Worldwide cancer statistics have shown that breast cancer dominates female cancer incidence and remains a leading cause of death. The Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) is a new prognostic indicator of systemic inflammation used to assess systemic immune-inflammatory response levels in the human body. It is associated with the prognosis of various diseases, such as malignant tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

Six sesquiterpene derivative compounds (1-6), including one new 7R-sydowic acid (1) and five known compounds (2-6) were isolated from the secondary metabolites of Aspergillus sydowii-HB. The structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy and ESI-MS analysis, and the configuration of compound 1 was confirmed through DP4 calculation and NMR chemical shift. All the isolated compounds (1-6) were tested for their cytotoxic activities.

Introduction: Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) develops more aggressively in recipients of hearts from brain-dead (BD) donors with induced long QT syndrome (iLQTS), yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this study, we employ a multi-omics and experimental framework to explore the role of neuro-immune interactions in non-failing donor hearts affected by iLQTS.

Methods: Single-nuclei RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) compared four iLQTS and four non-arrhythmic non-failing donor hearts.

Group B (GBS) is a significant pathogen that causes perinatal infections, seriously threatening the health of pregnant women and newborns. Prophylactic antibiotic treatment for pregnant women who screen positive for GBS can notably reduce the incidence and fatality of neonatal infections. Herein, we developed a isual nucleic acid method for BS that integrates PA and RISPR/Cas12a in a ne-ube setup, termed VGRCOT.

Purpose: To investigate the genomic mechanisms driving rapid erythromycin resistance emergence in during clinical management of urinary tract infections.

Methods: Longitudinal analysis of four isolates (C1-C4) from an ICU patient with candida coinfection was conducted using CLSI M45-A3-guided microbroth dilution and comparative whole-genome sequencing. Phylogenetic reconstruction (27 housekeeping genes) confirmed clonal origin, while CARD/PIPdb/ISfinder databases characterized resistome dynamics.

Background: In the 21st century, breast cancer is the most frequent malignant tumor threatening women's health. Previous research has confirmed that inflammatory response processes play key roles in tumor occurrence, development, and metastasis. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), an emerging disease biomarker, has become a focus of cancer research.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to the destruction of periodontal tissues, ultimately resulting in tooth loss. Current treatments primarily focus on mitigating inflammation and alleviating symptoms, but they often lack specificity. This study aims to explore the molecular mechanisms of periodontitis using gene expression databases (GEOs) and bioinformatics methods, combined with Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis, to identify key therapeutic targets.

Objective: Network approaches to the pandemic-related psychopathology could help identify the effective targets for interventions in adolescents. However, previous studies involved only limited forms of psychopathology related to stress and trauma and relied on the traditional centrality analysis. This study aimed to identify more effective intervention targets of pandemic-related psychopathological symptoms in a large-scale sample of adolescents using a newly developed network-based simulation intervention technique.

Predicting circadian syndrome by obesity indices in middle-aged and older Chinese: evidence from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study.

Int J Cardiol Cardiovasc Risk Prev

September 2025

Maternal and Child Health Management Department, Sichuan Provincial Women's and Children's Hospital, The Affiliated Women's and Children's Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, Chengdu, China.

Objective: To predict the optimal cut-off values for screening and predicting circadian syndrome (CircS) in a middle-aged and older population using 11 obesity-related indices.

Methods: Data was obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database, including 9265 middle-aged and older people. We examined 11 indices, including waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist-height ratio (WHtR), visceral adiposity index (VAI), a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), lipid accumulation product index (LAP), conicity index (CI), Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI), weight-adjusted-waist index (WWI), and cardiometabolic index (CMI).

The prognostic and clinicopathological value of HALP score in non-small cell lung cancer.

Front Immunol

July 2025

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Mianyang Central Hospital, School of Medicine, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Mianyang, Sichuan, China.

Objective: The prognostic role of the hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been widely reported, but the results remain controversial. Therefore, we aim to evaluate the prognostic and clinicopathological value of the HALP score in NSCLC through a pooled analysis.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and the ClinicalTrials.

Causal Association Between Genetically Predicted Ankle Spacing Width and Risk of Age-Related Bone Mineral Density.

Sci Rep

July 2025

Department of Science and Education, Deyang people's Hospital, 173 Taishan North Road, Jingyang District, Deyang, 618000, Sichuan, China.

While observational studies suggest associations between ankle spacing width (ASW, defined as the horizontal distance between the medial malleoli under weight-bearing conditions) and osteoporosis (OP), fractures, and falls, causal evidence remains limited. This gap hinders the translation of ASW measurements into clinical risk stratification tools. This study aimed to investigate the causal relationships between ASW indicators and site-/age-specific bone mineral density (BMD), bone fracture and fall risks.

Pneumonia, particularly when caused by the bacterium Klebsiella pneumoniae, presents a major global health challenge. This gram-negative bacterium is a notable pathogen in healthcare-associated infections, leading to severe conditions such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and the bloodstream infections, mainly in immunocompromised subjects. The bacterium's ability to resist multiple antibiotics complicates the treatment, posing a major concern in hospital settings.

Pyroptosis in Alzheimer's Disease: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential.

Cell Mol Neurobiol

June 2025

Department of Laboratory Medicine, People's Hospital of Deyang City, No. 173, Section 1, Taishan North Road, Jingyang District, Deyang, 618000, Sichuan Province, P. R. China.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by amyloid plaques, neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), and neuroinflammation. Recent research has revealed that pyroptosis, an inflammatory programmed cell death (PCD), plays a crucial role in AD pathology. The pyroptosis signaling cascade triggered by β-amyloid (Aβ) and hyperphosphorylated tau protein leads to the release of proinflammatory cytokines, forming a "neuroinflammation-neurodegeneration" vicious cycle.
