Communication between cellular organelles is essential for mounting effective innate immune responses. The transport of organelles to pathogen penetration sites and their assembly around the host membrane, which delineates the plant-pathogen interface, are well-documented. However, whether organelles associate with these specialized interfaces, and the extent to which this process contributes to immunity, remain unknown.

In recent years, hybrid brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have gained significant attention due to their demonstrated advantages in increasing the number of targets and enhancing robustness of the systems. However, Existing studies usually construct BCI systems using intense auditory stimulation and strong central visual stimulation, which lead to poor user experience and indicate a need for improving system comfort. Studies have proved that the use of peripheral visual stimulation and lower intensity of auditory stimulation can effectively boost the user's comfort.

Protein methylation is a fundamental post-translational modification (PTM) that plays critical roles in gene regulation, protein interactions, and cellular signaling pathways. However, traditional experimental approaches for identifying methylation sites are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and limited in throughput. Therefore, there is an urgent need for computational methods that efficiently and accurately predict methylation sites.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtractylodes macrocephalae Rhizoma (AMR), a traditional Chinese medicine, is extensively utilized in clinical practice for its pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and gastrointestinal regulatory effects. Nonetheless, the intricate nature of traditional Chinese medicine extracts has resulted in few studies into the effects of compositional variations in Atractylodes macrocephalae Rhizoma extracts (AMRE) from diverse sources on gastrointestinal metabolic processes. This study developed an integrated in vitro and in vivo compound analysis strategy utilizing Ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography Quadrupole-Orbitrap tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS/MS) and the Simulator of Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem (SHIME) to examine the metabolic alterations caused by variations in the chemical constituents of AMRE from diverse sources.

Herein, one Co-N-based MOF is reported, featuring strong chelation interaction of metal/linker and strong interlayer π…π stacking, with to own extraordinary stability for alkaline ORR with almost unity of HO selectivity. It can robustly drive the ORR at 200 mA cm for 130 h, and produce HO with mass activity (7540 A·g ) and TOF value (40.

Background: Doxorubicin (DOX) is a powerful chemotherapeutic drug with limited clinical effectiveness due to the risk of cardiotoxicity and glycometabolic disorders at high dosages. Epalrestat (EPS), a potent AKR1B1 inhibitor, has been extensively documented for its remarkable efficacy in treating glycometabolic disorders. We aimed to investigate the protective effects of EPS against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

Heteroatom doping is an important method for engineering graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) because of its ability to modify electronic properties by introducing extra electrons or vacancies. However, precisely integrating oxygen atoms into the lattice of GNRs is unexplored, and the resulting electronic properties remain elusive. Here, we achieve the precise embedding of oxygen atoms into the lattice of GNRs via in situ formation of pyrans, synthesizing two types of oxygen-doped GNRs (O-doped chevron-GNR and O-doped chiral (2,1)-GNR).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA homodyne detector, which is also a common element in current telecommunication, is a core component of continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) since it is considered the simplest setup for the distinguishing of coherent states with minimum error. However, the theoretical security of CV-QKD is based on the assumption that the responses of the homodyne detector are always linear with respect to the input, which is impossible in practice. In the real world, a homodyne detector has a finite linear domain, so the linearity assumption is broken when the input is too large.

Cancer remains a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, necessitating the development of novel targeted therapies. This study explores the therapeutic potential of pyrrolidinium fullerenes as YTH N-methyladenosine RNA binding protein 1 (YTHDF1) inhibitors for cancer treatment. A series of functionalized pyrrolidinium fullerenes is synthesized and characterized, including C-(N,N-dimethyl-pyrrolidinium iodide) (NDMPFI), C-(N-methyl-N-benzyl-pyrrolidinium iodide) (NMBPFI), and C-(N-methyl-N-hydroxyethyl-pyrrolidinium iodide) (NMHPFI).

Size restrictions pose increasing challenges to the acoustic performance of microspeakers in portable devices as the size of such devices, and thus the back volume of microspeakers, continues to shrink. Filling the back volume with porous materials, such as zeolites, has been proved to be an effective strategy for improving acoustic performance. In this work, hierarchically structured ZSM-5 zeolites with abundant mesopores were synthesized via the traditional hydrothermal method by adjusting the SiO/AlO ratios (SAR), and their pore structures and morphologies were systematically investigated.

Pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF, IL-1, and IL-6 trigger aberrant osteoclastogenesis and result in massive bone loss. During RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis, pyroptosis of macrophages/preosteoclasts acts as a pivotal mechanism for IL-1β release, thereby promoting osteoclast maturation and bone resorption. In the current study, it is observed that Pinosylvin (PIN), a compound extracted from European red pine, selectively inhibits LPS- and RANKL-induced release of IL-1β effectively reducing osteoclastogenesis.
