Postmenopausal women's estrogen decline is a key factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Phytoestrogen may prevent CVD by protecting vascular endothelium and inhibiting vascular smooth muscle proliferation via receptor's genomic or nongenomic pathways, yet effective estrogen receptor α (ERα)-targeting phytoestrogens need further exploration. Molecular docking and thermal shift assay were used to verify compound binding to ERα.

Protein intake-induced feeding inhibition (PIFI) plays a critical role in the maintenance of nutrition homeostasis. Here, we present an optogenetic pre-feeding protocol for studying the neural mechanisms underlying PIFI in Drosophila.

Spermiogenesis is the committed step of sperm production, during which spermatid cells undergo dramatic morphological transformations and transcriptional silencing. Post-translational modifications (PTMs), including phosphorylation, provide a level of protein function flexibility and play important roles in spermiogenesis. Dynamic protein phosphorylation profiles of spermatids are characterized across four different developing steps, and identified phosphorylation regulation of key proteins in spermiogenesis.

Purpose: To explore the oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R)-induced BBB dysfunction and evaluate the therapeutic effects of Guanxinning injection (GXNI), a Danshen-Chuanxiong herbal combination, targeting neuroinflammatory pathways.
Methods: A 3D-BBB organoid composed of human brain microvascular endothelial cells, human astrocytes, and primary human brain microvascular pericytes was constructed, and conditions for OGD/R that simulate ischemic stroke were established.
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Medication-Psychological-Nursing-Family-Support (MPNFS) theory-based nursing interventions in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and their impact on cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and pulmonary function.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data from 92 lung cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at our institution between October 2022 and December 2024. Patients were categorized into a control group (n=46, receiving conventional nursing) and an MPNFS group (n=46, receiving MPNFS-guided nursing plus conventional care).

Background: Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is a degenerative condition marked by aortic valve thickening and calcification, leading to stenosis or regurgitation, with rising prevalence in developed countries.
Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological trends and disease burden of CAVD in the global working-age population (defined in this study as the age group of 15 to 64 years) from 1992 to 2021. It further examined differences by Sociodemographic Index (SDI) regions and gender, providing insights for public health strategies.

The Plastid-encoded RNA polymerase (PEP) complex is a multi-subunit machinery essential for chloroplast biogenesis and photosynthetic gene transcription. Its structural integrity and enzymatic activity rely critically on a suite of PEP-associated proteins (PAPs). Mutations in most PAP-encoding genes typically lead to severe albinism and developmental arrest in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Yindan Xinnaotong Soft Capsule (YD), a traditional Chinese patent medicine, is clinically utilized for cardio-cerebrovascular diseases, yet its potential roles in post-stroke recovery remains unclear.
Purpose: To elucidate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of YD on ischemic post-stroke recovery.
The relationship between brain structure and function, known as structural-functional coupling (SFC), is highly dynamic. However, the temporal variability of this relationship, referring to the fluctuating extent to which functional profiles interact with anatomy over time, remains poorly elucidated. Here, we propose a framework to quantify SFC temporal variability and determine its neurocognitive map, genetic architecture, and neurochemical basis in 1206 healthy human participants.

The persistent surge in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has propelled the search for innovative strategies in antimicrobial use. Genome-scale metabolic modelling (GSMM) has emerged as a transformative tool in this quest, offering a comprehensive understanding of host and microbial metabolism and their interactions with antimicrobial agents. This review emphasises current advancements in the application of GSMM to antimicrobial pharmacology, highlighting its role in deciphering complex microbial and host responses to drug exposure, identifying novel therapeutic targets and optimising therapeutic options.

Hence, the development of bioactive products that can regulate lipid metabolism and prevent the onset and progression of atherosclerosis is urgently needed.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effect of Mori fructus-derived extracellular vesicle-like nanoparticles (MFEVLPs) on lipid abnormality and atherosclerosis progression.
Bis-allylic hydrogen atoms of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in biological membranes are major initiation sites of ferroptosis. However, the location of PUFAs in the hydrophobic interior of the lipid bilayer makes it challenging for most ferroptosis-inducing drugs to interact with the PUFAs to promote lipid peroxidation (LPO), potentially limiting the occurrence of ferroptosis. Herein, we propose a new generalized method named physical-chemical cascade ferroptosis (PCCF) for triggering ferroptosis by disrupting the integrity of the cell membrane to expose bis-allylic hydrogen atoms that react with nanozyme MnFI under nanosecond pulsed electric field (nsPEF) assistance.

This study investigated post-inflection-point growth patterns in two genetically distinct pig breeds-the lean-type Yorkshire pig (YP) and the fatty-type Qingyu pig (QYP)-with the aim of elucidating breed-specific characteristics that influence pork quality and yield. Comprehensive evaluations of carcass traits, meat quality attributes, nutritional composition, and gene expression profiles were conducted.

However, the mechanisms by which exosomes facilitate liver regeneration following portal vein ligation (PVL) remain unclear. Our previous research highlighted the critical role of the Notch signaling pathway in liver regeneration after PVL.

Hearing loss (HL) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been widely reported, though the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we demonstrate significant HL in an imiquimod-induced mouse model of SLE, accompanied by blood-labyrinth barrier (BLB) damage in the stria vascularis (SV). We found that cytotoxic CD8 T lymphocytes and natural killer cells mediate BLB disruption, with granzyme b (Gzmb) acting as the primary factor inducing cell death of the cochlear capillary endothelial cells.

Objective: To define sloping of the retina, a novel stereoscopic feature in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), and to evaluate its prevalence and associated risk factors in an African ancestry population.
Methods And Analysis: Digital stereo disc images were graded for sloping by trained non-physician graders. We defined a sloping retina as one that slanted downward towards the disc margin instead of existing on the same plane as the disc margin.

Developing a preamplification-free and sensitive clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-based method is significant but still extremely challenging for microRNA (miRNA) detection. Here we present a combination of a CRISPR/Cas13a-based reaction with a lateral flow biosensor, which enables the quantitative and colorimetric readout of preamplification-free miRNA detection at room temperature. In this work, the reaction principle and the structure of the lateral flow strip are well-designed to achieve surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)/colorimetric dual-signal "turn-on" response of target miRNA.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a significant metabolic disorder characterized by the elevated glucose level first detected during pregnancy, influencing approximately 14 % of pregnancies globally. Given the rising prevalence of environmental toxicants and their potential impact on maternal health, it is imperative to explore the relationship between environmental exposures and GDM. This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) in this context, demonstrating that exposure to environmental toxicants may influence GDM risk through some pathways.
