Refractory cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a severe complication following umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT). Antiviral agents, the standard first-line therapy, are limited by toxicity and resistance without robust T-cell immunity. We evaluated third-party donor (TPD)-derived CMV-specific T cells (CMVSTs) as a treatment option.

Objective: The cachexia index (CXI) demonstrates potential as both a diagnostic tool for cachexia and a prognostic tool for survival in cancer. However, CXI's predictive value has not been verified in cervical cancer. The purpose of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of the CXI in patients with cervical cancer treated with radiotherapy.

Iron-cerium co-doped carbon dots (Fe,Ce-CDs) were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method using tartaric acid and L-tryptophan as ligands. Fe,Ce-CDs shows excellent peroxidase-like (POD) activity and nitrite (NO) can promote the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to its blue oxidation product (oxTMB) due to the formation of ∙NO free radical. NO further react with oxTMB to form a yellow color via diazotization resulting in the absorbance Change at 450 nm.

Carbonaceous asteroids are the source of the most primitive meteorites and represent leftover planetesimals that formed from ice and dust in the outer Solar System and may have delivered volatiles to the terrestrial planets. Understanding the aqueous activity of asteroids is key to deciphering their thermal, chemical and orbital evolution, with implications for the origin of water on the terrestrial planets. Analyses of the objects, in particular pristine samples returned from asteroid Ryugu, have provided detailed information on fluid-rock interactions within a few million years after parent-body formation.

The human stomach features distinct, regionalized functionalities along the anterior-posterior axis. Historically, studies on stomach patterning have used animal models to identify the underlying principles. Recently, human pluripotent stem (hPS)-cell-based gastric organoids for modelling domain-specific development of the fundic and antral epithelium are emerging.

The tracked vehicle (TV) primarily operates on poor road surfaces, which means the vibration excitation of the road surface significantly impacts the driver's sighting efficiency and driving comfort. This is the cause of reduced vehicle combat efficiency. To address this, based on the dynamic interaction model between the TV, Seat, and Driver established in Matlab/Simulink software, all the dynamic parameters of the suspension system of the TV and seat are then simulated under different operation conditions of the TV.

Resistance to platinum-based drugs and PARP inhibitors (PARPi) is the leading cause of treatment failure in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). This study aimed to identify resistance mechanisms shared by both. Using bioinformatic analyses, EOC tissues, primary tumor cells and organoids, and chemoresistant cell lines, we identified lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (LEF1) as a candidate, whose expression was increased in both platinum-resistant and PARPi-resistant tumors.

Neuroregeneration and remyelination rarely occur in the adult mammalian brain and spinal cord following central nervous system (CNS) injury. The glial scar has been proposed as a major contributor to this failure in the regenerative process. However, its underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms remain unclear.

Essential tremor (ET) is a common neurological disease that is characterized by 4-12 Hz kinetic tremors of the upper limbs and high genetic heterogeneity. Although numerous candidate genes and loci have been reported, the etiology of ET remains unclear. A novel ET-related gene was initially identified in a five-generation family via whole-exome sequencing, and other variants were identified in 772 familial ET probands and 640 sporadic individuals via whole-genome sequencing.

The abnormal expansion of GGGGCC (G4C2) repeats in the noncoding region of the C9orf72 gene is a major genetic cause of two devastating neurodegenerative disorders, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). These G4C2 repeats are known to form G-quadruplex (G4) structures, which are hypothesized to contribute to disease pathogenesis. Here, we demonstrated that four DNA G4C2 repeats can fold into two structurally distinct G4 conformations: a parallel and an antiparallel topology.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a malignant liver tumor with insidious onset, limited treatments, and poor prognosis. Recent studies show celecoxib exerts marked cytotoxic effects on cholangiocarcinoma cell lines, suggesting its potential as an iCCA therapy. However, the potential molecular and cellular mechanisms that link celecoxib treatment to its toxicological outcomes remain unclear.

Traditional phenolic resin adhesives involve the use of petrochemical-based phenol, raising environmental and health concerns. In this study, lignin was demethylated to substitute for phenol and prepare a high-lignin-content adhesive with perfect shear strength performance. The hydroxyl content of demethylated lignin can reach up to 6.

α-Amylase is a high-value enzyme widely applied in food, feed, textile, and bioenergy industries, yet achieving stable high-level production in Aspergillus niger remains difficult due to nonlinear fermentation dynamics and limited real-time control. To this end, an AI-driven fermentation optimization framework was established by combining multivariate machine learning, Raman spectroscopy-based glucose monitoring, and time-series transcriptomics. Twelve algorithms were benchmarked, with Random Forest showing the best predictive power, while SHAP interpretation highlighted glucose as the dominant regulatory factor.

This study evaluates ammonia gas recovery from high-strength anaerobic digestate using a bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BPED) and membrane contactor (MC). Ammonia is a promising carbon-neutral energy carrier, while digestates present both environmental challenges and opportunities for ammonia recovery. The BPED was tested at 2,000---10,000 mg-N/L under varying voltages and flow rates, achieving up to 87.

Glycosylation, a pivotal post-translational modification, critically influences colorectal cancer (CRC) progression via dysregulated N- and O-linked pathways, characterized by oligomannose, fucosylation, hypersialylation, truncated O-glycans (Tn, sialyl-Tn), branched N-glycans, and Lewis antigens. These alterations promote tumor aggressiveness, immune evasion, and metastasis through glycoprotein remodeling (e.g.

Background: CVD and cancer are the leading causes of mortality globally. Accumulating evidence suggests that cancer patients have a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Emerging evidence suggests a bidirectional link between these diseases, possibly mediated by hormonal changes, but further research needs to be performed to explore the specific role of hormone level changes in both diseases.

Eutrophication in semi-enclosed coastal systems remains a persistent concern due to restricted water circulation and continuous nutrient inputs. To better characterize nutrient-driven water quality degradation, we applied a threshold-based analysis to seasonal monitoring data collected from Masan Bay, South Korea, between 2010 and 2015. Eutrophication status was assessed using a composite Eutrophication Index (EI) integrating chemical oxygen demand (COD), dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), and dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP).

The increasing production of lithium ion batteries (LIBs) necessitates the development of green and sustainable technologies for their recycling. Unfortunately, most of the recycling technologies used are always associated with high energy and chemical reagents consumption, posing a great risk to the environment. Herein, we propose a photovoltaic driven carrier-facilitated electrodialytic membrane process for low carbon recovery of spent ternary LIBs.

The anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox) process has attracted considerable interest for its advantages in low energy requirements, reduced sludge output, and eliminating the need for external carbon sources. However, its application is constrained by the long generation time, slow growth, and challenges in enriching anammox bacteria. Studies indicate that carbon material addition significantly accelerates anammox bacteria proliferation, enhances nitrogen removal efficiency, and improves anammox microbial activity.
