Rationale: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) surgery, a common neurosurgical procedure for hydrocephalus, carries risks of complications such as shunt obstruction and infection. Migration of the shunt into the mediastinum, however, is an uncommon complication, particularly in adults.
Patient Concerns: A 56-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of "progressive decline in mobility over 3 months, significantly impairing daily activities.
Biochar is a solid product generated through the pyrolysis of biomass materials under anaerobic or hypoxic conditions, and it is characterized by its strong adsorption capacity. To investigate the phosphorus adsorption performance of biochar derived from wheat straw, bamboo, and water hyacinth in wastewater, iron modification treatments were applied to these biochars, and the most effective modified biochar was identified. The physicochemical properties of the modified biochars were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and factors influencing the occurrence of rebleeding following cerebral revascularization surgery in adult patients with hemorrhagic moyamoya disease (MMD).
Methods: Clinical data were collected from patients diagnosed with hemorrhagic MMD who underwent superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery bypass grafting combined with cerebral-dural-temporal muscle patching. Seventy-five patients meeting the inclusion criteria were followed up and categorized into rebleeding and non-rebleeding groups.
Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is often linked to severe neurological impairments, including cognitive deficits and anxiety-like behaviors. First, the imaging principle of the dual-band simultaneous zoom microscope optical system is theoretically analyzed, and we propose to split the front fixed group of the zoom system into a collimation lens group and a converging lens group to realize the compact design of the system. To meet the increasing demand of the current market and the diversity of application scenarios, combine the zoom system and the multi-band shared-aperture system, and fully harness their respective advantages, this paper proposes a dual-band shared-aperture asynchronous zoom optical system using focus tunable lenses (FTLs). To address the lack of available patents for such systems, we designed a sub-system simultaneous iterative optimization algorithm to calculate the initial structure parameters. This synchronous iterative optimization approach can strengthen the connection between sub-systems and compensate for the shortcomings of current mainstream design methods.
