The liver is a major target organ for breast cancer metastasis, while the regulatory mechanism of liver colonization by breast cancer remains largely unclear. Neutrophils are known to play important roles in metastatic colonization of cancer cells by the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Here we show the role and mechanism of a subpopulation of Kupffer cells (KCs), the liver resident macrophages, in mediating tumoral induction of NETs and liver metastasis.

Article Synopsis
  • Disseminated tumor cells (DTCs) can remain dormant for years, but chemotherapy can reactivate them, leading to metastatic breast cancer resurgence.
  • Research shows that drugs like doxorubicin and cisplatin can enhance the growth of these dormant cells, causing them to proliferate and spread.
  • Combining chemotherapy with senolytic drugs, like dasatinib and quercetin, can help prevent this reactivation, offering potential ways to improve cancer treatment outcomes.

This paper focuses on the issue of global practical tracking control by output feedback for uncertain nonlinear systems with unknown control coefficients and unknown reference signal. Unlike other tracking works, the upper and lower bounds of the unknown control coefficients in the studied nonlinear system are not required to be known, while the nonlinearities are bounded by the unmeasured states multiplying an unknown constant, the polynomial-of-output and the polynomial-of-input. Inspired by related works, an adaptive tracking controller based on a new dynamic high gain has been successfully constructed by combining the universal control idea and the concept of dead-zone with backstepping technique, which effectively handles the impacts of multiple uncertainties.

Extensive foliar shedding in monoculture soybeans post-anthesis negatively impacts yield, whereas relay strip intercropping prolongs leaf area duration, enhancing productivity. However, little is known about the causes of leaf shedding in monoculture and its impact on physiological functions and plasticity of source and sink organs, we conducted a 4-year field experiment and leaf-removal simulations in relay intercropped soybeans. Results revealed that monoculture soybeans experienced severe self-shading and defoliation, while relay intercropping maintained better light conditions, supporting higher leaf area, nodule numbers, and carbon allocation.
