Methods: Seventy patients with GERD were randomly divided into an acupuncture group (35 cases, 2 cases dropped out) and a medication group (35 cases, 1 case dropped out). The patients in the acupuncture group received acupuncture at bilateral Shenmen (HT 7), Neiguan (PC 6), Burong (ST 19), Tianshu (ST 25), Zusanli (ST 36), Gongsun (SP 4), and Zhongwan (CV 12), with needles retained for 30 min, every other day, three times a week.

The specific viscoelastic mechanical properties of the human Achilles tendon are strongly dependent on the structural characteristics of collagen. Although research on the deformation mechanisms of the Achilles tendon in various animals is extensive, understanding of these mechanisms in the human Achilles tendon remains largely empirical and macroscopic. In this work, the evolution of D-space, orientation, and average length of voids between fibers are investigated during the stretching using SAXS techniques.

Focusing on the syndrome/pattern differentiation to determine treatment, the approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion for adenomyosis are explored by identifying the etiology, location, nature and development of disease. The syndromes/patterns of adenomyosis are differentiated in view of both and meridian theories. The treatment is delivered complying with the menstrual cycle and the basic rule of treatment, "treating the symptoms in the acute stage, while the root causes in the recovery stage".
