Open-channel water transfer projects play a crucial role in addressing regional water supply-demand imbalances, and real-time, comprehensive, and accurate acquisition of their hydrodynamic spatiotemporal evolution is essential for ensuring safety and efficiency of water conveyance and optimizing scheduling strategies. While hydraulic monitoring systems and numerical simulations are potential solutions, the former struggles to balance the number of monitoring points with cost constraints to achieve comprehensive and economically feasible measurements, and the latter requires clear boundary conditions and key parameters that often pose challenges in practical scenarios. This paper presents a Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN)-based method applied to predicting hydraulic transients in open channels, incorporating sparse monitoring data and physical laws.

Infiltration and retention of microplastics in porous media are important for understanding their fate in environments and formulating treatment measures. Given porous media opacity, knowledge is usually obtained indirectly by monitoring microplastic concentration in the effluent and measuring microplastic distribution after removing grains in layers. In this study, real-time visualization of infiltration and retention of microplastics in porous media under vertical water flow is performed using an improved reflective index matching method, considering the different shapes and densities of microplastics and size ratios between microplastics and grains.

Escherichia coli O157:H7 is a pathogen that commonly causes foodborne illness and represents a health hazard to consumers. The combined use of synergistic antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) is a promising way to improve the microbiological safety of foods. In this study, we detected the synergistic interactions between thanatin and BF-15a3 to reduce their usage and obtain more efficient antibacterial activity.

Microorganisms play a critical role in the process of nitrogen removal in aquatic environment, which is regulated by multiple environmental factors. As a high-altitude region, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has unique composition of bacterial communities due to its unique geographical conditions, which may affect the nitrogen conversion of Plateau rivers. However, the regulation of nitrogen removal by environmental factors and bacterial community in high-altitude rivers has been rarely reported.

Climate change and human activities have seriously degraded alpine grassland, potentially affecting soil particle size distribution (PSD) and further influencing the nutrient levels and erodibility of soil. Predicting the fertility and erodibility of alpine soil using multifractal dimensions of soil PSD could be used to enhance the management and restoration of degraded alpine grasslands. In the present study, we evaluated three types of alpine grasslands: alpine meadow (AM), alpine steppe (AS), and alpine desert steppe (ADS).

Numerous studies have evaluated the toxicity and endocrine disrupting properties of organic UV filters for aquatic organisms, but little is known about their biodegradation in river sediments and their impact on microorganisms. We have set up the sterile and microbiological systems in the laboratory, adding 2-ethylhexyl-4-methoxycinnamate (EHMC), one of organic UV filters included in the list of high yield chemicals, at concentrations of 2, 20 and 200 μg/L, and characterized the microbial community composition and diversity in sediments. Monitoring of EHMC degradation within 30 days revealed that the half-life in the microbial system (3.

We examined soil physical and chemical properties and plant community characteristics of four alpine meadows at different degradation stages in Damxung County, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, with the method of spatial sequence instead of time succession. The results showed that soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, ammonium, nitrate, and water content showed a decreasing trend as the degree of soil degradation increased, while pH showed an increasing trend. Plant community height, richness, diversity index and evenness index of the moderately degraded meadow were the highest.

China has experienced a dramatic change in atmospheric reactive nitrogen (Nr) emissions over the past four decades. However, it remains unclear how nitrogen (N) deposition has responded to increases and/or decreases in Nr emissions. This study quantitatively assesses temporal and spatial variations in measurements of bulk and calculated dry N deposition in China from 1980 to 2018.

Chemical compositions of fog and rain water were measured between July 2017 and September 2018 at Sejila Mountain, southeast Tibet, where fog events frequently occurred in original fir forests at altitude 3950 m. Fog water samples were collected using a Caltech Active Strand Cloud Collector (CASCC), and rain samples were collected using a precipitation gauge. Differences were observed between fog water and rain composition for most analyzed ions.
