Oseltamivir Phosphate Modulates CD24-Siglec-G/10 Interaction to Suppress Microglial-Driven Neuroinflammation After Cardiac Arrest.

CNS Neurosci Ther

August 2025

Department of Emergency Medicine, Shenzhen People's Hospital (The Second Clinical Medical College, Jinan University; the First Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Southern University of Science and Technology), Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Background: In cardiac arrest (CA) patients undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), neuroinflammation following return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) contributes to brain ischemia/reperfusion injury and neurological dysfunction. Recent evidence suggested that neuraminidase could exacerbate inflammatory responses by disrupting CD24-Siglec-G/10 immune checkpoint axis. As a neuraminidase inhibitor, oseltamivir phosphate (OP) holds potential for immunomodulation beyond its antiviral use.

The refinement of dynamic molecular mechanisms regulating mRNA release kinetics represents a critical frontier in advancing the synthetic mRNA delivery systems. This study details the synthesis of an intriguing ROS-responsive cationic block copolymer (pM-pBD) via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, employing biocompatible 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) and charge-reversible (2-acryloyl)ethyl(boronic acid benzyl)diethylammonium bromide (BD) as monomeric precursors. The synthesized copolymer facilitates electrostatic-driven self-assembly with anionic mRNA.

Article Synopsis
  • Trans-oral robotic surgery (TORS) and trans-oral laser microsurgery (TLM) are effective methods for identifying unknown primary cancers in the head and neck area, with a focus on tonsillectomy techniques.
  • A systematic review found that 65% of patients had their primary tumors identified using TORS and TLM, with better results from TLM compared to TORS, especially for HPV-related tumors.
  • Complications were relatively low, with nasogastric/gastrostomy issues occurring in 6% of cases, and hospitalization varied between 1 to over 7 days.

Institute of Medical Engineering and Translational Medicine, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300192, P. R. China.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common and serious form of elderly dementia, but early detection and treatment of mild cognitive impairment can help slow down the progression of dementia. Recent studies have shown that there is a relationship between overall cognitive function and motor function and gait abnormalities. We recruited 302 cases from the Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to National Rehabilitation Aids Research Center and included 193 of them according to the screening criteria, including 137 patients with MCI and 56 healthy controls (HC).

Background: During epidemic outbreaks, hospitalized patients, especially those with cerebrovascular disease, were identified as a vulnerable group suffering from acute stress disorder (ASD) and consequent psychological distress. For stroke patients, not only will they suffer from physical illness, but the uncertainty of illness caused by sudden illness may also cause patients to experience different degrees of ASD. Relevant studies have shown that the impact of ASD on individuals may vary according to age, gender, disease characteristics, individual personality, treatment methods, income level, family support, cognitive psychology and other factors.

The pollution posed by medical waste complicate the procedures of medical waste logistics (MWL), and the increasingly frequent occurrence of public health emergencies has magnified the risks posed by it. In this study, the authors established an index of the factors influencing the risks posed by MWL along five dimensions: the logistics business, emergency capacity, equipment, personnel, and management. The best-worst case method was used to identify the critical risk-related factors and rank them by importance.

Application of chemotherapeutic agents to inhibit the HIV replication process has brought about a significant metamorphosis in the landscape of AIDS. Substantial declines in morbidity and mortality rates have been attained, accompanied by notable decreases in healthcare resource utilization. However, treatment modalities do not uniformly inhibit HIV replication in every patient, while the emergence of drug-resistant viral strains poses a substantial obstacle to subsequent therapeutic interventions.

With the development of precision medicine for lung cancer, targeted therapy has greatly improved the survival and prognosis of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but the occurrence of acquired drug resistance ultimately leads to patients with no targeted drugs available and no standard treatment options for this group of patients afterwards. The emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has revolutionized the treatment of advanced NSCLC. However, due to the unique features of NSCLC with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation, such as immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), single ICIs treatment has limited clinical benefits in NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation, and the combination of ICIs with chemotherapy and/or targeted therapies is the trend.
