herein, we report that acyl fluorides enable the switchable selective acylation of vicinal 1,2--diol motifs in carbohydrates. While DMAP as a catalyst directs equatorial acylation, DBU highly promotes the thermodynamically unfavorable axial O-acylation, reversing conventional preferences. NMR studies and DFT calculations indicate that triple hydrogen bonding governs this unusual regioselectivity.

Unlabelled: Despite treatment advances for metastatic cervical cancer (mCC), the Asia-Pacific region faces significant barriers in treatment accessibility, availability, and healthcare infrastructure. This study explored the treatment landscape and barriers for mCC in the Asia-Pacific. A descriptive, cross-sectional, web-based study evaluating cervical cancer treatment patterns was conducted among medical, radiation, and gynecologic oncologists and gynecologists in the Chinese mainland (n = 80), Australia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Taiwan (n = 20 each).

Metal nanoclusters (MNCs) possessed promising potentials for catalytic applications but were hindered by the intrinsic charge-carrier mobility and the exposure of active sites. To this point, our work developed the uneven charged traps strategy to realize the homogeneous dispersion and immobilization of atomically precise silver nanoclusters (Ag) and obtained an Ag cluster-based oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalyst with enhanced performance. As expected, the uneven charged traps derived by graphitized nitrogen-doped carbon (NDC) extended the effective catalytic active area, tuned the electrical environment, and facilitated the binding between ORR intermediates and the active sites.

Purpose: Waterjet is increasingly used in medicine for cutting and ablation of soft tissues due to its non-thermal damage and tissue-selective separation. However, the tissue-selective separation mechanism for cutting target tissues while protecting blood vessels under waterjet impact remains little known. In this study, the mechanical properties, dynamic responses and tissue-selective separation mechanisms of four typical soft tissues including liver, muscle, and arterial-venous blood vessels under waterjet impact were investigated.

To investigate the regulatory mechanisms underlying milk production traits, transcriptional sequencing (RNA-seq) and metabolomic analysis with liquid chromatography-MS were implemented in blood and serum samples from 25 lactating Holstein cows across multiple lactation stages. We identified 16,147, 15,859, and 16,010 expressed genes (fragments per kilobase million >1) and 160, 332, and 142 differentially expressed genes (DEG) during early, peak, and late lactation, respectively; the DEG were significantly enriched in adipocytokine, PPAR, and cAMP signaling and influenced cholesterol, vitamin B, and fat metabolism; 9 candidate genes were identified by comparing QTLs related to milk production, reproduction, and disease resistance traits. Additionally, 303 metabolites in 22 categories were detected, in which 19, 22, and 32 metabolites displayed differential abundance in the early versus peak, early versus late, and peak versus late comparison groups, respectively.

Lunar mare basalts illuminate the nature of the Moon's mantle, the lunar compositional asymmetry and the early lunar magma ocean (LMO). However, the characteristics of the mantle beneath the vast South Pole-Aitken (SPA) basin on the lunar farside remain a mystery. Here we present the petrology and geochemistry of basalt fragments from Chang'e-6 (CE6), the first returned lunar farside samples from the SPA basin.

To investigate whether preoperative chlorhexidine mouthwash can reduce the risk of postoperative pulmonary complications(PPCs) in elderly patients with tracheal intubation under general anesthesia. 78 elderly patients undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia and endotracheal intubation were randomly divided into the chlorhexidine group (CH group, n = 39) and the normal saline group (NS group, n = 39). Nurses instructed patients to gargle with 15 ml saline or compound chlorhexidine mouthwash the night before surgery, on the morning of surgery, and upon entering the operating room.
