Wound healing is a precisely regulated dynamic process in which signaling pathways play a central role. This article provides a comprehensive review of the signaling pathways involved in wound healing, emphasizing their roles in inflammation, vascular regeneration, cell proliferation, and extracellular matrix remodeling. We further discuss the crosstalk between these pathways and their contributions to wound healing dysregulation.

Background: Bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) regulate hepatic progenitor cells (HPCs) differentiation, potentially via the Wnt signaling pathway. While M1-polarized BMDMs (M1-BMDMs) exert anti-fibrotic effects in the liver, Wnt5a is implicated in fibrosis progression. The specific influence of Wnt5a levels within M1-BMDMs on HPCs fate and cirrhosis development remains unclear.

Background: The current study aims to comprehensively evaluate the surgical impact on anal function in pediatric patients with anal fistulas, incorporating anorectal manometry, histopathological examination, and various rating scales.

Methods: The study focuses on infants and toddlers diagnosed with anal fistulas who underwent surgical intervention at Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, between November 2020 and January 2024. The participants were divided into two age cohorts: infants (0-12 months) and toddlers (13-36 months).

Background: Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR) is a chronic dermatological condition characterized by persistent facial erythema and visible telangiectasia. This study aims to compare the efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction associated with pulsed dye laser (PDL), narrow-band intense pulsed light (NB-IPL), and broad-band IPL (BB-IPL) in the treatment of ETR.

Methods: A total of 112 patients diagnosed with ETR between May 2021 and April 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.

Importance: Per preliminary studies, Shengdi Dahuang Decoction (SDD) is potentially effective for acute intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH); however, its effectiveness has not been rigorously assessed in extensive randomised clinical trials.

Design: Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial included patients with acute ICH within 4 hours of symptom onset at five hospitals in Shanghai, China.

Objective: We collated and evaluated evidence from meta-analyses and systematic reviews on tinnitus treatment to establish a reference for clinical decision-making in tinnitus management.

Methods: Major medical databases such as CNKI, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library were searched. Literature on systematic review/meta-analysis of evidence of tinnitus treatment was collected without reference language restrictions.

We performed a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the research trends and emerging topics in this field, aiming to deepen our understanding of PLGC.

Global-Local Transformer Network for Automatic Retinal Pathological Fluid Segmentation in Optical Coherence Tomography Images.

Background And Objective: As a pivotal biomarker, the accurate segmentation of retinal pathological fluid such as intraretinal fluid (IRF), subretinal fluid (SRF), and pigment epithelial detachment (PED), was a critical task for diagnosis and treatment management in various retinopathy. However, segmenting pathological fluids from optical coherence tomography (OCT) images still faced several challenges, including large variations in location, size and shape, low intensity contrast between fluids and peripheral tissues, speckle noise interference, and high similarity between fluid and background. Further, owing to the intrinsic local nature of convolution operations, most automatic retinal fluid segmentation approaches built upon deep convolutional neural network had limited capacity in capturing pathological features with global dependencies, prone to deviations.

Does the impact of economic inequality on maternal and child health inequality exhibit a threshold effect? Evidence from China.

When the economy (economic inequality) develops to a certain level, does the impact of economic inequality on health inequality change? Through threshold regression, this study analyses the impact of city-level economic inequality on the absolute and economic-related inequality in under-5 child mortality rate (U5MR) (2001-2012) and maternal mortality rate (MMR) (2001-2015), along with the threshold values for economic development stages and economic inequality. Findings show: For the relationship between economic inequality and absolute inequality in U5MR, as well as economic-related inequality, there exists an economic development threshold effect. For the relationship between economic inequality and absolute inequality in MMR, an economic inequality threshold effect is illustrated.

The symptom network of oral health conditions in older populations with oral frailty: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Population aging is increasing globally, with oral frailty affecting 24% of the older population. Previous studies have demonstrated the relationship between oral frailty and poor oral health symptoms but the interactions and core symptoms among these oral symptoms remain vague.

Objective: To clarify the relationship between oral frailty and oral symptoms, explore the intrinsic connections between these symptoms, and identify core symptoms to provide more effective management and treatment strategies for oral frailty and related health issues.

Association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration and the risk of colorectal cancer: A cross-sectional study.

Background: The role of vitamin D in the prevention of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been the focus of research, but the results of relevant studies are not entirely consistent. While most studies indicate that vitamin D has a protective effect against CRC, there are also research reports stating that at high serum levels, there is no significant association between vitamin D and CRC, or even an increased risk. Additionally, there are still differences in the recommended serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations among various guidelines or committees.

The molecular pathogenesis of SOX2 in prostate cancer.

SOX2 is one of the members of the SOX transcription factor family, which is believed to be an important transcription factor that plays a role in embryonic development, maintenance of stem cells, cancer progression, and resistance to cancer treatment. There is increasing evidence suggesting that SOX2 is crucial for the initiation, progression, invasion, metastasis, and treatment resistance of prostate cancer, therefore understanding the mechanism of SOX2 in prostate cancer can provide better targets for the treatment of prostate cancer. This article reviews the structural domains, normal physiological functions, and role in prostate cancer progression of SOX2, providing potential targets for prostate cancer treatment.

Background: The Bushen Jiedu Formula (BSJDF) is a traditional and effective chemical prescription of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) administered due to its anti-cancer properties, particularly in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Purpose: This study proposes to explore the therapeutic benefits of BSJDF against metastasis in CRC and unravel its regulatory mechanisms related to the tumor microenvironment.

Study Design/methods: The combination of mass spectrometry and network pharmacology was used to analyze the involvement of BSJDF in anti-tumor progression.
