Accurate strain monitoring in environments with coexisting mechanical deformation and temperature fluctuations─such as solid rocket propellants, battery enclosures, and human ligaments─remains a longstanding challenge for flexible electronics. Conventional strain sensors suffer from significant thermal drift due to the intrinsic temperature dependence of their sensing materials, limiting their reliability in wireless and implantable applications. Here, we report an intrinsically temperature-insensitive, highly sensitive, wireless flexible strain sensor based on near-field communication technology.

Background: Over 20 % of adults with insomnia disorder also experience chronic pain, termed insomnia disorder comorbid with chronic pain (ICCP), increasing risks for physical and mental diseases. Current treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia show inconsistent pain relief, and non-opioid analgesics may exacerbate insomnia, underscoring the need for alternative approaches. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) and acupuncture, guided by traditional Chinese medicine, may offer transdiagnostic benefits for ICCP, but a comprehensive review is lacking.

Crystalline coordination polymers (CCPs) have emerged as promising platforms for photothermal conversion due to their structural tunability. However, the development of high-performance CCPs is often limited by the high cost of photoactive ligands. In this study, we report a low-cost, scalable approach to synthesize three CCPs─-, -, and -─via a solvothermal method using the inexpensive industrial precursor tetrafluoroterephthalonitrile, which is converted in situ into a tetraoxolene ligand.

Lipid oxidation significantly deteriorates the quality of Chinese sausage during storage and is a key factor in the formation of benzo[a]pyrene (B(a)P), a carcinogen. To mitigate this, we developed a sustained-release nanomaterial (GA/Res-L) by encapsulating lipophilic resveratrol (Res) and hydrophilic gallic acid (GA) in liposomes. GA/Res-L effectively suppressed lipid hydroperoxides (LOOH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) formation, delaying browning and maintaining color.

The role of CD8 T cells in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) remains unclear. Similarly, the posttranscriptional regulation of the highly heterogenic CD8 T cell populations and their effector function in IBD also remains poorly understood. Here, we find that and ) regulate T cell fate, and their expression is higher near damaged colon tissue in patients with IBD compared to controls.

The electrode/electrolyte interfacial structure is a seminal component that governs the activity of electrocatalytic water splitting, providing alternative approaches to electrocatalyst design. Herein, we demonstrate that a dense interface constituting of zwitterionic betaine could selectively accelerate the alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER) by 2 orders of magnitude in current. The hygroscopic betaine molecules not only bind water molecules strongly but also endow the underhydrated characteristics of the hydroxide anions that increase their activity coefficient.

Background: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is a commonly encountered complex heterogeneous syndrome in critically ill patients with sepsis. Under the interaction of genotype and pathogenic factors, SA-AKI can lead to various clinical phenotypes and subphenotypes, and this heterogeneity complicates the assessment of the efficacy of treatment measures for sepsis in clinical trials. Early identification of SA-AKI high-risk patients with specific subphenotypes and timely implementation of supportive treatments may improve adverse outcomes for these patients.

Randomized double-blind trials have shown that probiotic mixtures significantly increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease mortality in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Meta-analysis with prospective cohort studies further confirms that elevated HDL is a protective factor for ESRD outcomes. In severe renal injury models, including 5/6 nephrectomy and apolipoprotein E-deficient ( ) mice, probiotics restored cardiac function, mirroring the cardioprotective effects seen in humans.

5-Methylcytosine (m5C), an important RNA modification, has been extensively studied in colorectal cancer (CRC). In recent years, with advances in high-throughput sequencing technology and RNA modification detection tools, the role of m5C modification in tumorigenesis and development has been gradually elucidated and regulated by "writers," "erasers," and "readers," m5C modification affects many biological processes and cancer progression, including cell proliferation, autophagy, invasion, and apoptosis. In CRC, m5C modification affects cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, drug resistance, and immunotherapy resistance by regulating RNA stability, metabolic reprogramming, signalling pathway activation, and immune escape.

Monolayer MoS is attractive for future photonics and optoelectronics for its direct-gap excitons with ultrahigh binding energies. However, the atomically thin structure is prone to nonradiative defects, challenging to scale for large-area production, and inherently limited in optical cross-section, all hindering technological integration. Stacking monolayers to increase the optical cross-section results in multilayers with diminished photoluminescence activity.

This article develops a model-based reinforcement learning (RL) approach to the closed-loop control of nonlinear dynamical systems with a partial nonlinear observation model. We propose an "information-state"-based approach to rigorously transform the partially observed problem into a fully observed problem where the information state consists of the past several observations and control inputs. We further show the equivalence of the transformed and the initial partially observed optimal control problems and provide the conditions to solve for the deterministic optimal solution.
