Overheard evaluative comments can affect young children's effort.

Children stand to benefit from directing their efforts in ways that are socially valued, and this requires them to identify the behaviors that are likely to be seen as valuable. A key source of information for children, and the focus of the present research, is the evaluative comments about other people that they overhear. Participants were 5-year-old Chinese children (total = 180 across four studies; 96 boys), and effort was operationalized as a willingness to wait.

If They Won't Know, I Won't Wait: Anticipated Social Consequences Drive Children's Performance on Self-Control Tasks.

This research evaluated the hypothesis that the act of offering an incentive produces anticipated social benefits that are distinct from the benefits associated with the incentive itself. Across three preregistered studies, 3- to 5-year-old children in China (total = 210) were given an opportunity to wait for an additional sticker (Studies 1 and 3) or an edible treat (Study 2). Rewards were dispensed via a timer-controlled box that allowed the experimenter's apparent ability to learn how long children waited to be manipulated experimentally.

Rolling Bearing Fault Diagnosis Based on Support Vector Machine Optimized by Improved Grey Wolf Algorithm.

This study targets the low accuracy and efficiency of the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm in rolling bearing fault diagnosis. An improved grey wolf optimizer (IGWO) algorithm was proposed based on deep learning and a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm to optimize the structural parameters of SVM and improve the rolling bearing fault diagnosis. A nonlinear contraction factor update strategy was also proposed.

This study uses an integrated model of resource conservation theory and social learning theory to explore the antecedents of hotel interns' perceptions of occupational stigma and to explore the mechanisms inherent to retention willingness. This study first manipulated relevant subjects' experimental materials through a contextual experiment and used a one-way ANOVA to test the effects of competence stereotypes and occupational stereotypes on hotel interns' stigma perceptions, respectively, and then used partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) as a statistical tool and the SmartPLS 3.0 program to validate the model of hotel interns' occupational stigma perceptions-intention.

Application of LDA and word2vec to detect English off-topic composition.

This paper presents an off-topic detection algorithm combining LDA and word2vec aiming at the problem of the lack of accurate and efficient off-topic detection algorithms in the English composition-assisted review system. The algorithm uses the LDA model to model the document and train the document through the word2vec, and uses the semantic relationship between the document’s topics and words to calculate the probability weighted sum for each topic and its feature words in the document, and finally selects the off-topic composition by setting a reasonable threshold. Different F values are obtained by changing the number of topics in the document, and the best number of topics is determined.

The value of tourism has been included in studies of active aging, and the existing public health implications of the physical and mental health effects of tourism among seniors are recognized as important issues. This study uses a mixed methods research approach to explore the effects of tourism value on the health and mortality risk of older adults, referred to in this paper as seniors. Survival analysis and cohort analysis are combined with the narrative analysis of in-depth interviews with eight convenience-sampled seniors to construct a narrative framework of seniors' active aging tourism and its intrinsic drivers.

Methods: Through qualitative and quantitative mixed research, this study first invited 32 interviewees related to the tourism industry to conduct in-depth and focus group interviews and extracted a research model based on the push-pull theoretical model (PPM) through three rounds of coding of grounded theory.
