Monacolin K (MK), also known as lovastatin (LOV), is a secondary metabolite synthesized by Monascus in the later stage of fermentation and is the main component of functional red yeast rice (RYR). The structure of MK is similar to 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA), and it can competitively bind to 3-hydroxy-3- methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR), thus reducing the level of blood lipids. MK can affect the expression of MAPK, PI3K/AKT, and NF-κB pathway, prepare conjugates with other compounds, and enhance the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapeutic drugs so as to induce apoptosis of acute myeloid leukemia, prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, and liver cancer.

Bismuth vanadate (BVO) possesses great potential in photoelectrochemical water splitting application, but still suffers from low charge transfer efficiency as well as poor chemical stability. Herein, we have fabricated a thin NiFe-bimetal-organic framework (NiFe-MOF) layer grafting surface oxygen vacancies enriched BVO photoanode (NiFe-O-BVO), which improves the charge separation and transfer efficiency during oxygen evolution process. Meanwhile, the NiFe-MOFs thin layer can not only protect the surface O of BVO, but also efficiently inhibits the photocorrosion.

Assessing and improving the performance of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials require quantitative prediction of rate coefficients for the intersystem crossing (ISC) and reverse ISC (RISC) processes, which are determined not only by the energy gap and the direct spin-orbit coupling (SOC) between the first singlet and triplet excited-states at a thermal equilibrium position of the initial electronic state but also by the non-Condon effects such as the Herzberg-Teller-like vibronic coupling (HTVC) and the spin-vibronic coupling (SVC). Here we apply the time-dependent correlation function approaches to quantitatively calculate the vibrationally resolved absorption and fluorescence spectra and ISC/RISC rates of a newly synthesized multiple-resonance-type (MR-type) thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter, 7-phenylquinolino[3,2,1-]acridine-5,9-dione (7-PhQAD), with the inclusion of the Franck-Condon (FC), HTVC, and Duschinsky rotation (DR) effects. The SVC effect on the rates has also been approximately evaluated.

Through the continuity of the DREIDING force field, we propose, for the first time, the finite-deformation plate theory for the single-layer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) to clarify the atomic source of the structure against deformations. Divergent from the classical Föppl-von Karman plate theory, our new theory shows that h-BN's two in-plane mechanical parameters are independent of two out-of-plane mechanical parameters. The new theory reveals the relationships between the h-BN's elastic rigidities and the atomic force field: (1) two in-plane elastic rigidities come from the bond stretching and the bond angle bending; (2) the bending rigidity comes from the inversion angle and the dihedral angle torsion; (3) the Gaussian rigidity only comes from the dihedral angle torsion.

The ontogenesis of catabolic abilities and energy metabolism during endogenous nutritional periods of tongue sole was investigated. In this work, trypsin-like proteases (TRY) and triglyceride lipase (LIP) activities were measured to assess the capacities to catabolize proteins and lipids, respectively. Meanwhile, specific enzymes including pyruvate kinase (PK), glutamic oxalo acetic transaminase (GOT) and glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), and hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase (HOAD) as well as their ratios were assayed to evaluate the abilities to use energy substrates of carbohydrates, amino acids and fatty acids, respectively, for energy production.

To assess the biodegradation potential of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediments, sediment microcosms were constructed with sediments collected from six lake zones with different trophic statuses in Taihu Lake. The presence and concentration of PAH-degrading bacteria (PDB) were estimated by the most probable number (MPN) method. After 85 d of aerobic and anaerobic incubation, spiked PAHs (phenanthrene, pyrene, and benzo[]pyrene) were partially degraded by indigenous sediment microorganisms.

Novel polysaccharide-platinum conjugated polymers bearing alendronate on Portulaca oleracea polysaccharides (PPS) were designed and synthesized. Their chemical structures and properties were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), H NMR and P NMR spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectrophotometer (UV-vis) and other analysis methods. This study isolated CFI gene from Pelteobagrus fulvidraco and named it PfCFI. The cDNA of PfCFI is 2374 bp long, including a 52 bp 5' untranslated sequence, a 222 bp 3' untranslated sequence, and an open reading frame (ORF) of 2100 bp encoding polypeptide consisting of 699 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the PfCFI was closely related to CFI of Ictalurus punctatus.
