Phytoseiid mites are significant natural predators of harmful mites and constitute one of the largest groups within Gamasina (Acari: Mesostigmata). The currently accepted classification divides the Phytoseiidae family into three subfamilies, primarily based on the pattern of their dorsal setae. However, the phylogenetic relationships among these subfamilies remain unresolved.

Diagnosing neurosyphilis in clinical settings poses significant challenges due to the absence of highly efficient diagnostic criteria. Our objective was to enhance the existing diagnostic criteria and assess their sensitivity and specificity for identifying neurosyphilis in HIV-negative patients. We conducted a retrospective review of patient records from a cross-sectional study carried out between December 2019 and May 2023.

Metasurfaces represent a promising solution to planarize optics, can mimic any surface curvature without additional fabrication difficulty, and are suitable for flat-top optics. The conventional metasurface design approach relies on imparting the required phase using meta-atoms and encounters challenges in amplitude modulation due to near-field coupling and varying transmittances among meta-atoms with different phases, making the design of flat-top beam shapers difficult.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the efficacy of innovative Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) in testing Cryptococcal Antigen (CrAg) across two medical centers, employing the FDA-approved CrAg Lateral Flow Assay (LFA) by IMMY as a reference standard.
Methods: The study encompassed patients diagnosed with cryptococcosis at West China Hospital of Sichuan University (HX) between July 2022 and May 2023, and Suzhou Fifth People's Hospital (SZ) from September 2020 to September 2023. All specimens underwent simultaneous detection using the LFA (IMMY, Norman, USA) and CLIA (Chuanglan, Suzhou, China).

Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) affects women's reproductive health seriously, with immune dysfunction playing a key role in its cause, yet the exact mechanisms remain elusive. We aim to investigate potential mechanisms and identify biomarkers linked to RPL.
Methods: Immune cytokine testing and metabolomic profiling were conducted on the serum of 34 RPL patients and 30 healthy individuals.

Background: The intricate interactions between chronic psychological stress and susceptibility to breast cancer have been recognized, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unexplored. Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder (DZXY), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, has found clinical utility in the treatment of breast cancer. Macrophages, as the predominant immune cell population within the tumor microenvironment (TME), play a pivotal role in orchestrating tumor immunosurveillance.

Despite substantial progress in clinical trials of osteoarthritis (OA) gene therapy, the prevalence of OA is still on the rise. MiRNAs have a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for OA. OA cartilage and chondrosarcoma cells were studied to determine the role of miR-29a-3p and PTEN.

In a superconducting computing system, the qubit is maintained in a cryogenic environment to avoid thermal excitation. Thus, the transmission of control signals, which are generated at room temperature, is needed.

Objective: To optimize the single centrifugation preparation protocol of rat platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
Methods: The arterial blood of rats obtained by carotid artery intubation was collected by heparin sodium anticoagulant tubes, and then the blood divided into sterile EP tubes, adjusting the red blood cell concentration with normal saline, while rat PRP was prepared by centrifugation under different conditions (the centrifugal force was 200×-240×, and the centrifugal time was 8-12 min). Subsequently, the blood cell count and quality evaluation of anticoagulat whole blood and PRP were performed by hematology analyzer and flow cytometry, respectively, and the differences between different groups were compared.
Background: Uncontrolled proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) contributes to the pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In this work, we defined the precise part of circ_0068481 in PASMC proliferation and migration induced by hypoxia. We hypothesized that circ_0068481 enhanced hypoxia-induced PASMC proliferation, invasion, and migration through the microRNA (miR)-361-3p/Krüppel-like factor 5 (KLF5) pathway.

This approach does not require intensity calibration and is insensitive to environmental disturbances, making it both flexible and high-performing. We conducted experiments with a compact QKD system to demonstrate the stability and secure key rate performance of the presented scheme.

This setup incorporates both the merits of simplicity and stability in encoding, and immunity to channel disturbance. We have demonstrated the field implementation of quantum key distribution over long-distance deployed aerial fiber automatically.

MADS-box proteins, which play crucial roles in plant growth and development and are involved in various physiological and biochemical processes, compose one of the largest families of plant transcription factors. In this study, 42 MADS-box genes were screened from the mesocarp transcriptome database of oil palm fruit, and their phylogenetic relationships with Arabidopsis thaliana MADS-box genes were analyzed.

The main changes during ontogeny are as follows: the pronotal shield extends to j6 level and opisthosoma is unsclerotized in the larva; the dorsum has two shields in the protonymph, pronotal shield slightly expended comparing to that of the larva, and the opisthonotal shield smooth and weakly sclerotized. The podonotal and opisthonotal shields in the deutonymph are partially fused, and the dorsal shield is complete, covering almost the entire opisthonotum in adults in both sexes.

Objective: To analyze the preservation effect and related influencing factors of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells under serum-free condition at 4 ℃.
Methods: Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated by density gradient centrifugation, and stored at 4 ℃ under different cell concentrations, supplemented with human serum albumin, and glucose. The cell viability, total cell number, viable cell number and cell phenotype were detected during preservation of 72 h.
In this work, a series of indole-containing pyrazole-carbohydrazide derivatives A1-A25 were synthesized, and their biological activity on tubulin polymerization inhibition and mitotic catastrophe was evaluated. For introducing indole group to CA-4 pattern, the carbohydrazide linker was used for the first time. As the top hit, A18 suggested notable antiproliferation efficacy and tubulin polymerization inhibitory activity.

Objectives: Ischemia/reperfusion can induce neuronal apoptosis in the brain and lead to function deficits. The activation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent protein kinase (PKA) is neuroprotective against transient cerebral ischemia. The neuroprotective mechanisms of PKA mainly involve the regulation of gene transcription via the PKA/CREB pathway.

Hypothesis: The high surface tension of liquid metal (LM) causes interface incompatibility and poor bonding strength with many substrates. Fine adjustment towards the properties of the surface area is sufficient to introduce strong bonding. Hence, we hypothesize that the interlocking structure using hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a "bridge" should be helpful for tight interfacial bonding of LM with polymeric substrates, thus achieving high-performance LM/polymer membranes, which have wide applications in the field of soft sensors and robotics.
