Human-machine interface (HMI) electrodes enable interactions between humans and bioelectronic devices by facilitating electrical stimulation and recording neural activity. However, reconciling the soft, hydrated nature of living human tissues with the rigid, dry properties of synthetic electronic systems is inherently challenging. Overcoming these significant differences, which is critical for developing compatible, effective, and stable interfaces, has become a key research area in materials science and technology.

Vaccine immunotherapy is paving the way for an effective long-term immune response and targeted destruction of tumor cells and shows promise as a leading strategy in tumor treatment. Nanoparticles are crucial in combining vaccine immunotherapy and photothermal therapy (PTT), generating local tumor thermal ablation, and triggering a powerful antitumor immune response that inhibits tumor recurrence. In this study, we designed a nanovaccine that combined PTT and immunotherapy for tumors using two-dimensional black phosphorus (BP) as a nanoplatform that was modified with maleimide poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-MAL) and coated with tumor antigen proteins (BP-PEG-MAL@antigen).

Cell behavior is intricately intertwined with the in vivo microenvironment and endogenous pathways. The ability to guide cellular behavior toward specific goals can be achieved by external stimuli, notably electricity, light, ultrasound, and magnetism, simultaneously harnessed through biomaterial-mediated responses. These external triggers become focal points within the body due to interactions with biomaterials, facilitating a range of cellular pathways: electrical signal transmission, biochemical cues, drug release, cell loading, and modulation of mechanical stress.

Background: In the progestin-primed ovarian stimulation protocol, the oral administration of medroxyprogesterone acetate has been observed to effectively inhibit the LH surge during ovarian stimulation in patients experiencing infertility. Nevertheless, the use of utilizing medroxyprogesterone acetate during ovarian stimulation can result in more pronounced pituitary suppression, potentially necessitating increased doses of gonadotropins and extended treatment durations. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the optimal dose of medroxyprogesterone acetate, aiming to use relatively lower concentrations of medroxyprogesterone acetate to effectively and safely suppress early LH surges.
