Background: Myocardial Injury (MI) is a condition in which there is an adverse reaction to the function of the heart, which can seriously damage health in some severe cases, producing symptoms such as shock and sudden death. The causes of MI are varied, as are the methods of recovery. To pursue a faster therapeutic effect, western drugs with antiviral and antiplatelet similar effects are usually adopted in clinical practice, but such drugs mostly have side effects including allergic reaction, liver function damage, drug dependence and so on.

Introduction: This study aims to elucidate the role of Phosphoribosyl Transferase Domain Containing 1 (PRTFDC1) in Lung Adenocarcinoma (LUAD) through bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation, exploring its potential as a biomarker for prognosis and treatment response.

Methods: We analyzed PRTFDC1 gene expression patterns in 539 LUAD and 59 normal lung tissue samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Using bioinformatics tools, we examined the correlation between PRTFDC1 expression and clinical characteristics, immune infiltration, Tumor Mutation Burden (TMB), and drug responsiveness.

Background: Fuzheng Jiedu granules (FZJD) is widely used for COVID-19 in China, with early studies indicating reduced mortality in severe cases. However, with emerging variants and shifted treatment focus on preventing severity and relieving symptoms, high-level clinical evidence, especially for high-risk patients, remains lacking.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial (ChiCTR2200058181 ) was performed to assess FZJD's efficacy and safety in high-risk adults with non-severe COVID-19.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is characterized by steatosis, inflammation, and hepatocyte damage. A Western-style diet characterized by excessive n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid (n-6 PUFA) intake, which is metabolized to pro-inflammatory arachidonic acids (AAs), might contribute to the exacerbation of NASH. Investigating the interactive effects of choline deficiency and n-6 PUFA supplementation on NASH progression, we aimed to elucidate how AA metabolites, such as leukotrienes, prostaglandins, and the CYP2J3/epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EET) pathway influence disease pathogenesis.

We studied the potential protective effects of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25 VD3) supplementation on liver damage induced by a choline-deficient (CD) diet in rats, where impaired liver function leads to decreased 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels, the precursor for the active 1,25 VD3. The CD diet reduced serum 25 VD3 levels and increased liver enzymes, indicative of liver damage. Conversely, 1,25 VD3 supplementation alleviated liver damage, reducing liver enzymes and improving histopathological features characteristic of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Research on a Burn Severity Detection Method Based on Hyperspectral Imaging.

Sensors (Basel)

February 2025

Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun 130033, China.

The accurate detection of burn wounds is a key research direction in the field of burn medicine, as diagnostic results directly influence the risk of wound infection and the formation of hypertrophic scars. Currently, burn diagnosis is primarily dependent on the clinical judgment of physicians, but its accuracy is typically only between 65% and 70%. Therefore, a non-invasive, efficient method for burn severity assessment is urgently needed.

Progress in gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy.

Front Endocrinol (Lausanne)

November 2024

Department of Thyroid Surgery, The Second Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, China.

Gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy obviates the necessity for carbon dioxide insufflation to establish a surgical workspace, thus mitigating the potential complications associated with this practice. This technique presents several benefits, such as the maintenance of neck functionality, minimal scarring, and enhanced visibility of the surgical field, which contribute to its extensive adoption in clinical settings. The objective of this study is to synthesize the current methodologies of gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy and to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages inherent to each technique.

Background And Objective: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have shown remarkable efficacy against various cancers in clinical practice. However, ICIs can cause immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated pancreatic injury, often leading to drug withdrawal, and then patients must go to specialized treatment. The patients, their primary tumors are sensitive to ICIs therapy, may experience treatment delays due to such adverse reactions.

Purpose: Malignant ascites (MA) often occurs in recurrent abdominal malignant tumors, and the large amount of ascites associated with cancerous peritonitis not only leads to severe abdominal distension and breathing difficulties, but also reduces the patient's quality of life and ability to resist diseases, which usually makes it difficult to carry out anti-cancer treatment. The exploration of MA treatment methods is also a key link in MA treatment. This article is going to review the treatment of MA, to provide details for further research on the treatment of MA, and to provide some guidance for the clinical treatment of MA.
