Nitrate reduction serves as a pivotal process in the global nitrogen cycle, playing a crucial role in natural ecosystems and industrial applications. Although the genus is not traditionally regarded as a nitrate reducer, several strains have recently been found to be capable of doing so. However, the evolutionary trajectory of this capability remains undiscovered.

Currently, strategies for the management of Fusarium pod blight are lacking. This study aimed to examine the biocontrol activity of a new avirulent Lasiodiplodia theobromae isolate for the management of Fusarium pod blight.

The detailed mechanisms underlying the transition to heart failure after MI are not fully understood. Disruptions in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-mitochondria connectivity, along with mitochondrial dysfunction, are substantial contributors to this remodeling process.

The integration of in vitro biological neural networks (BNNs) with robotic systems to explore their information processing and adaptive learning in practical tasks has gained significant attention in the fields of neuroscience and robotics. However, existing BNN-based robotic systems cannot perceive the visual environment due to the inefficiency of sensory information encoding methods. In this study, we propose a biomimetic visual information spatiotemporal encoding method based on improved delayed phase encoding.

Here, we analyze a continental-scale dataset of fine roots reaching 2 meters depth, spanning from Alaskan tundra to Puerto Rican forests. Contrary to the expectation that fine root abundance decays exponentially with depth, we found root bimodality at ~20% of 44 sites, with secondary biomass peaks often below 1 m.

Objectives: To investigate the genomic characteristics and prognostic factors of juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) with mutations.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of JMML children with mutations treated at the Hematology Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, from January 2008 to November 2022.
Results: A total of 34 children were included, with 17 cases (50%) having isolated mutations, 9 cases (27%) having isolated mutations, and 8 cases (24%) having compound mutations.
Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC) is characterized by a high recurrence rate after surgery, which may be related to the rerecruitment of residual tumor cells by other factors that promote cancer cell growth in the tumor microenvironment. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), as key immune components, showed high expression of secretory phosphoprotein-1 (SPP1) at the site of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer patients. However, the factors and mechanisms driving the elevated expression of SPP1 in TAMs remain poorly understood, as do the potential effects of SPP1 on colorectal cancer progression.

Hypertension-induced pressure overload triggers left ventricular hypertrophy and leads to heart failure. Although the precise mechanisms remain incompletely elucidated, recent studies highlighted the role of ubiquitin-proteasome system in this process.

Ferroptosis, closely correlated with hypochlorite (ClO), is an emerging form of iron-dependent cell death. Exploring the ClO content in living cells will help to further reveal the biological function of ferroptosis. In this work, we have developed a two-photon excited fluorescent probe (CMI-ClO) which can detect the ClO changes during ferroptosis.

Ischemic stroke (IS) constitutes a major threat to human health. Vascular recanalization by intravenous thrombolysis and mechanical thrombolysis remain the most significant and effective methods for relief of ischemia. Key elements of these treatments include achieving blood-vessel recanalization, restoring brain-tissue reperfusion, and preserving the ischemic penumbra.

This study examined testicular morphology across hibernation stages and investigated potential molecular mechanisms. Results showed that: (1) Spermatocyte density was reduced in the torpor group compared to the pre-hibernation (PRE) group, suggesting a suppression of spermatogenesis during torpor.

One of the key factors influencing the imbibition process is the dynamic wetting effect, which governs the interaction between the liquid and solid surfaces. This paper improves the original pseudopotential model for interfluid forces by coupling it with the Peng-Robinson equation of state.

However, the mechanism how GTS treats MA dependence remains unclear. This study was aimed to investigate the action mechanism of GTS on MA dependence using network pharmacology, / experimental validation, pharmacokinetics, and tissue distribution in the brain.

However, EMB by a bioptome is usually avoided to reduce the risk of lead displacement in the CIED periprocedural period.
Objective: We aimed to assess the safety and feasibility of a novel approach for transvenous right ventricular (RV) EMB using the lead sheath method (L-S-M) during CIED implantation and compared it with the traditional bioptome method (T-B-M).
Fibroblasts undergo metabolic reprogramming after contact with cancer cells in tumor microenvironment, producing lactate to provide a metabolic substrate for neighboring tumor cells. The exchange of lactate between cancer cells and fibroblasts via monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs) is known as the lactate shuttle. Colorectal cancer cells may establish a metabolic coupling akin to the lactate shuttle in collaboration with cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) to augment their invasive and migratory capabilities.

Previous studies on miRNA transcriptomes of striped hamster (Cricetulus barabensis) testes have indicated that the photoperiodism of testes, especially apoptosis, may be influenced by miRNAs. As a functional miRNA, cba-miR-222-3p in striped hamster testes exhibits suppression under a short photoperiod.

The adsorbents used to remove taint compounds from wine can also remove constituents that impart desirable color, aroma, and flavor attributes, whereas molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are tailor-made to selectively bind one or more target compounds. This study evaluated the potential for MIPs to ameliorate smoke taint in wine via removal of volatile phenols during or after fermentation. The addition of MIPs to smoke-tainted Pinot Noir wine (for 24 h with stirring) achieved 35-57% removal of guaiacol, 4-methylguaiacol, cresols, and phenol, but <10% of volatile phenol glycoconjugates were removed and some wine color loss occurred.

Cimicifugae rhizoma is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine in China, and modern pharmacological research showed that it has obvious antiviral activity. Many polysaccharides have been proved to have immune enhancement and antiviral activity, but there are few studies on the biological activity of Cimicifuga rhizoma polysaccharide (CRP). The aim was to explore the character of CRP and its effects on improving immune activity and inhibiting transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV).
