Unlabelled: Previous studies show osteoporosis causes tibial varus in knee osteoarthritis patients. Our analysis of tibial plateau specimens from osteoarthritic patients reveals that osteoporosis accelerates the deterioration of the subchondral microstructure of the tibial plateau, exacerbating tibial varus.

Introduction: The relationship between osteoporosis (OP) and knee osteoarthritis (OA) has garnered significant clinical interest, particularly regarding the prevalence of tibial varus in patients suffering from both conditions.

The American Musculoskeletal Society updated the diagnostic criteria for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in 2011 and 2018. However, the overall incidence of PJI since the introduction of these new standards has not been assessed. In order to fill this knowledge gap, a single-group meta-analysis was conducted using articles obtained from several databases, focusing on the incidence of PJI after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on creating zirconium alginate/poly(-isopropyl acrylamide) hydrogel beads (ZA/PNIPAM) to remove phosphates from water, using a specific method for crosslinking and polymerization.
  • - Research showed that the phosphate removal efficiency was best at a pH of 2, depending on factors like adsorbent dose, initial phosphate concentration, and the presence of other ions, with sulfate having a negative effect compared to chloride and nitrate.
  • - The adsorption process was analyzed using various models, revealing that it mainly involved surface adsorption and internal diffusion, with mechanisms including electrostatic attraction and ligand exchange, while showing good reusability after multiple cycles.
