Background: Gait disorder is one of the clinical manifestations of Parkinson's disease (PD). Investigating the characteristics of gait disorder in patients with PD and the changes in gait before and after taking levodopa is crucial for the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of gait disorders in PD patients.

Methods: In this study, we measured the gait parameters of 20 patients with PD and 17 healthy controls and analyzed the changes of gait parameters of these patients before and after taking levodopa.

The aberrant expression of RNAs in ovarian cancer (OC) progression highlights their potential as clinical biomarkers. However, rapid and accurate quantification of these RNAs in biosamples remains a significant challenge. In this study, we develop a modular isothermal rolling circle amplification (RCA)-activated Cas12a loop-enhanced (MIRACLE) amplification method for circRNA and miRNA quantification without the need of reverse transcription.

Objective: To develop and evaluate a Dual-modality Complementary Feature Attention Network (DCFAN) that integrates spatial and stiffness information from B-mode ultrasound and shear wave elastography (SWE) for improved breast tumor classification and axillary lymph node (ALN) metastasis prediction.

Methods: A total of 387 paired B-mode and SWE images from 218 patients were retrospectively analyzed. The proposed DCFAN incorporates attention mechanisms to effectively fuse structural features from B-mode ultrasound with stiffness features from SWE.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) represents the initial phase of cardiac dysfunction associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). To date, the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying T2DM-induced HFpEF are complex and elusive. Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) is a prolyl-specific serine protease that its inhibition or vaccination has been shown to enhance cardiac repair following myocardial infarction (MI).

Endovascular Therapy Versus Medical Management for Large Ischemic Infarct: 1-Year Outcomes of the ANGEL-ASPECT Trial.

Stroke

September 2025

Department of Neurology, Interventional Neuroradiology (D.S., Y.P., F.G., N.M., D.M., Z.M.), Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, China.

Background: Several trials have shown the benefit and safety of endovascular therapy (EVT) compared with medical management (MM) of patients with a large ischemic core in the 90-day follow-up. However, the 1-year outcome comparison between EVT and MM in Asian patients with a large ischemic core has not been investigated. Our aim was to evaluate the 1-year outcomes of patients in the ANGEL-ASPECT trial (Endovascular Therapy in Acute Anterior Circulation Large Vessel Occlusive Patients with a Large Infarct Core).

School of Information and Communication Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian 116024, China. Electronic address:

Background And Objective: Accurate evaluation of the axillary lymph node (ALN) status in early-stage breast cancer is crucial for prognosis and guiding treatment decisions, while also preventing unnecessary surgeries and postoperative complications. Numerous methods have been proposed for ALN status classification using radiomic images which face the challenge of low diagnostic accuracy. This study aims to explore the potential of multi-modality that integrates clinical parameters and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) to provide complementary information for image features, thereby enhancing the model's ability to predict ALN metastasis.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes. It has a slow and insidious onset, mainly manifested as sensory and motor dysfunction, and increases susceptibility to psychological problems such as anxiety and depression, seriously affecting the quality of life of patients. The current treatment strategies focus on effective metabolic management and lifestyle intervention, but the results are not satisfactory.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia and a significant contributor to stroke occurrence. Although 4-Hydroxychalcone (4HCH) has notable anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, playing critical therapeutic roles in hypertensive nephropathy and cardiac remodeling, its effects on AF are somewhat unclear, thus forming the basis of this study. Herein, AF was induced in mice via continuous infusion of Angiotensin II (Ang II) at a dose of 2000 ng/kg/min for three weeks.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in pure aortic regurgitation (AR) remains challenging because of inadequate anchoring forces. Traditional approaches, which rely solely on virtual annulus oversizing, have demonstrated limited success. We propose a novel anatomical classification system and dual-anchoring theory to optimise the TAVI strategy in patients with pure AR.

Background: Advanced prostate cancer (PCa) displays significant genetic heterogeneity and therapy resistance, yet the role of sensory perception pathways in its progression remains unclear.

Methods: We performed an integrative multi-omics analysis of sensory perception-linked mRNAs and lncRNAs from TCGA and scRNA-seq data. Unsupervised consensus clustering defined three molecular subtypes (CS1-CS3).

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a life-threatening condition characterized by the dilation of the abdominal aorta, leading to a high risk of rupture. Current treatment options are limited, particularly for patients ineligible for surgical interventions. This study explores a novel immunotherapeutic approach using chimeric antigen receptor Treg cells targeting vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) to mitigate AAA progression.

Transition metal-catalysed asymmetric umpolung reactions of electron-deficient π-unsaturated systems.

Chem Commun (Camb)

August 2025

Key Laboratory of Drug-Targeting and Drug Delivery System of the Education Ministry and Sichuan Province, and Sichuan Research Center for Drug Precision Industrial Technology, West China School of Pharmacy, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China.

The umpolung reaction of electrophilic π-unsaturated compounds represents a powerful strategy to reverse inherent polarity, enabling unconventional bond formations. While organic σ-Lewis base catalysts are classically utilised, in this feature article, recent advances in the low valent transition metal-mediated asymmetric umpolung reactions of diverse electron-poor unsaturated systems, usually in a diene form, are reviewed, proceeding through either an oxidative cyclometallation or a π-Lewis base activation mechanism. The contents are organised according to transition metal categories, with emphasis on catalytic mechanisms, regio- and stereoselectivity control, and limitations.

FSS in CTE triggers neuronal apoptosis through Piezo1-induced Ca homeostasis disruption.

Central Hospital of Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, 116021, China; Liaoning Key Lab of Integrated Circuit and Biomedical Electronic System, Faculty of Medicine, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, 116024, China. Electronic address:

The altered cerebrospinal fluid dynamics induced by strenuous competitive sports result in repeated exposure of neurons to abnormal fluid shear stress (FSS). Although the stress intensity did not result in diffuse axonal injury, prolonged stimulation still induced chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), characterized by neuronal dysfunction and apoptosis. However, the mechanism underlying the effects of elevated FSS in axon-intact cells remains unclear.

γ-Glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) is overexpressed in a variety of diseases, making it an important diagnostic criterion for diseases. Herein, a new fluorescence probe based on naphthalimide (Glu-MDA) was developed and employed for the rapid detection of GGT in tumor cells or samples. Alkynylated naphthalimide is the fluorescent core for excellent fluorescence response.
