The awakening of dormant disseminated cancer cells appears to be responsible for the clinical relapses of patients whose primary tumors have been successfully cured months and even years earlier. In the present study, we demonstrate that dormant breast cancer cells lodged in the lungs reside in a highly mesenchymal, nonproliferative phenotypic state. The awakening of these cells is not triggered by a cancer cell-autonomous process.

Recently, CDK2 has been identified as a mediator of resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in the context of high levels of cyclin E expression. Discovery of highly selective CDK2 inhibitors may minimize off-target effects, reduce toxicity observed with first generation CDK2 inhibitors, and allow precise targeting of aberrant cell cycle progression and resistance mechanisms mediated by high cyclin E/CDK2 activity.

However, clinical evidence of the effects of TXL treatment on coronary plaque vulnerability is unavailable. In response, we developed this study to investigate the hypothesis that on the basis of statin therapy, treatment with TXL capsule may stabilize coronary lesions in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Our findings reveal that Aβ-associated human microglia upregulate Glypican 4 (GPC4), a GPI-anchored heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG). Glial GPC4 expression exacerbates motor deficits and reduces lifespan in a amyloidosis model, implicating GPC4 in a toxic neurodegenerative program.

Northwestern Yunnan has become a hotspot for the study of dendrochronology due to its sensitivity to climate change and the relative integrity of vegetation preservation. In this paper, we take three dominant conifers-, and -as the research objects and analyze their tree-ring width chronologies in order to reveal the main climate factors affecting tree growth in northwestern Yunnan and to evaluate species-specific variation in climate response.

In the context of the ongoing global health threat posed by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the application scope of PROTAC technology has been gradually extended to the field of antiviral research. Unlike traditional small molecule inhibitors, PROTAC employs an "event-driven" mechanism to achieve ubiquitination-mediated degradation of target proteins.

Life-threatening cardiovascular events occur despite control of the traditional risk factors, emphasizing the underlying role of non-traditional risk factors. CKD, causing mineral imbalance and the accumulation of uremic toxins due to a compromised ability to excrete waste products, imposes extra pressure on the cardiovascular system.

This transformation utilizes readily available sulfinates as versatile sulfinyl sources, allowing facile installation of structurally diverse sulfoxide motifs at the C7 position. In addition to aryl/alkyl sulfinates, trifluoromethyl sulfinate is also viable.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have been hindered by the low active material utilization, sluggish kinetics and Li anode corrosion caused by the dissolution of Li polysulfides (LiPSs) intermediates. To solve these problems simultaneously, Fe-doped HTiO anchored on the reduced graphene oxide (rGO/HTiO-Fe) is designed via dopant selection and doping content optimization as a novel separator modifier. Tunable Fe-doping induces the controllable generation of oxygen vacancies (OVs), endowing rGO/HTiO-Fe with suitable Lewis acid character, which causes a sieving effect via the differentiated adsorption between OVs and various LiPSs.

Grassland degradation impacts and restoration strategies have been extensively studied in existing literature. Nevertheless, current diagnostic approaches for assessing degradation conditions predominantly rely on either empirical or mechanistic approaches, leading to inconsistent findings across studies. Here, we proposed a geo-coding and abrupt analysis based (GAAB) method to identify the degradation conditions of grasslands.

This study investigated whether combining RT with vitamins C and E supplementation yields additive benefits in sarcopenia patients.
Methods: Sixty older women with sarcopenia (60-75 years) were randomized to an antioxidant supplementation group (AS; 1000 mg/d vitamin C and 335 mg/d vitamin E) or a placebo group (PLA) following the same elastic-band RT program.
Background: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) significantly impacts women's quality of life, with laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) considered the gold standard for treatment. However, LSC carries risks of complications, prompting exploration of alternatives. This study compared the efficacy of Laparoscopic Lateral Suspension (LLS) combined with uterosacral ligament folding and shortening (LLS-ULFS) versus LSC for POP treatment.

Methods: Sixteen 8-week-old specific pathogen free (SPF) healthy Sprague Dawley (SD) pregnant rats were randomly divided into the testosterone-treated group (TG, female offspring termed PNA group) or the olive oil control group (OOG, female offspring termed VEH group). The female offspring rats of two groups were raised to 21 days (PND21) and weaned.
Dietary protein intake is closely related to bone health. However, it remains unclear how different dietary protein sources contribute to bone mass and how the gut microbiota affects these processes. This study investigated the relationships of dietary animal and plant protein intake with bone mineral density (BMD) and the mediating role of gut microbes in these associations.
