World J Clin Oncol

June 2025

School of Physics and Electronic Information, Yan'an University, Yan'an 716000, Shaanxi Province, China.

Gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal, gastric, colorectal, liver, gallbladder, cholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancers, pose a significant global health challenge due to their high mortality rates and poor prognosis, particularly when diagnosed at advanced stages. These malignancies, characterized by diverse clinical presentations and etiologies, require innovative approaches for improved management. Bayesian networks (BN) have emerged as a powerful tool in this field, offering the ability to manage uncertainty, integrate heterogeneous data sources, and support clinical decision-making.

Aging is an inevitable physiological process that occurs in living organisms and has significant implications for health and disease. As the human lifespan extends, the functionality of organs gradually diminishes, leading to the emergence of various aging-related symptoms. While it is not feasible to completely halt the aging process, investigating key molecules involved in aging can help devise valid strategies to delay its progression.

The epidemiological trends of inflammatory bowel disease among women of reproductive age: a global analysis from 1990 to 2021.

Immunol Res

June 2025

State Key Laboratory of Holistic Integrative Management of Gastrointestinal Cancers and National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, China.

This study aimed to evaluate the global burden of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) among women of reproductive age (15-49 years) from 1990 to 2021, analyze its association with socio-demographic index (SDI), and identify age-period-cohort (APC) effects to inform region-specific public health strategies. Using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 study, we assessed age-standardized incidence (ASIR), prevalence (ASPR), mortality (ASMR), and disability-adjusted life years (ASDR) across 204 countries. Statistical analyses included Pearson correlation to evaluate SDI associations, decomposition analysis to quantify burden drivers, and APC modeling to disentangle age, period, and cohort effects.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the geographic disparities in myopia and pre-myopia prevalence among elementary school students across three distinct regions of Shaanxi Province (southern Hanzhong, Guanzhong, and northern Yulin) to inform region-specific myopia control strategies.

Methods: From March to May 2024, we employed multistage cluster sampling to recruit 8,207 eligible students (2,724 southern Shaanxi, 2,761 Guanzhong, 2,722 northern Shaanxi) from 12 randomly selected primary schools. Comprehensive ophthalmic examinations including uncorrected visual acuity and non-cycloplegic autorefraction were conducted.

Heterogeneous change detection refers to using image data from different sensors or modalities to detect change information in the same region by comparing images of the same region at different time periods. In recent years, methods based on deep learning and domain adaptation have become mainstream, which can effectively improve the accuracy and robustness of heterogeneous image change detection through feature alignment and multimodal data fusion. However, a lack of credible labels has stopped most current learning-based heterogeneous change detection methods from being put into application.

Isolation and Identification of YJ-2 from the Rhizosphere Soil of to Explore Its Potential as a Biocontrol Agent Against Plant Fungal Diseases.

Microorganisms

May 2025

Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Research and Utilization of Resource Plants on the Loess Plateau, College of Life Sciences, Yan'an University, Yan'an 716000, China.

Plant fungal diseases remain a major threat to global agricultural production, necessitating eco-friendly and sustainable strategies. Conventional chemical fungicides often lead to the development of resistant pathogen strains and cause environmental contamination. Therefore, the development of biocontrol agents is particularly important.

Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disorder characterized by decreased bone mass and deteriorated microarchitecture, leading to an increased risk of fractures. Recent studies have revealed that its pathogenesis involves complex biological processes beyond bone remodeling, including oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, cellular senescence, osteoimmunology, gut microbiota alterations, and epigenetic modifications. Oxidative stress disrupts bone homeostasis by promoting excessive free radical production and osteoclast activity.

Insects

June 2025

Key Laboratory of Applied Ecology on the Loess Plateau of Shaanxi Higher Education Institutions, College of Life Sciences, Yan'an University, Yan'an 716000, China.

This study takes the Jinfoping Small Watershed in the Loess Hilly Region as the research area. Through field investigation and laboratory analysis, combined with methods such as spatial autocorrelation analysis, the ordinary least squares method (OLS), and the geographically weighted regression model (GWR), it deeply explores the spatial distribution characteristics and driving factors of Formicidae in the study area. The research results are as follows: (1) Spatial autocorrelation analysis indicates that the distribution of Formicidae is significantly regulated by spatial dependence and has significant spatial autocorrelation (global Moran's I = 0.

The study of seasonal-scale climate-vegetation coupling mechanisms is important for coordinating desertification control and climate adaptation. Taking the Mu Us Sandy Land (MUSL) as a case study, we gathered meteorological data from 1959 to 2019 (including maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and precipitation) for seasonal analysis. We conducted M-K significance and mutation analysis, Morlet wavelet periodicity analysis and correlation analysis and investigated the effects of various seasonal and annual climate factors on NDVI using NDVI values collected from 1999 to 2019.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common type of cancer among women worldwide. A large number of studies have found that the high expression or dysregulation of cyclin-dependent protein kinases (CDKs) is closely associated with breast cancer. For example, the CDK4/6-Rb axis is involved in the G1/S phase transition of the cell cycle and plays an important role in BC; CDK1 and its associated cyclin are commonly involved in mitotic progression, and increased expression of CDK1-associated cyclin has been observed in BC; loss of CDK12 significantly ameliorates triple-negative breast cancer.
